I really appreciate how you went back to this review and changed your mind. I just copped mine and my opinion is that New Balance has done a perfect job in updating a timeless classic like the 991. It was not easy to change a model that has made the history of the brand, but they did it the right way, keeping what was good about the original version and changing for the good. For istance, the new midsole with fuel cell is way better than the original, both in terms of comfort and shape. I love my pair, is growing on me day after day and it's really becoming my favorite silouette of all. However, I do agree on the lack of attention of the craftmanship, too many extra glue and extra stitching yarn. This pair is expensive, it should be perfect!
I knew you'll come around 😂. Thanks for the updated review and comparison. You can't go wrong on a sleek looks of the V2. I'm glad that the fuel cell really made some difference in the comfort. Now I want this even more, the problem is the stock and that friggin price tag. 😢.
Great comparison. How does the 991v2 compared to 990v6 comfort wise since both have fuelcell technology. Try to grab one as daily driver. your input is appreciated.
To anyone who has tried the 991v2 I want your sizing recommendation, I wear size 9.5 in 2002r and size 9 in 990v3 and v4 should I go with size 9 or 9.5 with the 991v2? My foot is slightly wider than normal.
I wear a 10.5 in 990v3 and I sized down a half size for the 991v2 to size 10 and they fit perfectly. I found that size 10.5 in the v2 was too long for my foot. I have a slightly narrow foot versus your foot that is slightly wider, so for your sizing maybe true to size would be best for the v2. If you go a half size up they might be too long, but I can’t say for sure. Hope this helps. If you’re able to order a 9 and a 9.5 and try on both and keep the best fit and return the other that would be ideal but I understand sometimes both sizes aren’t always available and there’s also the added cost of return shipping depending on the retailer. Good luck!
@@brian.j103unfortunately I have ordered a size 9.5 and shipped it to my country just to realize it's a little bit long, the width is good though. I bought an insole which made it better. Size 9 would've been perfect but it's what it is.
Glad we got a updated detailed review I see what you mean about the pinky toe issue I never had that issue with any of my new balnces till I got the latest v4s half a size down on those might be too tight for me.
@@guynkicks I took delivery of my normal M the other day and it fits well. Size up might make sleeves too long but have you washed yours yet? Wondering if these shrink as much as some of the terry Made sweats?
Thanks for this. I got my first 991 (V2 version) and I must say I expected them to be more confortable. Not comparable with the 990 V3 for example. I hope they will get more comfortable with use. Aesthetically they look great though.
I’m tryna decide between these 991v2 or a pair of Nike sb dunk low black gum. For overall everyday every outfit wear. And haven’t tried on both so I’m curious on both ends
Looks like 991 is losing its identity with V2 after it looks way too close to 992, but 991v2 should be lighter. Too bad V2 is still unable in Canada, and no wonder NB stopped 992 production for a while 😂
Eh U could say that about 990v6 having an “identity” crisis compared to it’s predecessors in same 990 lineage but change is ok, don’t be afraid! Evolution > stagnation (usually)
Hmm... i think you said it was a different color, the quality control issues, and do you think the suede is the same quality?@@guynkicks keep it up with the good vids 👊
991v2 looks better than the 992. Thanks, for the comparison and review the price point has had me icing but I’ll pull the trigger because they never go on sale those 990, 991 etc models.
My v2 arrived yesterday and I think, regarding sizing, that the v2 fits exactly the same as post-TS 990v2. That works as a guideline for anyone who has a recent 990v2
Yeah I believe I can fit a 9.5 as well. I went with a size 10 and there’s definitely some room but not to the point where I’m like damn they fit too big.
Everyone’s foot is different! On the V1 and V2 I went up a size (.5) and they fit fine. Really get annoyed when reviewers think their foot size/width is the same for everyone else. Some ppl like a snugged fit, some like TTS, and some like a looser fit. Please stop thinkin your foot is the standard because some ppl can fall under false pretenses with your reviews.
That’s why everyone should always try the shoe on first if they can, which I’ve normally said that in my videos. I try to give people a general idea, everyone should make the best the decision for them. ✌🏼
If you don’t like what the people reviewing the shoe says probably best option is not to watch the video 😂😂😂 damn, looks like someone hurt your feelings

The V2 was on sale today for $150 but they sold out. Anyone who's looking to get a pair just be patient and keep your eyes open.
Where at?

i don't care if its 50bucks, as long as new balance don't make the 2E options then its unwearable.

Honestly either one is great.
The tongue on the v2 look better and I like the mid sole better.
V2’s are sick with those blue air bubbles is crazy
"Crazy"? Stuff like that has been around for decades dude.

The issue is toe box is true in V1. But sizing up would solve that issue and givethe toes more room

Not related to shoes but I love your glasses, which brand and model is it? Thanks!
From Warby Parker the Chamberlain model.
@guynkicks Love your reviews. I see you in that new Made quarter zip, looking to pick one up today, how did you size and do you like it? Looks nice.
Thanks bro! So I wanted a loose fit so I went a size up from my normal size L.
@@guynkicks I took delivery of my normal M the other day and it fits well. Size up might make sleeves too long but have you washed yours yet? Wondering if these shrink as much as some of the terry Made sweats?
@anthonyv9933 I did wash it, didn’t notice a difference.

Fuel cell definitely breaks in, same with the 990v6.

Thank you I literally had one of these in my cart and I kept seeing lots of mixed reviews so I couldn't decide
I hope it helps 🙏🏼
Thanks for the update video! I've been really interested in the new 991v2 model so this was really helpful!
Sweet man!!
Yo @DylanLey your voice sux ok
I hope New Balance restocks the 991 v2 in their grey coloray soon. Looking forward to getting these.

You got them at the same time, or thev1 are an older pair? Clearly much better looking suede than the v2's... at least in the video..
I grabbed the v1 about a week ago after buying the v2.
Hmm... i think you said it was a different color, the quality control issues, and do you think the suede is the same quality?@@guynkicks keep it up with the good vids 👊
I got both v1 and v2, it feels like v2 is surprisingly easy to break in…

Somebody in the New Balance subreddit I saw today just found Nd bought a pair of V2 for $150
Luckily the v2 did go on sale at some shops.
@guynkicks I'm on a lookout for them. Thx!

Yo bro a little bit random but what is the model name of your glasses?
From Warby Parker the Chamberlain model.
Looks like the peeps at New Balance got in touch with you since the last review 😂
Honestly wish that were true 🤣
I was waiting for this lol... I thought you seemed very disappointed on your initial review. Maybe because you had too high of expectations?
🤣 I did! But I’m glad I gave them a try and didn’t return them.
Great video as always.
But not related to the video, what’s your fav 990v6 so far?
Hyped V6 definitely the Lapis and Kith MSG; GR v6 the cream and grey CWs. If I had to pick just one then the Lapis.
He didn’t like them until Matt Welty said it was shoe of the year #dorks
🤣🤣🤣
Matt Welty is not wrong
V2 looks so much nicer
I’m in the market for a 991v2, let’s get it

More snug? more room? True to size?
Yeah I believe I can fit a 9.5 as well. I went with a size 10 and there’s definitely some room but not to the point where I’m like damn they fit too big.
I go TTS in the 991v1 and 990v2.
