This was the first game, growing up, to make me cry. Yuna was also such an amazing character. So strong in all her fragility. Definitely a hero, through and through.
She was so strong!!! To stand up against the injustice of the path of Yu Yevon and basically be seen as a traitor by all of Spira she was so brave and strong!!!
At the time I thought something was wrong with me for crying at the end of this game because I didn’t think video games were capable of doing that, but Kingdom Hearts and especially Tales of Legendia quickly changed my idea of what video games could be.

Best ending in a videogame. Even after more then 20 years and still its very emotional. I hope that you enjoyed, because for me its one of best games ever made.
FFX ending has to be in the top 5 most bittersweet endings in history. Yuna lost her whole family, her soulmate, and her Aeons (whom she loved), to rid the world of Sin. It also shows the difference between real sacrifice, and being taken advantage of. Tidus' death to kill Sin isn't hypocritic to him saying summoners should not be because his death means Sin will never come back. But not just his, Yu Yevon's/Sin's end meant the entirety of the summoned Zanerkand had to die. Though they were dreams of the Fayth, Tidus and Jecht prove they are sentient and very much alive.
ive watched probably a dozen videos of streamers reacting to the end of ffx, and not only do they break down every time but i cry every single time too one of the most beautiful games ever made, a true work of art
I think he's underappreciated by many, as they just see him as annoying or blank. I think he's my favourite of the FF games I've played. He works well as the conduit through which the player discovers spira, but also has his own arc and affect on the story.

“Everyone has lost something precious…” This applies to everyone standing behind Yuna at the end as well. Wakka and Lulu both lost their parents to Sin when they were young. They both lost Chappu, Wakka’s brother, and the man who planned to propose to Lulu. Wakka lost Tidus who he saw as another little brother. Kimahri lost his people in a genocide by Seymour. And Rikku lost many friends and family and home in the Guados’ destruction of Home. They all had to fight to conquer their sorrow and rid the world of Sin. And they did so together.
Congratulations on beating one of the most well-beloved games of all-time, and not just the series!😆 Just to put it ALL in perspective: Yuna is officially the 6th High Summoner--for the 1000 years that Sin held Spira captive, he/it had only been defeated 5 times. Which means the people of Spira would have waited anywhere from generations to centuries for a new Calm, which lasted all of 1 year, give or take a few months. That also means the 10-year wait, between Braska's Calm and Yuna's Calm, was likely one of the shortest spans of Sin being left to do whatever he wanted. My personal theory is that the large statues at the Temples are for the High Summoners, and the smaller statues are the summoners who fought Sin, but failed to kill it; Belgemine being one of the "failed attempts."
This hurts even more when you realize that Wakka is upset as well cause, in his words, Tidus looked like Chappu. So it's almost like he's losing his brother again. :(
This ending wants you to cry at all costs. If you didn't cry with Tidus departure you will cry with this "...the dreams that have faded " (flashback with all the big moments she lived) "...never forget them"
Congratulations of completing 10. If you decided to play the sequel, Not a spoiler so don't worry, when you reach a chapter when you return to the farplain you'll have the option to whistle. PLEASE whistle and whistle some more.
I really hope she plays it too. It's a solid game, if a much different tone than FFX. They still go together quite well and I have such fond memories of both.

