They couldn't put a switch on it because the switch repositions the pawl. The fact that it has 6 pawls makes it basically impossible to switch all six.
At first glance I thought "these look pretty cool", my next thought was "jeezus, the heads are huge, no thanks." The 1.7 degree swing is great in tight places, as long as it's not a tight space near the head.
Nice looking wrenches… I have a set of SK wrenches I bought in 1980 when I was 17 I still have them and have never had a problem with them … thick handles and comfortable in your hand
Have both sets and think there the bees knees it's a shame great star bought them out hope they keep them usa made remains to be seen glad I got mine before that happend
I could have definitely used one of those bad boys today in a 14mm. I needed something in a zero offset, so I had to improvise with some tape and a prayer.
Originally $75.00 but i just bought a set of these and a set of crescent wrenches for less than $30.00 at Lowe's on clearance. Couldn't pass em up. Clean design too.
Man the proto non slip is the best. I’ve put a cheater bar on those. Very underrated wrench. I like my flank drive and the SK are a big jump up from gear wrench.
I have had a number of these sets as in work, home and road service car that I will tell you they work very well and the tight spots deal they will save you but you must be careful with the smaller ones and breaking stuff loose as in I have had to warranty out some 10mm and 13mm wrenches before so they work but be careful as I said before. The open ends are super tough by the way.
I always liked SK wrenches unfortunately they never had an industrial program so getting them really wasn’t an option for me but I always thought they made really really great tunes
Love my complete sets of SK USA SAE and MM stubbies? Bought them off Ebay like 20 years ago, worth every penny? The chrome is second to none, and still use them to this day. Those X-Frame wrenches have been out for years, but were pretty pricey? Would have bought those wrenches ,if I didn't already own my favorite set of reversible Matco USA Ratcheting wrenches? Thanks for bringing quality USA tools out in the light?
They got bought out by Great Star China. All tooling has moved to China. They are no longer made in the USA. You can still find some USA shelf stock but the chances are low.
When I started out I did a stint at jiffy lube all we had was sk wrenches most so worn out they were useless! I just figured cheap tools so that's why the company bought them but refused to replace them!
The open end flank drive style on my Matco wrenches makes a huge difference in biting down on a fastener and not slipping off as much. Thought it was just a gimmick, but once you actually use them, you will never want to go back to regular open flat end wrenches again? Just my opinion?
holy koon, dead gum that's a set of ratchetin wrenches if I've ever seen 1 n USA n made prty purdy far as I'm concerned 1.7degree 👏 with a lifetime warranty
Clay, trying to listen to teeth moving is useless! Watching backdrag while suspending the wrench is the only way to understand the ratcheting system. I will forever condemn Ideal Industries for selling SK to the Chinese!
Are these back in stock from SK? They went thru an ownership change (again); I got these when they first came out and I need my 10mm warrantied since it occasionally locks up. These wrenches are NOT cheap, but they are fantastic in tight spaces.
No they just got purchased by a Chinese corporation, and there were some internal changes happening so production was on pause. They're introducing some Chinese tools, but hopefully all the important stuff remains American made.
That is a really nice looking Rich said SK has really stepped the game up it looks like I am kind of bummed though that it’s not a 12 point buck stand ratchet though but where did you get it from SK or some other vendor
Too bad they never made these in an off set reversible wrench. I have straight wrenches similar to these and I never use them, I use the offset reversible ones all the time.
I bought the metric befor it was sold to the Chinese company they are stamped USA. I got the sae inc 2 weeks ago the box says made in the usa but the USA stamp isnt on it. I wonder if it was made in Taiwan reason why it isnt stamped USA. Can someone respond if they have the same suspicious.
SK used to be huge in Canada, but not for close to ~30 years, it's like they fell off of the planet.😮 When Macleod's was in business before Ace brought them, all the farmers had multiple sets of SK. Then Rona, then Lowes in turn bought them. SK was one of the fatalities. Sad, really.

