We actually see a relationship develop with her and Nicholas, while with her and Michael it... well it develops, but it does it less and not as meaningfully. As much as I love Michael and was glad to see him end up with Mia I'm the books, Chris Pine(Nicholas) and Anne Hathaway have amazing chemistry and I would LOVE to see them together in the third installment of the series.
First of all, love triangles are never interesting or fun and used way too much. Second, Michael was awful. The character might have been fine but the actor was always staring off like a spaced out drug addict. Terrible actor with the personality of a wet noodle.

Genovia PM is a woman. Lily is married with the royal guard and a mother and a producer in Genovia news channel. Anyway, these are all what happen in my head. 😁
Fun fact from the Honorable Mentions: when Mia slipped and fell, that wasn't a planned stunt, it was actually wet, the laughter was real and she was able to get Heather (Lily) to keep going. This is from my fuzzy memory of watching the movie with 2 different commentary tracks, I can't remember if Hector (Joe) running over was his natural reaction or something they added after.
I think it was added after (I watched with the commentary as well long ago lol). Usually in filming they don't tend to shoot multiple shots of the same take all at the same time. They do one take, cut, then do another for a different character and their reaction from a different angle. The editing crew is what makes it look seamless to us when we see the finished product. Her fall being an accident would leave no way for that shot to be organic and natural since they almost definitely shot that bit separately, and not in that same instant. I believe in this instance the director felt after seeing Anne fall and carry on, that it felt like a very 'Mia' thing to do, and so they added the shot of Joe running to her, but then him stopping and seeing that she's not your typical princess who would freak out an cry over such an incident. She can fall down and look like a fool, but she laughs about it and goes on as though nothing happened. He doesn't have to treat her in the same manner as other royals in the past and present. It was an added shot that actually made for a bit more depth to the story and her character. It was by all accounts a 'happy accident' lol

I always hated how her curly hair was seen as a "flaw" and how she was portrayed "more beautiful" with straight hair. Would love to see her rock her curls.

Wasn't Joe already apart of the royal family in a way. He was the head of the royal guard. If, anything it would be him trying to balance him being head of the royal guard and being the Queen Clarissa husband.

It was already established in the beginning of Princess Diaries 2 that Michael and Mia parted “as good friends, and was busy touring the world with his band. Robert Schwartzman was asked to come back to film the sequel, but the scheduled conflicted with Rooney’s tour.
Some people might not like it but I’d like nick being her king... 😅 and c’mon, Julie Andrews and Joe have to be in it! I also think her teenage brother would be an interesting add in. Also, lily has to be there too with that royal guard guy!
I might be the only one, but I loved the films much more than the books. It's the only series I can say that for. Meg Cabot created the main characters, but the films changed them for the better, especially with Julie Andrews. I was so sad to hear when the director, Garry Marshall died. I adore their film commentary.
I really hope that Mia's long lost sister shows up. Olivia Grace's backstory was really cool. But considering Mia is probably going to be married to Nicholas, this may not happen

My guess of the plot is that her daughter wants to experience life outside of the palace so she gets a make over into a normal American student and goes to america for an exchange year
So excited when I heard Anne's announcement! I remember growing up and watching the movies. But I can't help but wonder who they're going to ask to direct the 3rd movie now that Garry Marshall's gone. :( I hope they do something towards the end to honor him though and that they don't try too hard to recreate certain things that they miss out on the charm, humor, and authenticity of the first 2 movies that made the movies so meaningful and memorable to begin with. But I have faith in Anne and Julie's commitment to the series and I'm looking forward to what they have planned for the 3rd installment! :D

YES. FINALLY someone talking sense! No awkward love triangle, no digging up old flames, just Mia and Michael being friends. There aren't enough good platonic relationships between males and females in films these days, so I would LOVE to see this. THAT would be a good way to bring him back.

The first movie is an all time favorite. I owned it on vhs and broke the tape. 🤣 having said that, I would honestly love to see Lily back, Julie Andrews is a must, Joe too, I’d love to see who replaces Charlotte and if Mia is married at all. Chris Pine is a top choice but she doesn’t actually need a guy. Omg tell me she adopted the baby girl from the orphanage and wants to make her the heir. Also yes pls more Louis!
Wasn't Joe already apart of the royal family in a way. He was the head of the royal guard. If, anything it would be him trying to balance him being head of the royal guard and being the Queen Clarissa husband.
He was planning to retire before Clarisse proposed to him, Mia told him at her almost-wedding, "Hey Joe? Before I do this, I'm sorry you're retiring." And after Clarisse proposed and he accepted, he told Shades that he was in charge now.
I want to see Michael from the first movie make an appearance. He is Lilly's brother after all. Maybe a rekindled romance between him and Mia?

Lol I remember rewatching these movies many times last autumn and searching for information about a possible third movie. And all I found was that they had talked about it, they had a script but the director died and it wasn't confirmed. I'm so happy to hear that it's happening.

Shona Gallini The author said she got inspiration to write the princes diary wedding because of the royal weddings that went on she was planning it.

in the books Lana actually became friends with Mia. It's been a wonderful to read that.
But the second movie butchered the universe, so the third movie cannot be anything else than a tacky piece far removed from the world built in the books.
Gary Marshall chose to direct the film because he thought the title was "Princess Dairies". I'm not sure why you expected it to reflect the books at all.

It was already established in the beginning of Princess Diaries 2 that Michael and Mia parted “as good friends, and was busy touring the world with his band.
Robert Schwartzman was asked to come back to film the sequel, but the scheduled conflicted with Rooney’s tour.
She narrated at the beginning of the second movie that she had never been in love, so I think that implies that Michael was only puppy love.
I can't wait for this to come out. I kinda wish that she and Michael ended up together, like in the books.

I might be the only one, but I loved the films much more than the books. It's the only series I can say that for. Meg Cabot created the main characters, but the films changed them for the better, especially with Julie Andrews. I was so sad to hear when the director, Garry Marshall died. I adore their film commentary.

So excited when I heard Anne's announcement! I remember growing up and watching the movies. But I can't help but wonder who they're going to ask to direct the 3rd movie now that Garry Marshall's gone. :( I hope they do something towards the end to honor him though and that they don't try too hard to recreate certain things that they miss out on the charm, humor, and authenticity of the first 2 movies that made the movies so meaningful and memorable to begin with. But I have faith in Anne and Julie's commitment to the series and I'm looking forward to what they have planned for the 3rd installment! :D