Was wondering if we would get tears in the finale and yeah.. Just such a beautiful but sad scene between Yuna and Tidus at the final moment. Some trivia about the song that plays at the beginning of the game and in Jehct's boss fight. It's called "Otherworld" and the lyrics are about Jehct really. Which makes sense since it plays when we first see Sin and in the fight against him. Speaking of Jehct, the symbol both him and Tidus have is the symbol for the Zanarkand Abes. Not only that but it resembles a cross between a J and a T almost.
every friggin time, never fails, I get choked up. the combination that heart breaking music, just the tragedy of it all the horror of those left behind. and of course Yuna and tidus, the animators made us feel that scene. hell the sending of the aeons alone is where I start to break.
So a few things, thank you for trying this game out, it was my first final fantasy and one I almost ritualistically went over to a friends house to play cause I didnt have it myself, it had a hold on the household cause at the time it was the best looking game many of us had ever seen. Aurons theme and Tidus' theme have major music components missing in the remaster, I do not know why they were taken out because they just add so much charcter (aurons has a jazz organ part and tidus has a missing harmonica accompaniment) I implore you to listen to them sometime Hedy Burress who plays Yuna (and honestly the rest of the english cast too) ATE this role up, I was legit watching your reaction at the line "..or the dreams that have faded..) because the way Hedy says it still busts ny grown-ass down, she adds such depth and layering to her voice and I appreciate it everytime I see these reactions. Thank you again for reacting to this, and playing this masterpiece, you've become one of my favourite content creators.
I always loved how the ending didn't give you one big tearjerker moment but instead several smaller salt-in-the-wound details, and I think that's why it still emotionally resonates today. It tells its ending the same way the pain of losing someone presents in myriad ways and never truly leaves us. When she's hurting from the fall and a fayth crosses right in front of her eyes, almost taunting her. The way Tidus can't perfectly hug Yuna before he goes because he can't feel her and overlaps her form a little. The way the whistles have a perfect rhythm and more power to tip off that she's been practicing for weeks. The way Lulu has to just come get her to bring her back to real life when everyone else has moved on. It's those priceless details, man.
I’d love to get to it one day but for now I’m so excited for Spider-Man 2 and then next year Rebirth and eventually Kingdom Hearts but I’ll get to that too!!

I played this game for the first time in '02. Couldn't wait to get it after FFVIII. Went to the closest JB Hi-Fi and bought it immedieatly when I was 19. Playing the HD remake now and the ending still makes my eyes sweat.
There is just something extremely beautiful about this game that deserves the wow you gave it. I played it in 2002 on it's release, totally wasnt prepared, and I am still an emotional wreck even now over 20 years later when I am prepared for it Final Fantasy 13 trilogy is amazing too if you can go in with an open mind. I might even go as far as to say the ending of 13-3 is just as good as the ending of 10
Jade it was such a pleasure watching your journey through this game I've been following you a little before your FF16 playthrough on your other movie reaction channel and love your appreciation for the stories you come across. This is such a chilling ending and it was the first FF game to make me cry as a kid. I remember being in constant thought after the ending over everything that had transpired over the course of the journey and couldn't believe how beautiful the experience was. Great work Jade! Jecht/Braska's Final Aeon's theme tune is still badass to this day :) 20 odd years later and it still hits hard. I remember in the original PS2 version, this fight didn't play the same version as the beginning blitzball cutscene in Zanarkand like the remaster does. It sounded more like a session or live performance, which to me, sounded more raw and highlighted the raw emotion of what's happening in the story by the time Tidus reunites with his father Jecht and has ro fight him. Such pressure
You're one of the only people who caught the purpose of her whistling on the dock after. A lot of youtubers miss it. That part almost hits me harder than the prior scene.
I've played this game when i was a kid, but I stopped where this video begin. I'm glad I took the time to finish it (last month) and what a journey i'm still thinking about it. im happy to know that the game is still getting new players
If you ever play x-2 I'm here for it. Watched your whole playlist while I did a plat trophy playthrough this week. I played the first ff7 remake but I can't play rebirth for another couple weeks so looking forward to your rebirth videos too. I've played Final Fantasy 7-15 (not including 11) one of my favorite franchises. But I haven't played 1-6 and I heard 6 is really good. Hoping for a 6 and 8 remake before I die lol. Have a great day.
This was my very first Final Fantasy game. I bought it in 2004(in fact this was the first ever ps2 game I bought as a little kid, 10) and have probably beaten it easily a dozen times and still remains to this day my favorite FF title.
Also, fun fact: you *CAN* game over during the final fights despite permanent auto-life. You would have to somehow turn your whole party to stone, like using stone breath on yourself.
This game has one of the most bittersweet endings you will ever see in a video game it's one of many reasons why this is my favorite Final Fantasy game and one of my favorite games of all time.
Summonor Jade you did it congratulations. Your Yojimbo what a warrior he beat Braskas final Aeon and he didn't even use his most powerful ability. The ending gives me tears every damn time and its been years for me 😭. I can't wait to see what you play in the future, just remember the story in Spira isnt over yet please return for Final Fantasy 10-2 soon. Now im going to dry my tears and play some Blitzball 😁

