Joe may not be royalty, but that doesn’t stop him from being an absolute king!
Hes like the best sub grandfather a girl could ask for. Plus hes funny as hell. Also funny my late mother and i both agree our uncle resembles him.
I think this may be the only guy to actually just be a gentleman. Not using to flirt, seem condescending or passive aggressive, get laid, or get righteously angry. He's also not overly polite or disrespectful to anyone without due. And the few times we see otherwise, you can see genuine care behind everything.
And he respected the woman of his dreams enough to not make a move until it was appropriate to do so (i.e when she was no longer going to be Queen and and had the mental ability to think of smth else besides her countries future) and then respected her no with grace.
No royal blood, but lots of style and even more class.
i love how protective he is over mia, like a grandfather she didn't have 😭😭😭

technically since he married the queen he’s her grandpa by marriage :)

"I have diplomatic immunity in 47 counties including Puerto Rico" I loved that line I've used that line in school
it's SUCH a good line
@@KanejBrekkdown it was said with such intensity and passion
I love that he equated Puerto Rico as it’s on country.
He is my favorite
honestly that line reminded me of where I saw him before. As for the immunity, I'm pretty sure it was revoked when he confessed to murder on Columbo

joe being protective over mia is my favorite thing about this movie
their relationship is so cute
Yeah like any grandfather would do for his granddaughter
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent” I began crying when I watched that scene in the movie 😭🙏🏼
That means you and you alone are responsible for how you react to the world and how you feel.
In my mind there is always a silent 'and mine' at the end of that line.
My father had a similar saying when I was growing up, “don’t let your little heart be troubled, the only person who can let hurt you, is you.”
Originally said by former first lady Eleanor Roosevelt
"the maids know everything" is so funny
the maids had me dying though
"Nicholas, am I going to be disappointed in you?" is such a power move hahahahaha
Didn't have to raise his voice, didn't have to scold him or make threats... all he needed was The Dad Tone. Works like a charm.
@@amiefortman7220 I cannot imagine a situation where The Dad Tone isn't 100% effective.
“that’s what the character said” THAT LINE IS SO FUNNY

HIS LOOK TOO THO
Such a great scene by the two of them
5:30 " I offered to have him hung by his toes in the courtyard" I love that line
I thought it was "by his toes and then quartered" as in the punishment of hanged, drawn and quartered
Y'all here me out- *HE WAS ABLE TO PULL A QUEEN!! A LITERAL QUEEN BRUH 😫 HIS SPOKEN AND UNSPOKEN RIZZ WAS JUST TOP TIER*
tbf, man had GAME. u saw the dance scene? “you’ve been wearing black for too long” she might’ve been queen but he was a KING. she stood NO CHANCE.
The way he snuck into her waltz when Queen Clarice was dancing by herself in the second one🤌🏾
He was smooth and gentle af with Clarisse. Kind and thoughtful!! Ofc he pulled a QUEEN like Clarisse
She became ‘his girl’ the moment she asked him if she could call him Joey, and I won’t be convinced otherwise
I always thought it was the moment he said, "She's going to run." Like he realized in that moment he cares for her and understands her not as a body guard, but as family.
"I've never put on pantyhose, but, it SOUNDS dangerous."
I

i was watching the movie he said that line like 15 min ago. i laughed so hard it always cracks me up.
It is dangerous, it really is. I put them on once... May be twice in my life... NEVER AGAIN!

