One other major factor that I believe played a part here was the fact that, being a furry, you start to gain confidence in yourself AS your fursona. It lets you speak while you don't feel like you're being put on the spot or stared at by everyone, and creates this sort of mental safety barrier, allowing a lot of fura I know and have known to become completely different people when they suit up. They become more outgoing, confident, and not afraid to talk to anyone, even when I know the individual day to day barely speaks and keeps to the back row, as it were, socially. Because we are so welcomed and treated fairly by the community at events/conventions/online/etc. and there is so much support, it helps build up stronger confidence and courage.
The issue is the company will just drag it out for months or even years to render him unable to continue paying to pursue legal action. It's stupid but that's america for you
You know, this made me think: Most companies got rid of mascots and oversimplified their logos. But now we can use mascots against them. Mascots are symbols, MEMES, figures that represent a whole ideal. We definitely should make mascots to highlight societal issues in a way that is easily memeable and will make corpos react instantly.
7:07 Most CEOs literally are disconnected to the rest of society. Living in gated communities or so far away from their workers. Hanging around with other CEOs that just reinforce their beliefs about the lower classes. IMO CEOs and rich people do nothing but hang around with other rich people and talk shit about everyone else.
I've been working for a union company for nearly 7 years now and management can be extremely corrupt at times. If you know your union contract rights and mind your p's and q's they just about can't touch you. When they try to pull something stupid and you request a union steward to be present for ANY disciplinary action they get their act together REAL quick. That and the laundry list of other benefits is the only reason I've been with the company I have for as long as I have. It's a shame it's so difficult to get unions set up in non-union companies.
Unions are essential. I'm happy to see so much momentum for unionization right now. I hope it keeps growing. We should start a furry union. I don't know why, but we should do it because reasons.
I got fired from my job at the aquarium for trying to stand up for myself, I had a panic attack and they deemed me “Unstable” and “Violent” when I had my life ahead of me

Unions and Starbucks aside, I can seriously relate to the guy when he says that it boosted his confidence greatly when wearing a fursuit. I used to be extremely shy and introverted after years of bullying and abuse from those around me throughout my life. I still remember the first time I put on my very first fursuit though. The free-ness you feel from it, and that click of realisation that you can do what you want (within legal reasons) without anyone recognising you, or (social) repercussions for however you act. It's incredibly liberating and it really does open your mind and lift your confidence.
In today's world, Unions can be either a good thing or a bad thing. A good thing because it can bring need change for working conditions. A bad thing because when they either just take workers money and not do anything, Intimate employers and in some cases even employees for politically motivated reasons, or pushing for something that can ultimately cause small business to go bankrupt or find a way to cut labor costs to stay afloat.
yeah, it's perfectly legal for employers to be like "unions bad" like, i had whole training videos and lessons and stuff in job orientations about "unions are bad and here's why" stupid stuff it's insane

This dog has amazing public speaking skills. You really got an uphill battle wearing a fur suit in that situation and I think he owned that. It’s funny cause a suit is such a loud outfit; due to the content he was supporting it only drew more eyes without pulling it into question, which is awesome.
Former starbucks employee here. Starbucks management has always been topsy-turvey and shady. (Basically allowed to do or say whatever they want. I was bullied out of my workplace due to management 🤪) They expect you to complete drinks within 1 min of ordering, which is virtually impossible. There’s constant pressure to be faster, even when we had a full house and then some. Minimum wage = minimum effort.
God when I worked at a Starbucks kiosk we had a constant issue with the sanitizer being to strong and causing minimal chemical skin damage and when I left they still hadn't fixed it
Gonna be honest here: there is very little that catches people's attention like a fursuiter in front of a microphone. Nothing turns heads quite like it and however you might feel about it, once they've got your attention there's no getting it back as soon as you hear what's happened. We all know the economy is bad, but most of us feel powerless to do jack about it - and then there's Apollo, in his white husky/wolf/arctic fox/whatever suit, standing there doing what you haven't had the courage to do yourself before now. He's got my respect for that.