I measure every game against this one and it wasn't even my first FF like for so many others. That airship theme is my go to get pumped music. The idea of a FF having a direct sequel at the time was mindblowing. Just to get to see what a FF world looked like after you saved it, especially one with the depth of Spira was reason enough to be excited.
You are not alone. It broke all of us. Here I sit a 46 year old who played it in 2001 and it still breaks me today. Some of my most loved Final Fantasy characters of all time
Why oh why did you make me cry again?😭 Wished you had spent more time in this game getting all the aeons, ultimate weapons and numerous side quests done but I’m glad you got to experience what many of us feel is our favorite final fantasy for the characters, story and gameplay.
So glad you enjoyed FFX, it holds a very special place in my heart as my first FF. Hope you eventually get to playing more of them when you have the time. It really is a special series.
Congrats on finishing the game :D This ending never fails to hit me in the feels. Amazing storytelling. Yuna is such a strong character. Proof you can do a strong female character without making her a Mary Sue or a b****. Did you notice the music during the Jecht fight is the same as the music during the attack on Zanarkand at the start of the game?
In the Japanese version Yuna says Thank You, instead of I love you.. Tidus was the only one who saw through the lies of Yevon, and how it didn't make sense. He saved Yuna from being killed, and took down Yevon, and brought the Eternal Calm. But they love each other, so I guess either line makes sense. Also if you get a perfect game in X-2 there's a surprise ending.
i'm glad you got to play my 3rd fav Final Fantasy game. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend final fantasy 6. IMO best story, characters, and villain in any Final Fantasy game.
I found your playthrough about a week ago, and I've been watching it since. It was great! A lot of people have said to play X-2. I'm not personally a fan, but I know a lot of people like it. Just know that Final Fantasy games never had sequels before, and that this one only did because the new management wanted to milk more money out of the engine and assets that they had created. That's not just me saying that either, the new CEO at the time actually used the word "exploit" when taking about making sequels. For me, this is where the story of Tidus and Yuna ends. It's where the original creators and writers meant for it to end. I'd love to see more FF content from you in the future! I know that you've gotten a ton of suggestions, but I think that you'd really like FFIX. It's fun, quirky, and has a love story that reminds me of this.

