LaCroix got fucked, and it’s unfortunate because a great master at what he did.
Please don't try to pronounce Christians name with the French R. It sounds like a fork scratching a plate. It is not necessary.

There are some designers that are quite good but terrible in finances. A brand has to have revenue, not just for design purposes.
I would like to his fashion illustrations. I am studying Fashion Illustration and came across one of his drawings. It was divine.
Right now... Christian Lacroix stuffs were sold in Ebay or Walmart.. I believed his still an Icon in designs to reckon 😱🥰😘😝😊
If you speak about the fashion industry, it would be good to know that Haute Couture is pronounced with a silent "H" !! Also his wife is named FrancoiSE not Francois (a man's name.) 😊

interesting, had no idea he was no longer a designer or that he didn't really turn a profit, his clothes were too specific IMO, many modern career-oriented women didn't really fit into his clientele, his clothes were too costumey, too fantasy-filled, I liked only a handful of his designs, as the majority of his pieces were always odd and over-adorned, mismatched, childish, and cartoonish. I do remember all the rage when he burst on the scene in the late 80s. I will credit him with bringing an element of fun and frivolity that had been missing in fashion, which other designers seized on but did it in a more wearable and appealing way (Ungaro, St. Laurent, etc.). If only he could've edited/paired down his pieces as they were usually always over-the-top. But not to take away from him Lacroix as a person, he seems like a very charming man, but I was never really big on him. He couldn't really move forward as the times were changing and his look was less in favor (sort of the way with Claude Montana, a true visionary and great designer who had his peak of success during the late 80s to late 90s that I was really big on who had to close his doors as he couldn't reinvent himself either to stay afloat as fashion marched forward into the year 2000).
I kinda agree. All of his collections were VERY over the top but not even in an Alexander McQueen or Galliano kind of way, they were kinda garish. Lots of mixing patterns. Uber weird color schemes. It seemed a little like Francisco de Goya's early 19th century portraits on acid. I.e opera costumes.
Seems to me he's cursed. Not everyone is destined to be successful in life
I don't think he's cursed, I just think he needed education in finances, and needed help in management instead of trying to do so much using his own money. Most artists are not gifted in money management.
