Cindy Blackman Santana is arguably the world's greatest living drummer, full stop. I know this footage is from ten years ago, but I've been hip to her work since the early 1990s, and as far as I can tell she just gets better as the years go by...
@@epipen1033 I'm a bass player, dumb ass. I have probably forgotten more about drummers and drumming than you will ever know. Does that answer your question? As far as your absurd idea that I'm being ridiculous is concerned, can you name any other drummer currently active who (among other things) embodies the spirit of the late Art Blakey as well as Ms. Blackman-Santana?
She’s probably the greatest drummer in the category of that free style aggressive approach. But if you’re looking for a more composed drummer with more organized patterns, she would not be in that category
@@ramencurry6672 Maybe. But having played with more jazz-oriented drummers (and, notably, one rock drummer) who have a more improvisatory (or improvisational) approach to drumming and also those who take a much more compositional approach (as a majority of rock & pop drummers tend to do), my preference is very definitely for the former. Obviously, your experience and/or preference may differ. If you or anyone else prefers a more composed style of drumming, that's perfectly fine- it's all music, after all. Besides, there are absolutely forms of music where strictly composed parts played exactly the same way each time are required. I haven't ever played any of those types of music, not because I don't like it but because I am not particularly well-suited for or interested in playing it. I would be willing to bet that Ms. Blackman-Santana could play that way if she wanted to, but one of the reasons I like her playing so much is because she usually chooses to play the sort of music I like...
She probably sounds better because Lenny’s music is rock n roll type. Rock music is limiting for improvisational free flow unless if it’s a jam band type
A friend sent me this video saying, "Check out this guitarist." I started it playing in the background, and went about my business. I was quickly back thinking, "Sure, guitarist is good, but who's the *drummer*!?!?" I can't believe I never heard of Cindy Blackman before! Tight but loose! Love it! Great playing, great sound, nice visuals. My one wish with this is that the video were better synced with the audio. It's off enough that I'm more comfortable just listening than watching it.
Absolutely awesome! My only criticism goes to the sound mixer: most of the time the bass guitar is too much in the background, it would deserve more prominence.
Exceptionnel concert. Tout comme son récent passage avec Carlos Santana au British Summer Time de Londres ou elle illumina la soirée par la finesse de son jeu. A quand un concert de Cindy Blackman en France ?
Cindy Blackman thumbs up

What credentials do you possess to make such an (ridiculous) assertion?

that sync up (or out!) is unbearable for me. Fine if you're just listening.
Great drumming but the tunes...
