Hi Scotty. I went there on a school camp in 1967. I was so excited. One day, myself and a few mates did the big walk: Breadknife, Exmouth and Bluff Mountain. On the edge of Bluff Mountain I sat enthralled as two wedgetail eagles with an eyrie below me on the cliff, played catch with the carcass of a rabbit. One would fly high into the sky, well above the edge of the bluff, then drop the rabbit whilst the other would swoop down, catch it in mid air then turn up to fly high and drop the rabbit for its mate. This game of catch went on for some time right in front me. I'm 67 now and that moment has never left me. I have been back to the Warrumbungles since and also explored the heritage of the Pilliga. But, that time on the Bluff has stayed strong in my memory for over 50 years. It is one of many very spiritual places.
Wonderful story, Geoff. It’s a magical place.
Wedge-tailed eagles are sensational. Back in 2007 a chopper dropped me off in an isolated part of the northern Kimberley. Within minutes of its departure off in the distance a wedge-tailed started constantly screaming.... wasn't too sure if it was directed at me but it kept it up for some time. A few days later as I was trekking it kept it up again, following my movements.
Later, I crawled out from under a rock overhang after looking at some rock art. Sure enough it was screaming again but by now I tended to ignore it. But my ears picked up a rushing of air so I looked in the sound's direction. The wedgie had now changed its tactics and was actually plummeting towards me from several 100 metres!!! Where I stood j😢😢ust behind me was a rock wall so I felt pretty secure. The eagle continued its dive directly at me, the sound of rushing air from its dive was relatively loud.....and then, just a matter of metres before it would have colluded with me, it suddenly veered upwards, I guess fearing crashing into the wall of rocks just behind me. I stood my ground the entire time, absolutely astounded by this experience. I wondered what would have resulted without the rocks behind me.
I continued seeing the wedgie in the following week I was there but its screaming and any sky bombing had ceased. I just wonder what was going through its mind!!!
Now...lets talk about my interactions with the feral rogue bulls.....!!!!
I've always appreciated the descriptiveness of the phrase, "you can see for days".
I always love your videos. You make it look so easy and yet it’s a lot of work. Thank you. Be safe.
Watched this again... and glad I did.
Thanks for always bringing the breathtaking ozzie landscape into our livingrooms all over the world! Every shot in your videos is like an outdoorsmen magazine cover photo. You have a great eye for camerawork and the music also never disappoints! By far my favourite RUclips Channel out there and always a highlight of the month.
Keep up the phenomenal work Scotty and greetings from Austria!
Yay, time to crack a beer and watch another awesome Scotty video
Exactly. Well put, my friend.
29 years ago my wife and I decided to go for a drive one weekend out of Sydney and ended up at the warrumbungles. 3 days of hiking and camping it was fantastic. Totally forgot about it until this video was recommended. Brings back a lot of good memories 🙏
Whoa. Now this is nice. Preparing to set off an adventure. The photography. The anticipation. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this. Larry, Encinitas, San Diego, Southern California, USA.
You forgot to add “earth”
What county Larry? lol
@@chrispeterson1247 Having lived overseas, I am aware that not everyone knows where Encinitas is. Or San Diego, or Southern California. In various online groups I participate in, we specify our locations so we can all appreciate the global nature of our interaction.
Mate you make me want to slow down and experience life better than how I am doing it. Thank you my friend. Stay safe.
Do what you do it is very creative and engaging . Hard work without struggle is the key and I can tell the hard work you have put into these videos to get a great result.
Mate. The cinematography and production is next level. Awesome view of the Aussie bush. Thanks.
i live just to the West of the Warrambungles, we often go through them, they are spectacular, regrettably i have issues that stop me from really experiencing the area
You really do capture the ancient energy through your videos. I’m always in awe of the sheer vastness & beauty of Australia. So unspoilt & untouched. Long May she remain that way. Cheers Scotty, epic!
Priceless.
Message to everyone - in that sort of remote terrain, when you leave your kit behind to wander, make sure you take a basic survival kit with you & emergency comms.
Quite a different style of episode. Little packing @ home, little driving, then the ripper hike (no cooking section this time). Good one and what a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing 👍
Absolutely gem the bungles, how long till the Pilliga trek,, look forward to it. Yep keep the camera rolling and keep safe.
Good lord, the views are absolutely stunning!
Went camping here with my family as a kid, and so many beautiful memories are rushing back to me. This video is a work of art mate, you should be so proud!
Sweet hike man! Thanks for taking us along! HooRoo!!
That is an amazing place Scotty I travelled through that country on and off for more than 2 decades
as an interstate truck driver carting general freight ,livestock ,grain and furniture I got to see a hell of a lot of all that country but the Warrumbungles are pretty special the Pilliga is interesting as well .
Alot of truckies don't speak too highly of the pilliga
@@ciggie. I never had a problem with the Pilliga except in the early days when it was a rough old dirt rd and the wild pigs and kangaroos bloody things were every where out their and I never saw a yowie either
@@rodgeorge7244 forgive my California naivety but what is a Yowie.
I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful area sand, sun mild weather mountains lakes all within a short distance. people actually save their money all year to come enjoy a brief holiday or just a weekend get away but it really doesn’t even come close to the beauty of your country and the areas mr. Scotty is kind enough to share with us. Hope to save my money and come spend some time enjoying your beautiful backyard. Hopefully I will see a Yowie… or maybe not?
@@reidmcm7334 and you probably won't see one unless you are taking the right drugs or smoking dope they are a figment of peoples imagination a bit like your bigfoot
@@rodgeorge7244 you might want to Google Yowie sightings in the Pilliga... I live in Narrabri and have camped out there on the Eastern side many many times but never again! Pigs a couple of times noseing at my swag, but the last one wasnt a pig I'm sure! Pigs dont scream/roar like that, and make loud sounds as they run off :P I've even had a local tell me that they're mostly and or only active during the colder months of the year.. I still like going out to the Pilliga but day time only now. I'm not a fool and don't take any drugs, but people who live up here have all heard a story or two..
Stunning place … which seems to be the theme for each place you visit! Enjoyed this one and I’m already looking forward to the next!
Watching this again, absolutely gorgeous. Lucky man.
Many years ago we drove through the Warrubungles and it was breath taking
Absolutely flawless content. It's always a joy to see you have a new video to look forward to watching. Thanks for all the work you put in, and sharing your experience with us in exquisite forms. I'm happy you get to reap beautiful moments in time as your rewards.
Beautiful stunning vistas - I think a great resolve and celebration to end the days travel is to de cork a bottle of fine Australian red and reflect & rejoice in the blessings given - shared and lived ! 🙏
The most stars I've seen? Was when I HALO'd from a C-141 at 36,500ft at 03:31:36. Looked like I could just reach out and touch them! And with a full moon, a cloud base at 2700, the earth was a soft gray. It was a magical moment.

