  • This is a basic overview and user guide to the Nikon D5300. The D5300 is similar to the D3300, but provides some additional features and capability. Throughout the video I step through many of its features and functions. Lastly, the tutorial covers the inadequacies of the built in WiFi capabilities.
    The tutorial is long, but covers most of the capability and settings.

    Thank you so much for this! I am an old artist/photographer who used a canon 35mm camera and had to wait for the photos to get back from the developers, a week, usually. I bought this camera and I was delighted but also so confused and didn't know where to find all the info that I needed. Thank you for the best instructions that I could ever imagine

    Other than this preference for the D3300 because of its smaller size/portability, this is a thorough and excellent tutorial. What he fails to state that are major reasons for choosing the D5300? 1--Being able to automatically bracket your exposures. And 2--The greater image quality for still images. As an art photographer who cannot afford cameras over $1,000, these two features are crucially important. Video quality means practically nothing to me, but so many reviewers emphasize this factor.

    • @briantobey
      @briantobey  9 лет назад +1

      The sensor of the D3300 and D5300 are the same and utilize the same optical low pass filters, so I am not sure why the image quality would be any different. I agree with you, bracketing is a nice feature in the D5300.

Oh I know I’m due an upgrade really - but still loving the 5300. Seems the app for connectivity isn’t so great with the iPad Pro - maybe they’ve halted support for the app!! ?? I would like to thank you for this informative video. I bought the camera only this week to replace my 7 years old Olympus E - 520, and I love it already.
    However, I wonder about the continuous, abbrasive, highly distractive and head ache inducing music that we have to listen to during the entire video. You have a beautiful, clear and pleasant voice. Can't you give us the choice to turn the music off and still listen to you? I don't understand the functionality of playing this music while someone is explaining something at all.

    Bit depth: 12 bits means one pixel can have 4,096 levels, 14 bits can have 16,384. It sounds like a lot more levels and it can bring out many stops of detail BUT your continuous shoot rate will drop significantly with the 25% larger raw file sizes.
