Blade Show 2023 - Attempting To See Everything In 1.5 Days!

- 2023 was the first year I attended The Blade Show in Atlanta. I can honestly say, this is easily, by far the largest knife show in the world! It is also the finest knife/ blade show which has something for everyone.
After some travel delays, I got to spend a day and a half at the three day show. During that time I was able to walk most of the floor looking, handling and interviewing knife makers & dealers. It was an outstanding trip. I can't wait to go back next year.
**SIDE NOTE **
The lighting in the Galleria was not the best and to top it off I left my small recording light in Texas, so I have to say sorry about the crappy visual clearity at times!
Next year, the video will be 1000 times better and clearer!
See you all then!
Great job featuring the makers & not just the production retailers 👌🏻
Thanks! We appreciate your support!
Make sure you subscribe and catch our Atlanta video in a few months!
Nice meeting you! I was at the sterling custom knives table, great editing! Thanks for the kind words and the coverage, hope to see you next year!
It was great talking with you also. I’m already looking forward to next year.
Take it easy!
Thanks for the tour and that was cool, "what's your favourite knife" 👍🗡️🔪
Great video mate. It was really good to see all the smaller makers and hear what they had to say. Looked like an awesome weekend
Glad you enjoyed it! Next years should be even better!
Impressive work sir. Old Hickory knives make great blanks for Trade knives. Thank you
Hey thanks for interviewing us!!! Nice meeting you!!
Likewise! I’ll swing by y’all next year and see what all is new and going on!!!
I loved this video. It showed a lot of the smaller tables and makers that don't usually get into videos. Thank you for the coverage. That pirate ship was something else. Never knew they had stuff like that there.
Glad you liked it!
That guy who finds old axe heads should come out East to Collinsville, Connecticut. There's an old dirt road along the East side of the Farmington River, the Collins Axe Company used to dump along it. I've found some of it in the past.
Thorough work…impressive knives. Thank you.
This was a fantastic tour that brought back many memories. I'll have to get back out to Blade Show next year. Thanks for this!
Thanks for the positive feedback! Message me here or on ig next year before the show!
Good video
which country is this Which other city is it?
Wow this is 🔥🔥
Very nice video. Lot to see there. If you do this next year, it would be awesome if you could do a still shot of their business cards at either beginning or end of each display both / exhibitor.
Hey David,
Will do!
I appreciate the positive criticism! It tells me what I need to do better with next time!
@@ONeillOutdoors You’re very welcome. I do appreciate your video and your videos. Thought that would be something that would help people like me who have got some hearing disabilities and even though I use the close caption, it doesn’t always capture everything. I was trying to find that nice guy Jax works but to no avail. Still a little bit primitive. I don’t have any social media, so it makes it difficult sometimes to find people.
You can get into custom knives, especially the smaller knives for about the same price as these of the shelf, mass produced name brand knives these days as the price has risen on them. I am looking at a couple custom knives currently? Definitely will not be my next, but the next one after....🤣
i'll be there in feb 2024 with Trident EDC hope to bump into you
Just look for me and wave me down when you see me! I hope it happens!
Nice
Thanks.
Lightening with the GoPro stank, but I’ve already upgraded and am ready for texas in a month or so!
Next year should be epic!
On the tiger stripe Damascus, Is there maybe a reason no one has done it that way before? Maybe because the “seams” or “grain” isn’t running the length of the blade and is the steal weakened that way? Just asking. Im no metallurgist.
Sad to say but it looks like John Shore may be done making blades, according to his most recent facebook post.
Dang!
Illinois industrial tools, what do know about them.Just a little knife sold to for five bucks.
Thank you for the time and effort in showing us all those awesome knives, and for sharing the contact info of so many smaller knife makers. That s vital to help them to grow, and to let everyone get to know them. Nice gesture !
Miller Bros vs Dawson, which one is better in general?
I'm just going to ve ture the answer was a nope. We tried to see it all in 2019 and it is too big to see everything in 3 days. It really needs to be extended to at least a week.
I wanted to go this year soo bad, but threw my back out and couldn't do it.
The smug look is called constipation!

So many people doing the exact same thing.
Chinatech
Anual event?
It sure is!