Spectacular! really well captured Scotty.
Really lovely landscape! Amazing! Thank you for sharing. :)
You're living your best life, Scotty. No doubt about that.
Another beautiful adventure. Thanks for taking us along!
Love your work Scotty! Every adventure you go on strikes a chord within that makes me want to get out and explore!
Such an amazing place. One day I'll come visit Australia, for now I'll have to be content exploring Wales, Lake District and Scotland in the uk. Also, what an amazing sky, you should think about getting some small 2x binoculars like the omegon 2.1x42 binoculars or Australian equivalent.
Absolutely fantastic bud, always look forward to your posts
Australia is a very beautiful place and your excellent videos display all the beauty and majesty that Warrumbungle has to offer. Well done. Thanks for sharing with us all. March on!
Really loved the style of this video Scotty, great job 👍🏽
Your production quality is amazing, keep it up man!
Bloody epic indeed! Such a spectacular place, you captured it so well. That was the most relaxing video to watch. Thanks Scotty!
Mate that whole edit was breathtaking. What an amazing place thanks for sharing.
Another gem, I was totally unaware of the beauty of the Warrumbungles.
Question Scotty, in all your lone remote camping have you ever had a Yowie visit?
Ooo, I was wondering the same thing!!
Awesome video Scott, keep up the great work.
Thank you for your videos! This is so calming and beautiful 🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely stunning Scotty! I keep using the same superlatives for your videos, like stunning, beautiful, amazing, but I just can't think of anything better to describe the locations you hike to and the videos you produce. Just love your style Mate 🙌🔥 Keep it up.
Amen to that !!! Scotty's become a legend already. Bushyboy Oz.
I've been watching your videos for a few years now mate and really enjoy them, find them quite inspiring.
I've always wanted to do the types of trips you do, but I'm a pastry chef on the Gold Coast. Working nightshift, sleeping days, long weeks, long days. Hard to get the time off or travel far with my one day off. Living to work instead of working to live, it's taken a huge toll on my physical and mental health over the years. But I decided 3 months ago to get outta the rat race, regain some quality of life and move to rural NSW to Coonabarabran. One of the reasons was so I could be close to the warrumbungles and start doing the hiking and camping you do. Moving there end of July. But the fact that you went there just before me I find pretty amazing as I thought to myself when I went there to scout the place out "i wonder if Scotty has camped here yet."
Anyway mate, love your work and stay safe out there. Looking forward to a video on the Pilliga. Heard some crazy ass stories bout yowies out there.
Good luck with the move.
Wow that footage was amazing, Absolutely beautiful. Thanks for sharing ⛺️
What a beautiful journey that was Scotty. Totally loved the vid. Thank you so much. Regards, Mario.
Love all your explorations Scotty, we have so much to see in NSW 👍👍
Wow awesome scenery, a part of Australia I wasn't aware of....thanks for introducing it to me...appreciate your work!
Scotty.... This video has just gone and taken things up a whole bunch of notches. Providing the insight in to the packing at the start; and the bit of driving etc really just rounds out what is already fantastic content. Wishing you further success mate! Thanks for the good vibes.
Wow that place looks amazing , it has been on my bucket list for a while now is about time i head out there ..Great Video .
The Pilliga Forest is quite overgrown at the moment after all the rain and very easy to get lost in the scrub when you can't see more than 10mtrs and constantly having to walk around trees and thick scrub it's very easy to end up walking in circles, and a few locals have ended up lost out there.. I hope you find a few old logging camps/Old gold mining site or just stick to the Sandstone Caves or the Salt Caves/fire watch tower etc.. Big Sky Country.. Easy hiking in the Pilliga because it's so flat and the soft sandy soil in most of it anyway a few higher spots down near Coona and the upper North East corner of the Pilliga East Forest you can get a view. It's a very unique forest type and also one of the largest forests in Australia.. Watch out for the Hairy Man/Yowies
Hey Scotty! Never comment on RUclips but my girlfriend and I have been watching your videos for a long time since way back when you did your Uluru road trip. We love the content mate, keep it up and stay safe!
Always enjoy your videos Scotty, they lift my spirit !
Your perspective(s) and expressions on life always lift my spirit too.
Thank you.

