- Sky News host Chris Kenny says retired Special Forces major Heston Russell’s fight against the ABC is an “astonishing case of media treachery”.
“There was a big reaction to what I had to say about the ABC last night after Heston Russell and the Channel Seven Spotlight program exposed the manipulation, trickery and incorrect information ABC journalists used to try to portray Russell and his soldiers as murderous war criminals,” Mr Kenny said.

But according to the Channel Seven Spotlight report - the compensation or damages money will come from TAX PAYER MONEY and its reached an expected payout of over THREE MILLION ( ? ) or near this, when originally it would not have cost Australian Tax Payers NOTHING if ABC had just apologised to him in the first - which they REFUSED even after being found guilty.. The money should come from the GUILTY ABC AND NOT INNOCENT TAX PAYER MONEY. Now they have not only WRONGED this war hero but now they have also WRONGED Australian Tax Payers too. THEY - THE ABC - SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY IT INSTEAD.

(2) That was not a civilian. That gentleman had seconds earlier been shooting at Heston's team from the back of a Bike.
(3) Heston was not shooting. Heston was commanding.

If we can't close the ABC, we need to make ABC "Journalists" personally financially accountable for defamation lawsuits - why should the taxpayer carry the cost of their personal vendettas?
The ADF leadership failed from the get go. Chain of command control, responsibility and accountability as per the Yamashita principle. The ADF leadership know exactly what they did, every single officer understands this. But instead, they avoided real accountability (removing a few medals from officers is not holding them accountable) and threw Troopers and Commando under the bus. The ADF leadership failings in AFG and IRQ were profound both from a strategic and tactical perspective. The ABC behaviour is equally as bad, if not worse, manufacturing evidence to support a narrative is a disgraceful act perpetrated by a poor company, with poor ethos and ethics.
The managing director of ABC will never apologise, because that would be an admission of guilt. Just take them to court for slander, and the Federal government should be charging them with criminal treason frequenting endangerment of Australian citizen lives.

Yea brilliant Kenny as soon as I finished watching that Spotlight story I tried to find the Media Watch story on the poor journalism at the ABC but was disappointed that sadly they treated it as if it never occurred.
And even worse Paul Barry took the week off. Obliviously since he had to criticize the ABC on its handling of the Cardinal Pell he doesn't like admitting that the ABC is possible of poor journalism.
It will never change until the individuals (themselves) are held responsible and face the consequences. Too often the people who are actually guilty face no real punishment. In fact, quite the opposite and the ABC seem unable or unwilling to see the lasting harm they are doing to people. Maybe they don't care if it doesn't suit their agenda.

The ABC - are not behind the door in padding up a story. The problem in this case - is who told the ABC - this person - had done something wrong and clearly he was innocent. The problem for the ABC - is they did not do their due diligence. If other sources said this person - was a solid character.
They did not consider - someone else lied to them about this person. The other problem for the ABC is if you do investigative work - it's no different to policing. You must follow up all sources - not the ones - you want to believe.
This is a serious case - they released the footage of someone firing a rifle. And the footage had been tampered with - and extra "shots" were added to the sound - that were not fired. So the ABC either "doctored" the footage - or had someone do it for them.
And the footage out the helicopter door - was not the raid - that this person was on.
The ABC can deny - all the wrong doing. That still points to an inside job. In other words - just like the detectives in the old days - manufacture the "evidence."
This is no different to old style police corruption. That the ABC railed against for years. The ABC is guilty of the same crimes.
The ABC has to be investigated - by outside investigators - lead by a senior judge. As to the custody of the film footage. All emails - text messages. This is why - people don't trust the media anymore. And the ABC - are showing here - they invent "evidence" parade it as fact. That is corruption. That is serious corruption. To destroy the reputation of someone - they totally got wrong. That this matter - is not over. The ABC - should be paying millions to the person - they sought to destroy. They can't now hide behind the fact - they want it to go away. They have been caught out - in very deep corruption. That means the whole ABC - is corrupt. ABC senior management is corrupt.
The ABC is just as corrupt - as what it accused others of - for many years. It seems though left wing media think they are above reproach. They are not. And A royal commission into the ABC - needs to be called.

The case did not cost the ABC $2.8 million, it cost you and me, the taxpayers, $2.8 million. There are only two possible explanations, incompetence or malicious intent. More likely the latter. The ABC needs to be held to account, starting with any money they have wasted on the story or the legal action to be removed fifty-fold from their budget. I don’t watch ABC news or current affairs anymore because every time, every single time, I did their reporting was (and I assume still is) either overtly or subtly biased against anything that does not support the leftist narrative. Going after our military members and veterans is just one facet of this bias. Gunshots are not added and videos are not resequenced “by mistake”. That requires deliberate and malicious intent. The ABC needS to be defunded and re-organised as a subscription service, required to live or die based on commercial reality. See how long they last.

Our last two Liberal governments didn’t take the opportunity to rein in the ABC. It should have at least be privatised. It is totally out of control with its left wing ideologies at our taxpayers’ expense. I certainly hope the next LNP government will overhaul the Station if not shut it down or vastly reduce funding .