Just a little Trivia. In the original Japanese ver. Yuna says, "Thank You" instead of "I love you", at the end. Apparently translators knew that would hit harder, so they made a good decision in changing it. lol
Oh for the white magic sphere, I know obviously this is late, but you can cycle through the options of which white magic you want the character to learn xD so like Yuna could get Hestaga, just push the left or right and it'll fling you over the grid to all the different skills
Great playthrough ! If you want to know what happen next there is direct sequel to this game - Final Fantasy X-2, where main character is Yuna, and few other characters are returning too. But if you will want to see true ending of FF X-2, it will be very hardcore to get there)
The fight with the aeons could've gone on a LOT longer than what you did. From what I understand, Yu Yevon possesses the aeons that you have at the stats you raised them and the ones you have, including the optional ones. So, if you had them all decked to the nines - Something I saw one friend of mine do - The fight almost destroyed him. In fact, every other boss was easier. In fact, Penance was almost slightly easier than the fight. I say "almost" because THAT superboss was just notoriously ridiculous.
And it can result in almost being "soft-locked" out of finishing the game if you can't do enough damage to counteract the healing from the pagodas. You'd basically have to keep grinding until your stats are able to pierce the defense.
Well this is exactly why you've got permanent auto-life. However, if your Aeons are that strong, then you probably are too since the Aeons stats scale to Yuna's stats. A single Holy from her with Nirvana is enough to dispatch any of them. Further, the pagodas still only heal 1500 x2, so if you can't keep up with that when you're that strong, then you've got bigger problems.
@@callmeshaggy5166 The funny thing is the friend I mentioned was effectively soft-locked in the fight, since he couldn't do enough damage nor could he die. He didn't bother with the ultimate weapons and only focused on powering up his summons, only doing just enough to pass the boss fights. That fight forced him to come back and grind his characters. Though, since he was playing the steam version, he gave himself *ALL* the spheres and just borked his characters. It was kinda sad, but hilarious. XD
@@callmeshaggy5166 The "artificially inflating aeon stats with the Aeon's Soul item" is what can cause the problems. Fortunately, considering that some of the superbosses have max def. and magic def. and you can STILL hit them for max damage with your stats high enough means the 3000hp boost from the Pagodas can be annoying, but ultimately they become a non-issue with high enough stats. I'm glad SquareSoft (before Square Enix) thought of that!
FFXVI was the best FF single player game since FFX. Oddly enough they both had similar tragic endings left up to interpretation. I cried my eyes out back over Christmas break 2001 playing through this game. Full blown ugly cry in my room. My mom had to come in to check on to see what happened...lol

The V8 juice box sent me 🤣. I know it dosen't matter now, but those yellow spheres(skill, wht magic, attribute, ect) let you pick from any sphere that a party member has activated in its category. For example, the wht magic sphere would let you teach anyone Holy, because Yuna knows it, or Hastega, because Tidus knows it, without having to walk them up to the spell on the grid. Just have to press Left or Right before selecting which sphere to activate. Any sphere that can be activated will be outlined in that persons color.
Jade with a 2nd final fantasy finished. You have realized that these endings are brutal 😅😂 loved your playthroughs hope you hit more FFs in the future. FF9 hopefully? That was my first and favorite ❤

For me the end boss was a little anticlimactic because I had leveled Titus and Yuna to the max so pretty much everything I did was 99 999 damage. Even a wand hit from Yuna was 99 999 attack power. But that ending affected more than I thought. It was a sad moment in my gamer life.
Let's here it for Yojimbo, the absolute MVP, VIP, Chad summon of this run. Dodges over a half dozen attacks and comes in clutch for the win, after emptying our wallet!
If u happen to play FF15 Jade get royal edition because I believe it has extended campaign plus dlc. Also check out Brotherhood and Kingsglaive since it prequel before the game.

Final Fantasy 8 you could maybe also try out. The HD Remaster, it aged much better than the original FF7 graphics wise. though it has no voiced dub though.

The way the whistles have a perfect rhythm and more power to tip off that she's been practicing for weeks. The way Lulu has to just come get her to bring her back to real life when everyone else has moved on. It's those priceless details, man.

I played this game for the first time in '02. Couldn't wait to get it after FFVIII. Went to the closest JB Hi-Fi and bought it immedieatly when I was 19. Playing the HD remake now and the ending still makes my eyes sweat.
There is just something extremely beautiful about this game that deserves the wow you gave it. I played it in 2002 on it's release, totally wasnt prepared, and I am still an emotional wreck even now over 20 years later when I am prepared for it
Final Fantasy 13 trilogy is amazing too if you can go in with an open mind. I might even go as far as to say the ending of 13-3 is just as good as the ending of 10
Jade it was such a pleasure watching your journey through this game I've been following you a little before your FF16 playthrough on your other movie reaction channel and love your appreciation for the stories you come across. This is such a chilling ending and it was the first FF game to make me cry as a kid. I remember being in constant thought after the ending over everything that had transpired over the course of the journey and couldn't believe how beautiful the experience was. Great work Jade! Jecht/Braska's Final Aeon's theme tune is still badass to this day :) 20 odd years later and it still hits hard. I remember in the original PS2 version, this fight didn't play the same version as the beginning blitzball cutscene in Zanarkand like the remaster does. It sounded more like a session or live performance, which to me, sounded more raw and highlighted the raw emotion of what's happening in the story by the time Tidus reunites with his father Jecht and has ro fight him. Such pressure

