03:43 This is one of those things that make WKF sport karate ridiculous. The taller athlete got a penalty for excessive contact. That's insane. It was literally no more than a touch. He couldn't have possibly made lighter contact than that. He merely extended his arm and you can tell that he pulled the punch as much as he could. His opponent LEAPED into it, head held high, without protecting himself in any way. He's 100% responsible for getting tagged. It's one of the many ways how sport karate rewards the wrong athlete.
@@bboyudon absolutely, as a non karate guy, i was shocked when i heard that. that seems like such a mcdojo thing to do, and they do it at the world championship, like what!?
he literally asked to get punched like that; that what makes the tempo of kumite competition lame and not realistic as you said. tall guy has the advantage of reacheing further, why did AO attack just like that, with no real intent of defending himself afterwards? AKA seemed rightfully surprised imo
Combat sports are a civilised agreement between professional athletes. Since the average street attacker is untrained and uncivilised, no combat sport can ever recreate actual fighting.
@freddy hand to ha d combat was never meant to be considered civilized. Fighting for your life with your bare hands is about as primitives as things get .
I participated in point karate tournaments back In the day (70s & 80s). So far removed from real fighting. I used to get frustrated that a man 50 lbs lighter than me could score a point on me that could do no real damage & I could counter with a technique that in real life would have obliterated him, but because he tagged me first he got the point. The particular martial art I practiced eventually went to three two minutes rounds of nonstop sparring, with the four corner judges determining the winner & the Referee was the tiebreaker. Much more realistic & fair.
Nhee The two matches between aghayev and matsuhisa are way better, the first Luigi busa x horuna bout was way much better too, and the match in team match Rene smaal vs zabiolah poorshab are also better
First time seeing a match like this . Do they tag the other person to get points ? How are points scored , can they score a point by touching a leg or arm or does it have to be the torso ?
To score a point you need to land a significant clean strike that is visible. They let out a Kiai (short shout) to vouch they landed a solid hit, then this is determined by the referee to either keep playing or score a point if he witnessed a clean strike. If they both hit each other in the same time it doesn’t count. Arms and legs don’t count. Torso, head, and back are allowed. Sweeps can happen too. The different attacks landed scores you more points. Head / torso strike = 1 point, kick to the torso / back = 2 points, kick to the head = 3 points That’s basically it
@@mrnoodles9035 but what your saying refutes me. How can this be? Such a paradox. What if I punch him out is that 3 points or just 1? Okay just 1. But then he kicked me first for 3 points so the score is 3 to 1 him and he is dead and I am alive. So is it better to lose than win? Is this like golf where points are but an illusion? I hate sports and just want to fight outside the ring but they won't let me 🤦♂️. Sometimes in sports they cheat and the rules are designed for idiotic purposes which leaves me feeling discontented. If you don't know the Karate rules, it's hard to understand. A guy kicks far over the head of the other one, who avoids the kick - and then he gets 3 points for that? Why? The annimation which I guess is supposed to show what happened shows sth completely different. As I said: I don't know the rules, so I'm asking so I can learn.
World Karate Federation using clickbait titles???!!! Is this the type of discipline you teach? Not to mention that it was already hard for a kyokushin karateka to watch a non kyokushin fight, waiting for the "best" stuffs to come as per the title!!!
Karate in this style is good, but the constant resets after each strike is no good. A reset after a knockdown would make the most sense so that it's actually a fight.
I don't love it either but it's a sport, not a real fight. Every sport has its rules and clearly the idea here is not even to try to simulate real fighting conditions.
Have you ever watched karateka like Ronnie Christopher, Elwyn Hall, Frank Brennan, Dave Hazard?? See these and see if you still think this is the best ever.
@@d.9433 In fact his opponent was a moving ( in-comming) target and after all he hasn't sustained much damage. Some control must have been applied, that is to say. I think that this was an unfair judgement.