Google blade show and it should pop up. They have a few shows but this one is the largest!
Weird nobody has prices would really put me off buying as it kinda seems they are trying for rubes to over pay.
@ 1h:15m she says the "exodus 3" is her favorite!..man that's a damn steak knife! 🙄 😆🤣😂
Thank you so much for sharing our gear with so many people. When we were at Blade Show West people kept coming to the table talking about the video they saw and it was yours. We appreciate the support of our family business and the work that goes into creating a video. We appreciate your efforts and wanted to let you know people were watching and it helped.
I sincerely appreciate that!
Well, get ready because next year it’s gonna be even better and longer!
In a couple of weeks, I plan to start posting more gear reviews, and knife reviews .
Checking you guys out based on this feature!
And ordered!
@@everettmeadows5833 thank you
Thanks for the effort in putting this together, it cool to see actual knifemakers rather than manufacturers which most RUclipsrs cover extensively. If you have time next year, see if you can ask them a few more questions, it's very valuable to get their insights about their work.
100% that is possible.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks!
So refreshing seeing QUALITY fixed blades for a time.
Edit: was just blown away by Bradford
Right? I'm sick of seeing "budget" fixed blades.
2:45 what company is that in the blue table plz🙏
Most and best coverage of Blade I have seen! I was there 1 1/2 days and missed most of what you showed. Excellent audio and video was clear and slow enough to see things. Best part was you asking what their favorite piece was, really opened them up to sharing some interesting information, great job!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Could you imagine a tornado hitting that place while your in there!? LOL you would be chopped to tiny pieces!!
I'm sorry, I think about weird stuff / scenarios, haha
Great video Brother! Some awesome knifes here.
Dark man…. I like it, haha!
But seriously, thanks for the kind words about the video. Take it easy.
We don't have this kind of expo in philippines .. yet we have great custom knives makers in our country..
Ok soooo i love knifes.. but not ornamental sorts necessarily.. i would like it if everyone that reads this give me their top 3 work use manufactures at this show plz.. ill do a big man back flip for every recommendation
Cobratec does not stand behind their knives. Was given 1. Coating was coming off case less than 6 months. And they said they wouldn't cover that. I got rid of it
Great video!
Thanks!
Very enjoyable and informative video, Thankyou. The axe restorer had some amazing workmanship on his table. Restoring is definitely an art form. Again thanks for the video.
This next years will be better! And hopefully so much longer I’ll have to do a few to cover so much more!
Dude that PNW edc tray/hank/pouch is awesome.
One thing I don't like about these shows is the smug look on the older guys faces. The 50 and below guys are always enthusiastic when talking about their brand.
Well that was xenophobic of you...
@@eskee1you don't know what that word means, huh?
@@eskee1xenophobic? LOL. You mean ageist. Xenophobic means to hate people from other countries, incidentally that’s also a trait of the 50+ demographic as well. At least here in the US.
The older guys have been doing these shows for years and years. But it has only been the last few years that every other guy is a RUclipsr with a camera in their face. The young guys are used to it. Older guys are just tired and having a harder time adjusting.
They've been around awhile and have seen they're sales plummet in recent years because of all the stock removal masses in the community
Thanks for covering all the small vendors. I watched the whole video.
Thanks for watching!
A friend of mine back in the 80s was stationed in Italy .with 509th parachute .he sent me one gorgeous ram horn the cops in my hometown took it off me
Thank you for reviewing this knife. I bought one about 3 years ago, but haven't used it yet. Great video.
Thanks! I appreciate that.
I would love to go to that show. nothing like that in australia
Come on buddy! 2024 should be an amazing blade show! I can’t wait to go back!
So I'm curious. Is it just because you're not realy interested so you didn't stop at their stands, or are there almost no kitchen knive makers there?
Great question!
There were over 900 different vendors crammed in two rooms! I was only there a day and a half due to travel delays. Next year I plan to cover more and get a lot more custom knife makers as long as anywhere else that doesn’t have a ton of people in front of their table. On the second day and third day, some people don’t wanna talk … they’re ready to pack up and go home, while others are more than happy to talk to you.
I guess the short answer would be that it all depends on the situation, the day and the table.