My trans friends that work for them have been talking the threat to their transgender-inclusive health-care benefits. All in a push to keep people from unionizing.
How management probably saw him: A rabid mutt that needs to be leashed and muzzled while nearby How most people appear to see him: A good dog that's kind, quiet, and friendly (likely to be cared for by other kind souls)
For me a german unions are natural and back in the days americans tought of us as communist because of the strong unions we always had. This was useful in trough the economiccrisis since the worker and employer found a way to keep the workers by redouce Worktime instead of fire them.
3:12 Employers of the states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina, & others, this *ESPECIALLY* concerns you. I've seen Unions be threatened & blackmailed down, both somewhat oftentimes at ACTUAL loaded gunpoint, into not unionizing. And it's gone one of two ways: Police defer to the employer personally & actively threatening the survival of employees bc "he's the employer, & he calls the shots"; police are called, but they never show up; or nobody calls either police about, or employers on, this level of dogshit bc they're terrified of the reporocussions from said managers.
10:39 I need to expand on this point. People have a certain trait that, among positive things, makes them, let's say, "socially weak" when exposed. You say he's doing great in the video, but there's the thing: HE HAS (a fur) ARMOR. You cannot even look at the person beneath; he is shielded from exposure, and thus can bypass his fears and use his social skills unimpeded. He can speak not despite having a fur suit, he can speak BECAUSE he has a fur suit.
For many people, putting on a costume, specially costumes that provide a drastic enough change in appearance, provides a significant boost in confidence.
The suit gave him the power of making the CEO say "Oh my god, people are GOING to talk about this! Corporate, shut it down right now! Wha-- I don't care about any legal details, whatever he wins is nothing compared to what we're going to lose! Shut it the ████ down NOW!"
Joann fabric is as scummy of a company as this situation. I use to work for one and one store in my district went on strike. None of them are no longer in employment. Managers and store managers get a bonus for forcing the store to be understaffed. They give crappy hours and crappy pay and their benifits are crap. They will work you as a full time employee during September to December and then make your hours drop 90%. They will promise you lies and never act on anything they promise you. The higher ups ignore their leading stores and never keep up on maintenance. A store “remodel” that was due years ago just gave the store 5 new computers. Your equipment is like smashing rocks onto something until it works and they roast their employees alive and know about it. It was 120°f (about 48°c) in the store and I get a coupon email that said “waiting in line to hot to stand, order online and skip the line with this 20% off coupon” it pissed me off as I almost dangerously passed out three times that shift. Other companies need to wake up as well and listen to employees as people and not just numbers.
It’s such a culture shock to me to see how union are so popular in a capitalist country , in my homeland unions are extremely limited and now the state banned a lot of people from joining union
If you think about it a fursuit is the perfect superhero costume because people don’t usually know who is in the suit unless shown if your scared or stressed you won’t show it because no one sees your face and they are somewhat fluffy so they absorb some damage.
My jobs union helped get masks during pandemic and other safety equipment. They fought for yearly wage raises and are working toward an increase. Unions are collective organizing by employees for bargaining power against big power wielding employees. The aim is to leverage and balance power for employees to ensure fairer treatmebt+protect from abuse. Yes, there are fees when with a union. But the whole idea that they take more than what you earn is bullshit. I've been on both sides. And by the numbers, you get more with the union than what you pay into the union. They protect and provide ideas, and help remind power drunk employers that you are a person.
For those against furries, let me set a few terms straight for oyu. Furry: a person who is a fan of anthropomorphic media. Anthropomorphic: a non hunam that contains human traits. Fursona: a personality or character of a ficticious anthropomorphic entity. Common things that furries are fans of include mickey mouse, paw patrol, scooby doo, spngebob squarepants, inside out, chester cheeta, tucan sam, and much much more. To judge someone basted on their fandom of choice is descriminatory behavous, and there are thousands of fandoms. Sports contain an anthropomorphic mascot for almost if not every single team reguardless of sport, except racing. If you do not like cartoon characters, and hate them with so much vitriol, please make your way to the nearest exit. you are not from this planet, and do not deserve to live here.