My sister’s friend is nicknamed that
"...fear is not in my vocabulary!"
"But it is in your eyes"
Is an unreasonably hard line for this movie.
i forgot how SMOOTH this man is
right????😳
4:02-4:11 I love how Joe is so committed to his role when he’s pretending to drive. He even puts the gear shift in park before getting up from the chair😂
That's not acting, that's just driving habit.
"If it were a herse, it'd be quiet in the backseat"
I love that line, Imma use it from now on
And the little smile
“You know you look like shaft.”
“Yes. Excuse me”
I LOVE HIS PASSIVE AGGRESSION SM
The scene of Joe and Clarisse dancing after Mia has left is my favourite out of both the movies "you've been wearing black too long." It is so simple yet so elegant, classy and beautiful. While their wedding is my favourite from "Royal Engagement."
I love the application of the "parking brake" when they are practicing the wave. Classic.
the miming was 10/10 in that whole scene lmao
Unpopular opinion: Neither of these movies would have been half as good without Joe. Yeah. I said it.
And I don't think anybody's disagreeing with you.
That’s not an unpopular opinion.
he has the best one liners
he really does have some of the best lines
Him, and the background characters!
"I offered to have him hung by his toes in the courtyard. Excuse me" is one of my favorite lines, I laugh everytime I watch the movie!!
I love those lines lol
Ok so why is no one talking about the “Perhaps, but it’s your eyes” line at 3:00?!?!? He’s calm but menacing & I LOVE IT!!!!
truly the manliest man, but also buys shoes and treats women right
1) Joe as a human being: MUST PROTECT AT ALL COSTS
2) Joe & Clarice: THE CHEMISTRYYYYYYYYYY
"If you hurt my girl. You'll answer to me,"
Such a badass. I love it!
THE THREAT IS SUCH A GOOD SCENE
IT REALLY IS
OH MY GOD FINALLY I'M SO HAPPY SOMEONE MADE A JOE COMPILATION
i was shocked there wasn't one done already tbh
They need to do this with Pretty Woman. He was my favorite character.
My favourite bit is the priest going “finally”. Even he was waiting for those two.
I was shoving the pillow to my face and my shipper heart going feral all over 🤣
"I'm not a spy"
"That's what the character would say"
*Immediate stare down*
"The flags allow me to park anywhere. We keep the flags."
Legend can even double park if he wanted
Him and Clarisse invented romance
I love how when Clarice gets with Joe everyones like "Finally, about time" as if the whole country has been shipping them.
The priest that married them actually said "finally", so did Joe. He said "with this ring, I the finally wed".
Sandra Oh’s reaction to being called a « fine educator » is so epic
"The flags allow me to park anywhere, we keep the flags" WEEZEE
I want that 🤣
He's my favorite character in the Princess Diaries. I love the scene where he says to Mia
"how are you feeling today, my dear?"
"Honestly, Joe. Not that great."
"would you feel better if you called me Joey?"
"No, Joe."
"Good"
😂
4:08 I love this little detail but Joe actually parks the imaginary car - its so his protective character to do that 🤣👌
Anyone notice he puts the imaginary car in park before he picks up the prime minister 😂
If they ever make another Princess Diaries movie I want it to be only a friends to lovers story about Joe and Clarisse-
They got married in the sequel

If I ever have a daughter, I want my relationship with her to be like Mia and Joe’s.
when i was younger and watched princess diaries RELIGIOUSLY, i always thought that queen clarice and joe were the epitome of love, like look at them!!
I swear when he says "if you hurt my girl" he's no longer talking about Mia, he's talking about Clarisse because even before they got together, she was "his girl" and he will kill to protect her
Probably refering to both Clarisse and Mia
no he was talking about Mia she was the one Viscount was sabotaging to steal the crown from her so his nephew could be king
@@tamara2102 I know but Joe only says "if you hurt my girl" after the viscount says "the whole country understands how you cater to the crown's emotions" which is an obvious reference to Joe's relationship with the Queen. Hence why I said he's talking about Clarisse there
“I have diplomatic immunity in 46 countries, including Puerto Rico.” Best part.
That's because Hector Elizondo himself is Puerto Rican
It’s taken me this long to realize that in the waving gently scene, Joe is “driving” a car, and when he stops he signals, pulls over, and puts on the brake hahahaha
“joseph” “your majesty”
“DEAR joseph” *joseph gives look of curiosity and terror*
After 22 years, Joe's small proud smile after Mia and Lilly laugh at the hearse joke is still one of my top Princess Diaries moments 💖
Fun fact. Joe and the writer have worked on the director’s previous work, which was Pretty Woman. The actor played the elevator boy in the movie.
Iirc, he played the manager of the hotel, not the elevator boy.
@@bananawal8215 You're talking about Hector Elizondo who played Joe (who is awesome, obviously). I believe MrLion was talking about the actor Patrick Richwood, who played the writer/neighbor in Princess Diaries and the elevator boy in Pretty Woman. I had not known this previously, but according to the internet MrLion was correct, which is pretty cool 😎
@@rachelavidan-king4013 Ooh, I see. I didn't realized they'd meant the writer character. Thanks for letting me know!
Hector Elizondo was in every Garry Marshall movie. They were friends and colleagues of long standing.
YES! He did! He was adorable!
Joe is one of the very best parts of those movies and the romance between Joe and Clarisse was so beautiful, tender and intimate.
I loved this character and his romance with his queen when I was younger, but I feel I appreciated them even better when I was an adult.
Joe really licked his lips before kissing the Queen like OKAY
We all said finally when the priest did 😂
Love the scene where she breaks down and it's like he's come to the rescue like a knight in shining armor in the limo
2:12 Joe's "your majesty" he's sooo jealous here lmao
I love the scene where they look at prince William. Charlotte says "I just love to look at him" the queen:"me too" Joe: "your majesty* 😂😂😂
“I have diplomatic immunity in 26 countries” what a bad ass
46 not 26
...and Puerto Rico.
One of the best parts about this relationship is that it's not something you see often. A romance as sweet and gentles as this blossoming between people older than 40 or 50 (and I'm only guessing) is so rare. Every movie focuses on younger and younger people finding the love of their life. Not only that, but Clarisse is finding the love of her life AFTER a divorce and children. Most media really makes it seem like your life is over by 30.
Joe is a Hufflepuff in Slytherin’s clothing. I love him for that!
I always considered him gryffindor
2:39 I have always loved that line. He is the Father she never had, and she is the daughter he never had. ❤😊!!!!
6:42 Okay, I know this is a video about Joe, but I'd never noticed how Helen looks near murderous in this moment.
...Oh my God.
I was just thinking about how Joe and the Queen have such a delicious knight-and-lady dynamic, when it dawned on me that as the royal family's head of security, Joe is literally the closest modern-day equivalent to a knight!
I love how Joe is so protective and supportive of the Queen and Princess Mia.
This is one of those actors you forget their name but always remember their roles
I’d be curious of what happened so that he obtained diplomatic immunity in 46 countries, including Puerto Rico 😂
He's in love with a Queen and he's just simply Joe, I think that's all he needed to get diplomatic immunity 😂
Rode shotgun with James Bond once. Trust me, that diplomatic immunity came in handy.
He's definitely the grandfather Mia deserved.
joe and clarisse ❤❤❤❤❤ they were so sweet

