I'm a contruction worker. Wharncliffe is good for cutting long straight lines, has limitations due to having no belly or curvature at all. It'll cut strings off your clothes, open packages, whatever but cut something on a flat surface and you have to delicately chop.
People say it's good for self-defense but stab > slash. DE dagger wins.
It isn't a bad blade shape really, it's nice how the tip stays in what you're cutting. That's why razors are effective, just limited as a blade meant to cut nothing but lines in drywall or something. At least it has the usable tip unlike some sheepsfoots.
Favorite wharncliffe in my collection is probably dead reckon's ridgeback wharncleaver, magnacut/titanium. Strong knife down to the lock, retired it with a working edge tip and the rest sharp because really the tip is most of what you have. Drop point for life.