I totally get why people are put off by it, because while it doesn't have to be a sexual thing it often is. Of course that icks some people out. Sure, there's people who sexualize stuff in their fan circles but it's rarely as extensive as in the furry community. That's not an excuse to be a dick about it, though.
Everyday I feel like the furry fandom is becoming a whole society in itself 😆 I just see news and achievements involving the fandom popping up more often and I'm really happy about that.
I feel that any "violent and threatening" firing claim not accompanied with legal action is incredibly suspicious on part of the employer. For multiple possible reasons.
I get that the furry said that he has a hard time stepping up for himself and people might contradict that because you see him in front of a huge crowd and talking out loud but if you look closely at his body language you will notice that his fingers are fidgeting and going in and out clenching into his palm that is literally a sign of him close to having a panic attack....... This guy had some huge balls and he actually finished his speech, CLAPS CLAPS CLAPS F*** STARBUCKS
22:56 They're not actually out of touch. This sort of language is intentional rhetoric targeted at persuading the general population who may be less familiar with what a union is and what it does. They're well aware that their employees want to work, but in order to maintain public support, they can't simply say "Well, we just don't want to pay them more." They have to couch that sentiment in some other form of supportable "moral ethic" that the general population will tend to agree with, and one of the most effective ways of doing that just so happens to be claiming that the unionizers are lazy and don't want to work. It gives the public the perception that if the workplace unionizes, their experience with the business will decrease in quality. "If Starbucks unionizes, they won't be as good anymore because the employees won't be working hard anymore." It's a devious tactic and one that is recommended by the union-busting consultancy companies that they spend millions of dollars working with to make themselves look better while simultaneously making their workers' lives worse.
Really glad to see this. I’m from up in Seattle and was visiting a few months ago where I saw some Starbucks employees on a union strike. Didn’t know they were so anti-union.
I would love to know how someone who makes basicly minimum wage or close to it can steal $20,000 in nine months. That is $100 a day 5 days a week for 9 months. No one who actualy thinks about it would ever believe that it ever happened including the cops who would 100% be called with that level of theft. I call bullshit that it ever happened. For me to believe it I would have to see the police report that this person was arrested and the court date that they actualy are being prosecuted.
I was wrong with my first comment. I deleted it because i misinterpreted title as a furry destroying property but i see the furry chose a peaceful approach to crafting a work union. He gives the nondestructive, kind, and good hearted furries a good reputation and shows not all of us are messed up in the head and violent. He is like me. I have trouble standing up for myself too unless im 150% angry. That is only difference. Michael/Apollo is a hero to nonfurries and furries alike. He is an awesome person and I can say he is one of the 1 or 2 furries i seen protesting. It is so cool. Its awesome when furries and non furries and get together for a single cause and work together in unison. It is truly inspiring
7:00 Technically, it isn't managers as a whole, but managers of big companies. Starbucks is a big company and big companies can be very greedy. The same thing goes for a lot of big businesses.
Realistically, even though it is illegal for employers to fire you on the grounds of unionizing, most people that end up in that situation don’t have the funds for a legal battle to prove their point. It’s such a shame.
9:57 Dunno, it looks like he's doing a pretty smashing job of standing up for himself to me. I can't even imagine going to a protest with my social axiety.
the thing is as I've heard being in suit gives you the internet like animosity irl... so for him it's as easy to do this as making any other generic post on twitter.
