Great to hear the history and progression of the knife design I love. Thanks for sharing the concepts of it's use and the different variations of design. Very cool!
Really like the backstory in this one. He told me about a lot of this when we were breaking down our tables and chatting at the end of Blade Show this year. I hope I end up getting to be part of their karambit project. He told me about it when he found out I make karambits and was like "Why didn't you tell me sooner? We've been interviewing people this whole time at my table." And was just like "You guys looked busy." 😆
The Libre knife fighting guy's and Ed Calderon are kinda negative on the Karambit ohhh man I wanna see Doug Marcaida and Scott Babb on a interview so bad. In the last interview Ed Calderone and Scott Babbitt did they made the argument that if you stick with a Karambit or a ringed tool and then they move a pig torso around you're kind of stuck with it. A Doug marcaida is the only practitioner I have ever seen stick a pig leave the blade in release it then grab the blade and continue the cut. That's a very smart solution to their complicated problem. He literally saved karambits for me with this new style of counter Ambush blade work. Thank you Doug!
If Doug ever released a Karambit based on The Tv Show “Taboo” I think a lot of people would be interested. There’s not a lot on the market with the double rings.
Love scythes just like blades like Karambits... An i thenonly one seeing that scythe Doug had an thought.. that scythe could use a retention Karambit ring on it too..?? An that idea early video of a "ring knife" got me thinking some nasty ideas for self defense.. but problem is WOULD thats be legal an easy ways to train one to handle a ring knife that could be quite a concealed an fast deployment almost quick as a ballisong if made right ..
Great video! I’m looking at getting a folder karambit for edc and self defense. If you had to choose one, would you choose one with a curved blade or a tonto blade?
A K-bit does not need to be long bladed. My 2 favorite blades (And I have 10 Karambits) are my Bastinelli Pika and my TKell knives FLN, both smaller blades.
I could still use it in new jersey. I wish we could you a Bailsog and 15 to 20 rounds in my gun and a semiaslo rifle like an Ar14 mmin14 , M1 carbine and others
Great interview
I love Doug's knife designs! i have all but 2 or 3 of them! Great quality!
