- This is a basic overview and user guide to the Nikon D5300. The D5300 is similar to the D3300, but provides some additional features and capability. Throughout the video I step through many of its features and functions. Lastly, the tutorial covers the inadequacies of the built in WiFi capabilities.
The tutorial is long, but covers most of the capability and settings.
the only video on youtube on d5300 which is actually worth watching, i hav downloaded this video and watch it everytime whenever i have any doubts on d5300..................
how many times do you doubt a camera
LOL
Nice. Glad to hear it
Hows the camera ??
Indian Dude I Agree 👍
Thank you so much for this! I am an old artist/photographer who used a canon 35mm camera and had to wait for the photos to get back from the developers, a week, usually. I bought this camera and I was delighted but also so confused and didn't know where to find all the info that I needed. Thank you for the best instructions that I could ever imagine
just bought this camera last week and this review was by far the best. now i know how to use the camera. thank you
+nargis y Great. glad it helped

+Brian Tobey which one is better? d5300 or d5500? and which lense is better? 18-140mm or 18-55mm??
Reply
+Fairy Pandora 18-140
Fairy Pandora The d5500 is better and the 18-140 is better.
By far the best tutorial I have seen on youtube for this camera. Straight to the point, step by step with clarity. Thank you!
thanks. please let me know should you have any questions
I have just been given this camera as a Christmas present so am absolutely thrilled to find such an informative video explaining everything about it. It's also my first DSLR camera so thank you for making it so much easier for me to get my head around it all.
Hey no problem! Glad you enjoyed it and made it easier
Excellent tutorial. Every sales man should point the buyer to this video before they walk out the store. One downside - the background music - super annoying!

Gary Chow Background super annoying !!!!!!!!!
+Gary Chow I actually enjoyed the background music, very light and quiet enough to hear what the guy has to say.
I agree Mr. Chow this guy is superb at what he does!
Best Nikon D5300 Guide in RUclips. I downloaded it and now I watch it every time I have a doubt!
Sorry, but the background music was terrible. Otherwise, the video was very helpful and thorough. Thank you.
Tinkerbells love on all the things you could complain about, its the background music wow
I know this is an old video, but I am SO GRATEFUL I found it. I just bought this camera used with no instruction manual and was bashing my head against the wall trying to figure out the wifi option and how to transfer photos to my phone. thank you SO MUCH for such an instructional video
Wonderful video explaining all this, I will have to watch it over and over to take it all in, I have just purchased this camera this afternoon so I have a lot to learn, thank you very much.
Glad i could help!
Thank you so much for sharing such an informative tutorial. This is the best video on D5300 I have ever seen.
An awesome tutorial, thank you so much Brian! I'm planning to buy this today, and your video has given me a great insight!
I think is the only one who post complete menu ,witch for me is so important
thumb up from me
Ive had my 5300 for Years. No other tutorial has been so user friendly. At long last, i feel more confident.
Other than this preference for the D3300 because of its smaller size/portability, this is a thorough and excellent tutorial. What he fails to state that are major reasons for choosing the D5300? 1--Being able to automatically bracket your exposures. And 2--The greater image quality for still images. As an art photographer who cannot afford cameras over $1,000, these two features are crucially important. Video quality means practically nothing to me, but so many reviewers emphasize this factor.
The sensor of the D3300 and D5300 are the same and utilize the same optical low pass filters, so I am not sure why the image quality would be any different. I agree with you, bracketing is a nice feature in the D5300.
Many thanks, at last someone who takes the time to slowly go through everything and precisely explains things for a novice like me. I will be saving this video for further use. Once again, many thanks!!
Omg! I’ve had this camera for years and I just learned more about it than I ever thought I would thanks to your video!
Thanks for watching!
I got my Nikon D5300 now and your video gives me alot of information!! Thank!!
Brilliant video 👏I’ve just bought a second hand D5300. It didn’t come with a manual, so I downloaded it, BUT! This has been of immense help, sitting with the camera in front of me , going through all the steps.. oh, it’s my 1st dslr too, (and adjusting some of the features)so Big thanks.

Best tutorial of Nikon D5300 on RUclips! Thanks mate! 💯
One of the best and most informative videos on RUclips

You know, that background music is very annoying
Sorry you disliked it
Brian Tobey
It's one of those songs that you can't get out of your head, but Great information on the D5300...thanks
I did buy the D5300 and have about 30,000 clicks, I do a lot of time lapses.
Yes time lapse is a great feature, but racks up the shutter count
I have had this one for 2 months and have over 30K clicks. I'll use the movie mode at 60 fps and speed it up 1,000% to get the same effect and save some clicks
best video about the D5300 menu and buttons features and vs. thus far thanks a bunch!
Just bought the Nikon D5300 + kit lens..... Total newbie..... Excellent video..... But I'm with Mark Hazlitt on the music..... Drove me mad.... lol..... Thumbs up from me..... ATB Ian
Bought this camera back in December. Very happy with it.
I have to say this is a very good presentation and well done. I came upon this video because i plan to buy this camera and therefore i have a question? where do i go to bring this camera to it's original state as it was when new. Or do i just go from your video step by step to my own configurations.
again you have done a really good presentation,
thanks