Still waiting for mine ,looks fantastic and nice review sir.atb paddy🙏
I love you hitting the small guys trying to make a mark. Very cool of you. I'm hitting up Drifter Blades by the way
Excellent!
@@ONeillOutdoors I'ma tell'em your vid brought to them. Thanks again for posting. Subbing now because you responded. God Bless
That means a lot!
PNWbushcraft is freakin awesome. I’m going to the show next year. Thanks for sharing the Vid!
Best coverage of blood show I have seen. I love the fact that you go to these custom makers so many people are about to production stuff to look at microtech’s, newest and latest gratis, or some bogus blade that you can buy bulk bitchmade or Spyderco. I would rather see custom handmade stuff. Good coverage brother keep it up.
Thanks so much.
I would spend so much money there it scares me . Just absolutely love meeting the people that make the knives they offer to us . Awe man so many beautiful knives I have to see if they come to California or I guess I will go on a road trip one of these days , thanks for the video and new sub here .
That Tiger stripe is beautiful!
Great video, thanks for showing the real knife makers.
Next year I’ll get a lot more! I was shocked at how big the show is.

I missed the Show this year and have never been.. I will be there next year.. but what you did allow me to ALMOST know what it was like to go... THANK YOU
I didn’t even make it into the next room but an hour… and only 1.5 days….
This next year I plan to hit it hard and bring everyone 2-3 videos!
I like this video. I colecting knifes abaut 40 and years. I also did some with a friend. Large bowie knives from feder plate trucks. We sharpened it and then I took it to the company to have my knife sandblasted and sharpened. He could cut a tin tool box. And a friend later made the handle and the front bumper out of brass.
Well, I’m glad he really liked the video and next year there will be more and even better Contant so make sure you like and subscribe, stay tuned and get ready for more awesome videos!!!
Cool video. You really did some work for this video and hopefully helped some makers. Im gonna check those trout scales and thr trout neck knives.
Thanks for the awesome compliment! The lighting wasn’t great for the GoPro, but this next year I’ll have a proper camera and it will be way better!
29:13 that Hogue knife has got to be one of the ugliest knives... Ive tried but I just cant warm to it... the other titanium Hogue though... that really does look so smooth... would like to feel that...
that Thuys Meades knife 54:24... I want! :)
As a knife maker in Ireland, that's a fantastic video, what you did for everyone is great, you should be on commission 😊
Great job
Thanks man! I really appreciate that.
Ok soooo i love knifes.. but not ornamental sorts necessarily.. i would like it if everyone that reads this give me their top 3 work use manufactures at this show plz.. ill do a big man back flip for every recommendation
I like the blade at 30:33 over the chick-fil-a menu Mostly i like the double bend in the blade for once it's actually useful the first inch about the length of a razor blade is great angle for whittling for sharpening stakes the other part is a great angle for cutting. and the bend will not interfere in anyway with a defensive slice. probably mke it worse really.
I don't undestand. what do you want to do with an axe ? Buy a ch18n saw for your home and a little one for your trips ..! Please, son us some useful stuff !!
I want them all
Hey Man, who is the maker in the red shirt, green tablecloth at 1:02:40? Thanks!
JAMES MUSTAIN from Hollywood Florida.
I’ll get his business card info once I get home and post it here.
@@ONeillOutdoors Awesome! Thanks
Awesome blades❤
Thanks for sharing as much as you could. So much eye-candy, and more than a few friends in your shots. That made it more fun even.
Glad you enjoyed it!
The Fowler Bowie is very similar to some of the River Jump knives. Very impressive pattern.
Very nice. I have a Higo 2 but mine is the Silver to gold anodized with carbon fiber overlay scales. It is was one of my grail knives. SHARP AF!
Right on
If you are a vendor be sure to have big contact sign, most of these guys don't advertise well
good knives
Those dragon scale door handles at the ax guys booth are incredible.
🎉 Moving too fast! Dizzy. Can’t really see most of the video knives
Haven't watched this entire video, Did "Half Face blades" have a booth there?
Very cool video, I appreciate your effort and time. Glad to see the lesser known manufacturers mixed in with some of the big dogs. Some really cool stuff shown. Thanks
Thank you.
Next year it will have much clearer footage and a lot more time with as many lesser known and custom/ handmade manufacturers.