Joe is literally the best
he really is ❤️
I wonder if Joe is related to Alfred Pennyworth? Both are gentlemen's gentlemen, urbane, protective, sarcastic, and badass to anyone who endangers the ones they love. Also, both are ahem bald.
I believe it's a Badass Code. No hair to grab, only (if lucky) their ears. 😉
The tension between Joe and the queen is just so high 😭🤚
Julie Andrews is a QUEEN!!
That she is!! I absolutely adore her! And we are so lucky to have her still with us! I love you so much Julie Andrews!!❤️❤️🤍❤️
2:39 me as a dads daughter is when ever my dads gets a gut feeling but it’s faster then mine but I know when we meet someone new and I turn my back for not even a minute I figure he’s way over protective of me and this clip here alone reminds me of him :)
The way he says "My girl" hits something in my soul.
Joseph was the best he really watched out for Mia and classrire
“I have diplomatic immunity in 46 countries, including Puerto Rico” hahahahh love himmmm ❤️👌
Joe talking about the pumps (do I want them wrapped or do I want to wear them), the protective caring nature of his relationship with Mia, especially when he says ‘if you hurt my girl, you will answer directly to me’ and the fact that he essentially sassed the queen when he said she was too harsh on her granddaughter. He is badass. And that hearse comment was brilliant🤣🤣🤣 I need to watch these films again it’s been too long😭😭
this is EXACTLY what i needed rn
glad i could help!❤️
For some reason this guy sounds like a spirit owl that knows a thousand things and owns an underground library that has a vast collection of knowledge and has little fox companions. Hmmm 🧐
Wait was it the same actor? I can't believe I never put that together
He had main character energy 🤣🤣
joe is the best, a father or a friend someone like joe is meriting gold
the entire country just wanted those two to finally get together. I love Joe he is the best character in Princess Diaries. He's the only one who never got mad or doubted Mia
Sandra Oh is priceless as the principal 😂

Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo had the most natural chemistry! I hope they remained friends in real life. They seem delightful together.
“This is between a waltz and a tango. You see?”
“It’s a wango?”
“No.”
🤣
“And if it WERE a hearse, there would be silence in the backseat” 😂
Elizondo is the utlimate rock when it comes to advice, protect and father the girls! He's Julia Robert's rock in Pretty woman, Anne Hataway's in the Princess diaries, ... and I'm pretty sure I've seen him be the same rock for an other pretty girl several times. They seem to cast him the same parts every time, but he does it so good I'm not complaining
That's why we love Joe. Love this ❤
❤️❤️ joe's a legend
no one ever talks about that Joe literally "parks" the car when they're practicing waving
2:10
Joe be like, "Damn girl!"
Jo being the iconic grand dad for more than 10 minutes 😍😍😍
At 4:09 he honks and parks the invisible car! One of my favorite tiny moments
"this is a non-riot hurse."
for some reason that always makes me laugh more than the following line.
"If you hurt My Girl.... You will answer directly to me."
Idk why, but his delivery in saying "My Girl" is so CHILLINGLY admirable. It's almost as if he's talking about Mia AND Queen Clairise simultaneously. His tone is stone-cold threatening, protecting and more. You could tell he broke his "Security" persona and it was straight JOE speaking as an honorable father, grandfather and husband.
EVERY woman deserves to feel this loved, devoted to and protected❤️❤️❤️
LITERALLY this movie was THE movie like……NOSTALGIC…..My sister and I watched this over and over
the way Joe is pretended driving an invisible car was so cute, I didn't notice that before
This man...this man is phenomenal. Adored him in Pretty Woman and in Princess Diaries.