If you ever play x-2 I'm here for it. Watched your whole playlist while I did a plat trophy playthrough this week. I played the first ff7 remake but I can't play rebirth for another couple weeks so looking forward to your rebirth videos too. I've played Final Fantasy 7-15 (not including 11) one of my favorite franchises. But I haven't played 1-6 and I heard 6 is really good. Hoping for a 6 and 8 remake before I die lol. Have a great day.
This was my very first Final Fantasy game. I bought it in 2004(in fact this was the first ever ps2 game I bought as a little kid, 10) and have probably beaten it easily a dozen times and still remains to this day my favorite FF title.
Jecht spoke the truth. "You'll cry. you're gonna cry. You'll always cry. See you're crying." Most people don't realize he's talking to the player.
Also, fun fact: you *CAN* game over during the final fights despite permanent auto-life. You would have to somehow turn your whole party to stone, like using stone breath on yourself.

This game has one of the most bittersweet endings you will ever see in a video game it's one of many reasons why this is my favorite Final Fantasy game and one of my favorite games of all time.
I remember playing this way back in the early 2000's. I don't think a video game had ever made me cry before FFX.
Summonor Jade you did it congratulations. Your Yojimbo what a warrior he beat Braskas final Aeon and he didn't even use his most powerful ability. The ending gives me tears every damn time and its been years for me 😭. I can't wait to see what you play in the future, just remember the story in Spira isnt over yet please return for Final Fantasy 10-2 soon. Now im going to dry my tears and play some Blitzball 😁

I measure every game against this one and it wasn't even my first FF like for so many others.
That airship theme is my go to get pumped music.
The idea of a FF having a direct sequel at the time was mindblowing. Just to get to see what a FF world looked like after you saved it, especially one with the depth of Spira was reason enough to be excited.

Wished you had spent more time in this game getting all the aeons, ultimate weapons and numerous side quests done but I’m glad you got to experience what many of us feel is our favorite final fantasy for the characters, story and gameplay.
So glad you enjoyed FFX, it holds a very special place in my heart as my first FF. Hope you eventually get to playing more of them when you have the time. It really is a special series.

This ending never fails to hit me in the feels. Amazing storytelling. Yuna is such a strong character. Proof you can do a strong female character without making her a Mary Sue or a b****.
Did you notice the music during the Jecht fight is the same as the music during the attack on Zanarkand at the start of the game?
In the Japanese version Yuna says Thank You, instead of I love you.. Tidus was the only one who saw through the lies of Yevon, and how it didn't make sense. He saved Yuna from being killed, and took down Yevon, and brought the Eternal Calm. But they love each other, so I guess either line makes sense. Also if you get a perfect game in X-2 there's a surprise ending.
i'm glad you got to play my 3rd fav Final Fantasy game. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend final fantasy 6. IMO best story, characters, and villain in any Final Fantasy game.
"To Zanarkand" is my favorite piece of video game music. Nobuo Uematsu is a genius composer.
I found your playthrough about a week ago, and I've been watching it since. It was great!
A lot of people have said to play X-2. I'm not personally a fan, but I know a lot of people like it. Just know that Final Fantasy games never had sequels before, and that this one only did because the new management wanted to milk more money out of the engine and assets that they had created. That's not just me saying that either, the new CEO at the time actually used the word "exploit" when taking about making sequels. For me, this is where the story of Tidus and Yuna ends. It's where the original creators and writers meant for it to end.
I'd love to see more FF content from you in the future! I know that you've gotten a ton of suggestions, but I think that you'd really like FFIX. It's fun, quirky, and has a love story that reminds me of this.
Going to have to play X-2 now to see what happens next :D