I sincerely appreciate your kind words!
The dude with the mask could have had the best knives in the world and the mask would have been a deal breaker for me
Thanks for all the work for all of us who Caint go
Anytime!
Next year will be even better!
Thanks for the feedback!
Awesome content! Liked and subscribed from Pembroke Pines FL. I love the interview style back and forth. It's cool to see the knife makers open up and share their passion on the spot. Please keep doing what you do!
Thanks so much for the awesome words and compliment.
I'm glad to see made in the USA knives.
Drifter blades got the Marvel Hydra symbol.
Old ax heads has better American steel not softer foreign made ones.
everyone is selling something. amazing
Great video. Excellent questions, banter and especially editing. Some (maybe all) of the larger knife RUclips channels could certainly learn a thing or two from this video.
Thanks so much for the awesome compliment. I appreciate that!
1:07:14 this seller seems to have the best damascus skills, regular damascus doesn't do anything for me anymore, infact i'll perfer an more subtle hamon with tree texured steel then boring same looking damascus, but these damascus designs look otherworldly, i perfer the steel on 1:06:42 the $1250 one, it looks stately and regal, but the $1600 is also very nice, looks like jade leaves, encased in stone, like an fossil i love the way they refect the light and glow
secound place goes to 1:35 his Damascus is very nice, it's like polished stone, it has an calming effect, the tree like texure on it is great, it's subtle and secondary, but brings alot of polish to the knife, he's clearly very skilled at steel making, but it would be even better if it was the lengh of a yatagan sword that the knife is based on, so about 30 inches? i'm having an mental orgasim thinking of the beauty, with the soft recure, with an equally eye pleasing steel pattern.
Good video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Make sure you check it out next year! It will be much better!
@ONeillOutdoors will do. can't wait thank you
Liked the bushcrafter.
Those little miniature axes are amazing.
Wonder if Jay Grodin made it out there . He is out of Grass Valley and I bought his best knife a few years ago . Just happened to be an outdoor market in Tahoe City and he and his wife had a booth . Saw he was a knife maker and hung out for an hour and got a fossilized walrus tusk handled Damascus blade knife . It's so nice it's silly .
I happened to pick up the last pack! I missed out on the axis lock from last year so I spotted this one and didn't think twice. I was impressed with the lock up, and finish. They don't feel as cheap as other cheap knives do. I was also impressed that they did a bearing version and spring assist version in the same pack. They were also respectably sharp. The included sharpener works quite well. The bit driver is pretty handy and respectably sturdy. The keychain tool is total trash though. The only minor issue I had was that the axis lock knife was a bit too tight in the pivot screw, but just a ever so slight adjustment and the blade flies right open. It's a great value knife set.
I will watch next years video as well, pretty damn good presentation and information
Thanks!
after a man said that is a Cityknife, i closed the page.
Yes, do more videos like this Scab!
Blue Collar Ferraris
Best salesman ever, and I'm not kidding.🎉
Thanks !!! Hopefully I’ll get to see you again next year
Fowler should’ve named that blade the Tiger Shark. I said it in my head when he picked it up and then he said the actual name 🤯
just curious, do they stamp their name on the knives? Be nice to know if you find a good one.
Man I didn't like your walk through the blade show, you missed so many Brands and only go to fuckin' customs, why man?
I can't belive you've missed the A2 Knives (if you don't know Andre Van Heerden & Andre Thorburn)-57min.12sec.
I was just walking around and going up to tables I thought looked interesting and caught my attention, plus there a lot to take in.
Have you ever been to blade show? There are so many tables it’s hard to hit every one. I appreciate your feedback and I’ll take your constructive criticism into consideration next year.
Have a good one.
@@ONeillOutdoors sorry for my constructive criticism, when I watch the whole video I decide it's hard really to hit every one table.Your video is made in one day on the blade show maybe...
Absolutely no apologies needed! I always take all suggestions to be a form of help in giving viewers what they want.
Thanks for watching!
What knife is the one shown at 54.49?
Awesome video but why speed up the knife sharpening part?
Love your lives even though I often miss them😂 Thanks for doing what you do!
good effort best to break and not tire....got dizzy with speed movement.