They were US made, but now that they're owned by a Chinese corporation who has currently halted production to start the introduction of some tools made in China who knows where they'll be made if production of them will resume. If they don't continue production of the ratchets and sockets here, S-K will officially be a dead brand.
They still make tools in the USA. No different than most companies even if they bring in some “globally sourced components” No different than the phone you are typing on
@@KoonTrucking Does anybody really know what's actually going on at S-K right now ? All I know is that production was on pause, and that the Chinese corporation that now owns them is introducing a number of imported tools including wrenches HJE has decided to stop carrying S-K because they were told that the Wrenches will now be imported, they could have gotten some bad info but they were confident enough in it to make this decision. If they don't then that's great, but I have heard no conformation that it's not going to happen.
They are building stuff in my town, have been working hard getting all the lines back up and going. My wife applied for a Logistics manager there........Got to see everything with her own eyes. They ended up moving jobs around with current employees so it wasn't filled, but getting inside info was nice on this situation.
You need to file a complaint to the FTC for made in USA, since some of the tool set are made in China. Google, file a complaint to FTC and call them, since that is false advertisement. Not to mention breaking many of consumer right laws.
Not a fan of over chrome finish due to makes it extra slippery when hands have grease or oil on them. Don't like the triangle cut outs. Just another hard place to clean crap , oil & grease out of. Hate when quality tool companies are sold. Never know when new company will cut quality to line their greedy pockets.
Sk was my first socket set I bought about 35 years ago. Sad they were sold off to a communist country. I’ll wait to buy anything from them. What’s the use of a lifetime warranty if they possibly won’t be around to fulfill it?
I have always wanted a set of these since they first came out. When I was ready to purchase, they were always out of stock. Kept waiting, but they never materialized and I kind of forgot about them as a result. I have decade's worth of SK tools and love them. With the exception of their phllip head screwdrivers, all have served me well. Seeing "Made in the U.S.A. with foreign components" on the depicted box makes me want to puke! My lifelong love affair with SK Tools just came to a screeching halt. I am not going to support, and pay that kind of money for Communist China produced steel. At least not if I can help it.
The “made in the USA with global components” scam has infiltrated its way across the spectrum. I see it on MAC boxes for example. Sucks, I’m with you brother.

You can clearly see the USA markings on them even in the thumbnail. Hell i take my time and cover in detail and people fuss videos are too long. I speed them up and people fuss about that. Just goes to show no matter what you do you can’t make people happy
It’s a nice wrench but what is disappointing to me was seeing on back of the box..”made in USA with foreign components”..my view is china or Taiwan are making the parts and they’re simply being assembled in USA.
Nope, probably wouldn't pass FTC muster if that's how it works. The wording seems to imply that's just a goal of the company itself, and not the specific tool. That can be further taken by the blank "Made in USA" claim on the front of the box with no further implication and no little asterisk, and the wrenches themselves saying "USA" on them which just having these 3 letters on the product is an unqualified claim of Made in USA. There's no blasting Made in USA all over the place and then putting some teeny tiny print somewhere else going "oh uh yeah foreign stuff." SK's been having enough troubles the last 20 years without trying to attract FTC fines.
I have an important question here. Do the SnapOn screwdrivers fit in the Icon screwdriver tray? I mean since Icon is a copy of SnapOn, and HF has a 25% off coupon thus weekend...
I have had these wrenches for a couple years now and absolutely love them. the low arc swing is something made in dreams.

Will SK keep manufacturing these in the USA now that they were bought out?
I’m sure they will. There’s a long backorder now waiting on them
@Koon Trucking I think I'm going to call Monday and order myself an SAE set, if you had to guess how long will I have to wait?
If they was a 12 point with a 15 degree offset I'd already have some.
You didn't mention the set size range or are they available in metric and imperial sets.. just a hint for some useful content.

For what it’s worth, I saw another video where the explanation was that the 6 pawl technology is incompatible with a reversible switch.

Anyone buy this set, but got the "made on China" variant? Same item number (80019), which seems rather sneaky on SK's part.
That is sneaky
Just bought this set for 230 with tax

Probably your right arm and your left nut. LOL!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂💰

Fastenal/Grainger had them; I picked up mine from a local hardware store. They stock Proto, Wright Tool, SK, and Channellock
They aren’t available anymore. If you find a set still hiding in someone’s inventory, grab them. I don’t think the new SK will be making them anymore
SK still makes them. I know 100% for a fact. Had to wait for them to be made. There’s a huge backorder so it just takes time