Unions are either the workers cooperating for better benefits and more fair conditions or a group of workers that take in union dues and provide nothing until enough members get fed up and quit.
and this is what im noticing form the starbucks unionization. i can see a benefit for an amazon union because logistics is there and its hard labor intensive. not from the current baristas.
nothing is more threatening to a "sweep it under a rug" operation than someone who draws attention to it simply by existing.

The person fired for forming a Union they can Sue for wrongful termination . Winning such a suit can garner millions ..
I don’t think an ordinary person could pay court fees for potential Months in America.

Most CEOs literally are disconnected to the rest of society. Living in gated communities or so far away from their workers. Hanging around with other CEOs that just reinforce their beliefs about the lower classes. IMO CEOs and rich people do nothing but hang around with other rich people and talk shit about everyone else.
That just feels pretty universal to most societal groups in my experience. CEOs just have power, advantage and influence to implement their bad takes
This is the definition of being a BRAVE CHAD, we need brave furries like him !
Knowing all the haters out there, probably gonna be against this just because it's furries. America ladies and gentlemen! 👍
Unions are essential. I'm happy to see so much momentum for unionization right now. I hope it keeps growing. We should start a furry union. I don't know why, but we should do it because reasons.
being a furry in a nutshell "just be yourself"
I got fired from my job at the aquarium for trying to stand up for myself, I had a panic attack and they deemed me “Unstable” and “Violent” when I had my life ahead of me
I live about 30 minutes from this Starbucks location and was shocked to see a furry on the local news🤣. This is great, and Apollo seems like a good person. I wish he'd join our local Kansas City chat group and meetups!
also it's in the middle of the day so it must be fucking scorching in that suit. the dedication of this man.
The assertive dominance of treathing people with violent behaviour: aww that's adorable I want to hug you!
I said that the furry would lose and now I'm here getting bullied by my friends of how severely wrong I am damn.
Omg another furry in Kansas that's honestly sooo rare especially since I thought I was the only one for the longest time besides my cousin so yeah but I'm glad they was safe during the union and everything \^~^/
(Kansas furry here) I know right? It feels as if theres very few furries here.
Its curious! And sad
@@BryantVonMiller yeah very few sadly but it always puts a smile on my face to hear that there are some of around ^~^
Indiana furry here.
I feel this..
@@LevitheEldritchAbomination no kidding my bf lives in Indiana X3 but yep even he would relate
@@LunaRosaOkami Oh I'm sorry! RUclips didn't let me know you replied.
Its great to know some of us exist! It also makes me wonder.. if anyone I meet in public is a furry.
It'd be nice to meet someone who was one, have talks about it face to face.. Rather then just texts on a screen.
The fact that I live laughably close to Overland Park, Kansas, like less than a ten minute drive close, makes this oddly personal.
I bet it differently helps that fursuits are usually of characters, so you can take on a different personality. :)
I can only imagine. Just wearing my covid mask gives me a HUGE boost in confidence.
@@sonicdemon2737 Now imagine how that feels, but with a full head-covering! :D
Browsing the internet without an adblocker is like going to one of _those_ con parties without protection.
No seriously, online advertisements are an actual vector for malware. You really should consider installing an adblocker.
They're afraid that he will become a mascot and can mobilize more people then a normal person...
I mean, isn't a protest a matter to be noticed while you are talking about what is needed?
So this dude's doing great, it's so good to see a personal character gives you so much confidence irl
A labor union is an organized association of workers, often in a trade or a profession, formed to protect and further their rights and interests.
“Threatening behavior”
Literally standing there like
“Am Pupper”
They are not out of touch, they know exactly what they are doing. Filling their pockets.
