Hello, I have a simple question : why is the word " Traditional " and " Kata" being used when the video is clearly not Traditional nor is it a Iaido, Iaijutsu or Battodo Kata and has no historical connection to Japanese Budo, Bugei or Bujutsu . I am confused by the use of nomenclature. Thank you for sharing my time and would greatly appreciate and answer to this confusing paradigm.
@@azarelthecreator7098 no its a thing that the samurai would do to ''de blood'' the katana. its norm at the end of a kata now when ur training or at least our dojo teaches it but ik other dojo teach dif.
the cuts were all good. The kata, if one can call that like this, was fantasy. But the cuts were ok. Not perfect, not very very good, but very ok. If he had a sharp sword, you would not want to stand there. besides that, the katana does not need to be "real". there are "real" training katanas, called iaito. He had also quite good control over the moves, he was doing. So all in all, yes, it is made up fantasy swinging, but the technique was good. Greetings from an Iaidoka.
There would also be no blood on a traditionally sharp katana. The blood wouldnt flow until after the blade passed through. thats 100% for show and doesnt serve a real purpose in battle just like the fact that the bohi isnt really a blood channel its to make the sword lighter and to make more sound when it swings. A lot of traditional katana do not even have a bohi for extra cutting power.
It's impossible to list what is wrong in this. Almost everything, starting even before the "kata"... What Koryu did produce this painful thing? The guy did not even performed a "chiburui" which is displayed IN EVERY SINGLE KATA whatever the ryu ha... And please, who are the clowns sat behind a table, and what criteria will they use to judge of this ridiculous dance of the sword? Please call this the way you want but don't use "traditionnal" "kata" and "katana"... This is a disgrace and an embarassment. (Multiple "noto" are probably to gain extra points) There probably is somewhere in Japan, a place where people practice western shooting, dressed as cow-boys. They certainly respect the disciplin and are less ridiculous than this old chap.
@@eriglebrundelabouexiere472 While I understand your harsh criticism I do not feel it is inappropriate to label as Katana Kata because that is what is regardless of the actual quality. "Traditional" is the real word in question here... Also wether any of this would even be practical in actual combat. I also get that because it is a "championship" exhibition where you are coming from. I personally practice with bokken but have no actual "training" hence lack of "tradition" but I am also just doing this in my room for exercise and make no claim that I know what I'm doing at all. 🤡
@@EnochDark I have nothing against people who swing bokkens in their bedrooms. Or even iaitos or live blade katanas if they want to take that risk... I just prefer them not to pose as experts in this kind of ridiculous conventions, dressed as clowns and performing meaningless moves. I don't want kids to believe this is the way a japanse sword has to be used. Why don't they look for a true japanese dojo, with a proper sensei rather than inventig their own "disciplin" in their kitchen?
@@eriglebrundelabouexiere472 Well good. and yes i agree if you are going to take the time to dress up in the attire and take it to an exhibition that you should probably know what you are doing! I have seen much worse than this though, especially in "Karate" with all the screaming and break-away board BS. For me it's a matter of money as I already have my mom helping me pay for Yoga as it is...
He looks like he’s Master Ken’s father. Very bad swordskill, but I bet this is an Americanized katanastyle just for show…. He should return to suburi basics From the basic stance instead of meaningless swordwielding.
Nothing traditional about it. I do applaud him doing Katana but should not make your own kata without knowing the basics. Good luck to him in the future.
@@chinaleighshawtymane thanks man. i just get tired of all the negativity on videos like this and assume most of it is from people who don't even do any kind of martial arts or even exercise.

Looks like a Mahukai-Do kata made by Soke Mike Hurst
чи впливає сила звуку і правильність вимови на силу удару і його влучність?

Good result for "american ultimate katana martial art".
Not real iaido......just a middle aged man making sound effects when he swings sword......the cuts are non existent

This is not a traditional form. Too many mistakes. Noto is incorrect. Maybe start learning from a real traditional Sensei.

For those of you who think I'm a couch potato,I have been training in karate, kobudo and tegumi since 1965
That "kata" is like listening to someone try and speak a language they dont know. Total gibberish.