Wow. This video was published on my birthday!! My b-day is on 5th of September!! 😍
Brilliant, great for understanding my new D5300.
One of the best reviews i´ve seen so far. thank you.
I found this so useful! Had this camera a few years now - great to go through it all with you step by step! Love the camera and thought I knew it - feel like I know it better now! Oh I know I’m due an upgrade really - but still loving the 5300. Seems the app for connectivity isn’t so great with the iPad Pro - maybe they’ve halted support for the app!! ?? Great vid thanks dude!
Amazing review fair play most just cover the spec. This has really made me want to buy this camera and start shooting photos
I have this camera and your tutorial video helped me a lot! Well done and thanks a lot!
thanks for your video ...I just bought D5300 this week .I m learning ....

Ok. Now I'm a proud Nikon D5300 Owner :).
Excellent tutorial for the D5300, but agree the background music is distracting. Very helpful video. I've sent it to a friend who just got a D5300. I use a D7100 so will see if you also cover that model somewhere, thanks....
Thank you Brian,great video,excellent help.i just bought my D5300.
thanks brian I have ordered my d5300 today thanks for grate review
Now I finally know how to use the wifi function, thank you!
Lindsey Wells Great I could help!
Wow thanks a lot !! It is a great video to understand all the d5300 features!!
I would like to thank you for this informative video. I bought the camera only this week to replace my 7 years old Olympus E - 520, and I love it already.
However, I wonder about the continuous, abbrasive, highly distractive and head ache inducing music that we have to listen to during the entire video. You have a beautiful, clear and pleasant voice. Can't you give us the choice to turn the music off and still listen to you? I don't understand the functionality of playing this music while someone is explaining something at all.
That background music is just too loud, no other problem with it. Without that music the vid would be too boring and less pro feel ;)
Excellent video - thanks for showing the best settings to start taking pictures or videos. Great video.
Very good info video...thanks for the help setting-up on the right foot.
This was an EXCELLENT video. Well done and looking forward to more of your videos :)

Fantastic video Brian! I just bought and returned a New Pentax KS2 due to the fact that the video indoors was horrible, Im looking at this camera now for still photos and for shooting video of my guitar playing inside, Im hoping the video quality is decent and better than the Pentax!
Nice one, so much better than going through the manual
just awesome walkthrough of handling Nikon D5300
Many Thanks!!!
Very Nice walkthrough and guide here!! Thanks for taking your time making this ..! :)
don't know if someone may have pointed this out yet, but you said that "basic jpeg" has the least compression. I think it actually has the most compression, while fine has the least, because "fine" is the highest quality jpg.
+halfniak yes you are correct, i meant to say the lowest data size and most compression. Thanks for the feedback!
I got a D5300 with 18-140mm vr and I'm so happy :) ^_^
i got one too , with 18-55mm
50hz is for Europe, 60hz is the one to use for N. America. You need to match line frequency just as fluorescent lights match line frequency or you see an interference pattern.
Good clear instruction video, marred by distracting muzak.
I danced to that at my wedding! Haha
I wish this was the first video I came across, excellent video and exactly what I was looking for. (lose the background music😂)
Thanks for the perfect REVIEW lol. You hit every aspect of the camera.. My D5300 will be here in 2days only $540 brand new with 18mm-55mm VR 2 lens and extra accessories on ebay. Im a newbee but from this video and others I've watched i think i will do well.
Nice you mention Flaat controls. Never heard of them.
Tobey you are an amazing video maker , and commentator , this is the first clear and sharp video related to camera which I have seen ! Which camera and lens you used making this video ???!!! And editing method you did ??? Please tell us ! And what is your address 🥀 🌷🌸 please tell us . Thanks !
Many thanks Brian for the excellent video. it was really helpful

This is amazing video. Thank you I learn more about the camera. I have problem on the wifi thou.
Great video, really helpful. But not sure if you noticed some green flashes around 11:30
Yes it’s such a meaningful n useful video mr Brian Tobey. I has got lots ideas for how to use DSLR 5300 thanks lots from bottom of my heart 💕 ❤️💕
Happy to hear
I will buy it tomorrow
I am watching your video to learn something for nikon d5300
Bit depth: 12 bits means one pixel can have 4,096 levels, 14 bits can have 16,384. It sounds like a lot more levels and it can bring out many stops of detail BUT your continuous shoot rate will drop significantly with the 25% larger raw file sizes.
I don't know english enough, but I have a question. In mi camera NIKON D5300, I can't select the button AF-A and change the focus mode. I'd like know your answer to my question. Thanks.
Probably the best guide on youtube..tnxx!
Thanks for the feedback
Extremely helpful video. Thank you very much for making this!
I just love this video 😍 thanks for the review Nikon F5300
Awesome tutorial. Much appreciated, thank you!
well explained thanks a lot & if it had to be with out that background music would of been much more better.
Just an amaaazing and useful video .. very well done .. thank you so much for all info