This dog has amazing public speaking skills. You really got an uphill battle wearing a fur suit in that situation and I think he owned that. It’s funny cause a suit is such a loud outfit; due to the content he was supporting it only drew more eyes without pulling it into question, which is awesome.
honestly I keep hearing "Apollo" and I know it's spelled "Apollo", but as a furry name, I was entirely expecting it to be spelled "Apawllo" :P
Today i went outside and tried cycling with a bicicle that is tiny, every direction that was'nt down was pain
How management probably saw him: A rabid mutt that needs to be leashed and muzzled while nearby
How most people appear to see him: A good dog that's kind, quiet, and friendly (likely to be cared for by other kind souls)
He literally wearing a fursuit and talking in public, meanwhile I am afraid of talking to the cashier 💀
Crazy, Loving the videos beta, thanks for the content!
For me a german unions are natural and back in the days americans tought of us as communist because of the strong unions we always had.
This was useful in trough the economiccrisis since the worker and employer found a way to keep the workers by redouce Worktime instead of fire them.
Hi another WA furry here :3 currently going through the unionization process if ya’ll have any WA specific questions :3
5:28 he looks like hes going to smack you with that bruh 💀
The heart that is needed to unite the hands of the workers and heads of the managers is missing.
Workers unions CAN be good. It depends on what you're looking for. And how comfortable you are making less money than you're supposed to.
There should be starbucks furry events as a tribute ☕️ 🐾
remember everyone! corporations are not, and never are your friends
And it's gone one of two ways:
Police defer to the employer personally & actively threatening the survival of employees bc "he's the employer, & he calls the shots"; police are called, but they never show up; or nobody calls either police about, or employers on, this level of dogshit bc they're terrified of the reporocussions from said managers.
5:29 that is intimidating imagine waking up looking out your window and seeing that slowly walk up to your house
Okay, it's official. Furrys are awesome.
From the start, untill the end of the world!
*Been official
My best guess is it's just corruption in the workplace as usual.
I’m glad about this, I’m glad I was suggested this!!! Go everyone, do what makes you happy!
If you think about it a fursuit is the perfect superhero costume because people don’t usually know who is in the suit unless shown if your scared or stressed you won’t show it because no one sees your face and they are somewhat fluffy so they absorb some damage.
Fair point. I had to read your comment a few times to actually get your point to the atrocious lack of punctuation.
I am darn sick of people doing this to workers. Heartless 😞😞
Ninguém se importa, nem é importante
"I wouldn't get a drink from them" I WILL BE WILL SMITH
Everyday I feel like the furry fandom is becoming a whole society in itself 😆 I just see news and achievements involving the fandom popping up more often and I'm really happy about that.
It's threatening to their bottom line and that's all they care about.
I feel like Apollo is very based, and I do feel like many work places really need Unions even you Walmart.
"I don't know what unions are, I just know they are good"
I feel that any "violent and threatening" firing claim not accompanied with legal action is incredibly suspicious on part of the employer.
If the website is blocking adblockers, there's an extension that can block adblock blockers.
and that's when the websites start making addblock blocker blocker blockers
It's probably the fur suit giving him strength and courage.
How though
@@SmuckEmOut like a mental barrier, other people explain it better
Starbucks is not coffee. What it is, is caffeinated smoothies.
Its funny when a company which threatens their employees would slowly crumble.
I can't believe this literally took place just an hour north from where I live
It took a long time and a lot of sh**y work situations but Starbucks is finally starting to unionize in Ontario Canada.
2:43 Well Starbucks that's one way to prank someone.
Walmart spends millions of dollars every year on jet fuel on their team of union busters...
This is America
Ah hell nah now the furrys are distorting my primary Coffey supply
Unions are basically groups of workers uiniting to get better conditions.
I love you for blurring the ads
“I would like one frap-pup-ccino”
“Get out”
7:00 Technically, it isn't managers as a whole, but managers of big companies.
9:57
Dunno, it looks like he's doing a pretty smashing job of standing up for himself to me. I can't even imagine going to a protest with my social axiety.
the thing is as I've heard being in suit gives you the internet like animosity irl... so for him it's as easy to do this as making any other generic post on twitter.
Just imagine if all furries formed a collective union, the fur-sters, and the collective bargaining of that supergroup could collapse nations
