No matter how many times I see it, I still don’t understand how this style of tensioner works. I just did this same job, tensioned correctly but still baffles me how it works. Thanks for the video!
Thank you and I appreciate the info on the belt. I cannot remember what I said in the video but if I said something else, thank you for the correction.
What if your timing belt is busted and the marks are off can i adjust them before i install new timing belt? Can someone please help and explain thank you i also have a Kia soul 2011 2.0
@@operationoverhaul yes and about to get a timing tensioner because i broke the original when i was putting in new timing belt. I already aligned marks for timing cam and crank, i also got the new belt on but it has slack, so i gotta get a new tensioner.i am also aware valves can be bent. Is it a hard job?
@@ernieT29220 If the valves are bent, you will need to remove the head and them repaired. The two biggest things once you have the timing belt off it taking the intake and exhaust manifolds off. Then, you can take the valve cover off and remove the head bolts.
I sure wish you were in Va Beach. I’m going through this right now! Need Timing belt replaced…😢
If I was close to there I would do it. That is just a long drive lol
Watching this convinced me to take the car into the dealer to do the job. 😄
I really looks worse than it is lol.

It is a weird design. Even the VW tensioners are sorta like these. Your welcome and thank you for watching.
Nice job on your video. Kia Motors recommends the timing belt replacement at 60k miles.