Thats Beautiful Country it looks Primeval, like your the First Man coming Down Out of Tree's and Exploring your World First Time!! Toronto ( Soul)
You're lucky, Ive been 3 times, and this year is the first time I saw any water in the creeks - rocky pebble beds in past years. It totally changes the vibe of the park! Beautiful place.
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your experience with us
Very beautiful country my friend! Can't wait to see how the rest of your vacation goes. Cheers 🤠

Love your videos Scotty.

Great video Scotty! Warrumbungle is a bloody special place.
Absolutely Stooked! I stumbled across your channel.
Wow! Loved this video Scotty as it is in our part of the world. Looking forward to your visit to the Pilliga. Hope you get to MT Kaputar one day too as would love to see your photography from there. Fab stuff out west eh!
That might be the most beautiful landscape I've seen you explore.

Hey Scotty - the Warrumbungles rock, my Mrs and I were there last Sept and we totally enjoyed it. Also somewhere in the family photo album there are piccys of me as a toddler in a creek out there (minus clothing). Love the channel 👍

Love these videos keep it up mate 🤙🏼
Unreal Scotty again! Never disappoint
Great adventure amazing scenery and music
Another beautiful video man thanx
Bloody fantastic.
WOW! Stunning location! 😍
Stunning shots
I've hiked in every state/territory of Australia, and completely agree with you - the Warrumbungles are truly extrodinary! I camped at Dow Camp and walked Bluff Mountain in the dark for sunrise last year and it was magnificent. Breadknife, to Dows Camp to Bluff mountain and back - I don't know of a more better overnighter any where in the country!
Man I love your car. You a a great human being
Luck are the ones around you. Great personality and a friend to keep. You make us believe that we are with you in your journey. I learn with each video. Thank you 🙏 peter
Another Wonderful video. Thank you
Beautiful place and really nice videography. Thanks for taking the time to share your walk. The Pilliga is a place some people report sightings of our big hairy man. Interested to hear back from your next adventure walk and if you too happen to chance across the Australian Yowie.
Amazing hike for sure!
Fantastic that view went on for days
Hooroo mate. Another great video. Keep them coming
Thank you for the video