Just a little Trivia. In the original Japanese ver. Yuna says, "Thank You" instead of "I love you", at the end. Apparently translators knew that would hit harder, so they made a good decision in changing it. lol
Oh for the white magic sphere, I know obviously this is late, but you can cycle through the options of which white magic you want the character to learn xD so like Yuna could get Hestaga, just push the left or right and it'll fling you over the grid to all the different skills
Great playthrough ! If you want to know what happen next there is direct sequel to this game - Final Fantasy X-2, where main character is Yuna, and few other characters are returning too. But if you will want to see true ending of FF X-2, it will be very hardcore to get there)

The fight with the aeons could've gone on a LOT longer than what you did. From what I understand, Yu Yevon possesses the aeons that you have at the stats you raised them and the ones you have, including the optional ones. So, if you had them all decked to the nines - Something I saw one friend of mine do - The fight almost destroyed him. In fact, every other boss was easier. In fact, Penance was almost slightly easier than the fight. I say "almost" because THAT superboss was just notoriously ridiculous.
And it can result in almost being "soft-locked" out of finishing the game if you can't do enough damage to counteract the healing from the pagodas. You'd basically have to keep grinding until your stats are able to pierce the defense.
Well this is exactly why you've got permanent auto-life. However, if your Aeons are that strong, then you probably are too since the Aeons stats scale to Yuna's stats. A single Holy from her with Nirvana is enough to dispatch any of them. Further, the pagodas still only heal 1500 x2, so if you can't keep up with that when you're that strong, then you've got bigger problems.
@@callmeshaggy5166 The funny thing is the friend I mentioned was effectively soft-locked in the fight, since he couldn't do enough damage nor could he die. He didn't bother with the ultimate weapons and only focused on powering up his summons, only doing just enough to pass the boss fights. That fight forced him to come back and grind his characters. Though, since he was playing the steam version, he gave himself *ALL* the spheres and just borked his characters.
It was kinda sad, but hilarious. XD
@@callmeshaggy5166 The "artificially inflating aeon stats with the Aeon's Soul item" is what can cause the problems. Fortunately, considering that some of the superbosses have max def. and magic def. and you can STILL hit them for max damage with your stats high enough means the 3000hp boost from the Pagodas can be annoying, but ultimately they become a non-issue with high enough stats. I'm glad SquareSoft (before Square Enix) thought of that!

FFXVI was the best FF single player game since FFX. Oddly enough they both had similar tragic endings left up to interpretation. I cried my eyes out back over Christmas break 2001 playing through this game. Full blown ugly cry in my room. My mom had to come in to check on to see what happened...lol

What an ending, it still gets me on every play through. You have to play 10 part 2
The V8 juice box sent me 🤣. I know it dosen't matter now, but those yellow spheres(skill, wht magic, attribute, ect) let you pick from any sphere that a party member has activated in its category. For example, the wht magic sphere would let you teach anyone Holy, because Yuna knows it, or Hastega, because Tidus knows it, without having to walk them up to the spell on the grid. Just have to press Left or Right before selecting which sphere to activate. Any sphere that can be activated will be outlined in that persons color.

For me the end boss was a little anticlimactic because I had leveled Titus and Yuna to the max so pretty much everything I did was 99 999 damage. Even a wand hit from Yuna was 99 999 attack power. But that ending affected more than I thought. It was a sad moment in my gamer life.

Final Fantasy 8 you could maybe also try out. The HD Remaster, it aged much better than the original FF7 graphics wise. though it has no voiced dub though.
