    Kill Bill is a classic. It can come across as 'simple violence' but the atmosphere, soundtrack and character dynamic makes it so much more.

      Exactly. Some people just don't understand that Tarantino LOVES cinema. His movies are meant to be viewed through that lense. Anything can happen but it's exaggerated. It's meant to be a wild fun ride. Not meant to be seen through critical eyes, but as a movie lover. Once you understand that, you will see how Awesome his movies are. I love getting immersed in the worlds he's created. Amazing movie!

      @@Charlesbaker3017 I would recommend giving it a second try, but as a QT fan, I might be biased. Tarantino has a distinct directing and writing style, and if you simply don't like it, then you don't like it. It's fine. It's like me with Wes Anderson. A lot of people praise him and his movies but I just couldn't like them, at least the ones I saw.

    So much of this movie has nods to classic films. The nurse whistling, the Charlie Brown, and especially the yellow suit. It is a nod to Bruce Lee's jumpsuit in Game of Death. Mad respect all the way round.

    I really liked how you noticed how unfazed O-ren is. I think after her parents died, she kinda discovered the ability to be emotionally present. When the bride first showed up, she was genuinely shocked. And she had time to compose herself and retreat inward. When Boss Tanaka talked about her heritage, and by extension, her parents, she dropped her numbness completely. I really love how complex O-ren's character is. I wish we had more time with her.

  • @jackrussell1232

    Fun fact! The weapon used by Gogo is a modified meteor hammer, which was an actual Chinese weapon. Its actual use in combat required an absolute mastery of the weapon, but the neck and leg wraps that you see her doing are actually extremely easy to pull off. I used to do flow arts and my main focus was on the rope dart, which is the same thing but with a sharpened metal dart at the end instead of a ball, but the move set is basically the same. The general rule is that if you wrap around a part of your body on one side it will unwrap if you bring it to the other side. So if you wrap it around your neck in front of you, you can either turn around or throw your neck back and it will unwrap. It's intimidating, but not particularly difficult to pull off. Anyone can learn to do it in an hour or so.

    I really liked how O-ren is characterized as this kinda soft spoken sociopath. It makes sense to me. If I saw my mother and father brutally murdered at such a young age, nothing would really phase me. And O-ren really only got pushed to genuine anger when her parents were disrespected. She had such a deep characterization. And it's one of those characterizations where they don't try to redeem her. We understand and sympathize with her. And we understand the path she took, even if it wasn't a good one.

    I love that scene of O-Rishi and her crew. And of course Tarantino just absolutely NAILS the soundtrack. The dude absolutely creates some iconic music movie moments. And absolutely hands-down Hollywood's greatest director in the last 40+ years. He's like Daniel Day Lewis. They'll only make a film like once every 7-9 years but every time they do it's just completely Oscar worthy.
    So while someone like Spielberg may get more attention & acclaim just because he's doing one movie a year.....AT LEAST. And most of them are worthy of attention & acclaim. But there are some duds too. Not with Tarantino.

    Not sure how many people mentioned it, but this film has numerous homages to other revenge films. The main combat was inspired by Japanese films (which had that same kind of blood effect) and even some of the sound effects and camera moves were based on those films.
    Fun Fact: There was a popular TV show in Japan called Shadow Warriors featuring the character Hattori Hanzō (named after the historical figure). The same actor player Hattori Hanzō III (and in a later season he was the descendant of that character) named Hattori Hanzō XV

    You really should look up all the trivia on this movie. Tarantino is a serious movie buff so a lot of the soundtrack and SFX is actually sampling from older movies. Even the way the censorship of the overly bloody scenes is a specific stylistic choice. The yellow jumpsuit that the Bride wears is an allusion to Bruce Lee in the Game of Death, SO much background can be said about this!

    I found your channel through your rdr2 playthrough and after watching you play south park, assassins creed origins and spiderman I have to say you're one of the funniest gamers I've seen on RUclips and I'm now clicking that subscribe button also if you like this Tarantino film you should watch True Romance, not directed by him but was scripted by him and one of the most under rated films he has done

    The two tone siren like sound is the opening of the theme music from the 60s tv series _Ironside_

      And the arriving in Tokyo music is the theme from _The Green Hornet_ which featured Bruce Lee as Kato, and inspired the Crazy 88's masks.

    In Los Angeles I rode on a bus from down town to the east side with a cavalry sabre and no one questioned it and cops that passed didn't give me a second look.

    She's hunting down all the women in her old gang who conspired to kill her, and ultimately Bill (the father) who stole her baby. Shite I'd have gone on a rampage too.👍

    One of the best movies ever made. So glad I picked up the Blu-ray combo pack for Volume 1 and 2. Wish they would release them on 4k or at least release Kill Bill:The whole Bloody Affair

    These two are the best action movie of the 2000s if not ever in my opinion. John Wick channels a lot of this movie.

    Yes, you need to watch Vol. 2. Keep in mind that Tarentino borrowed a lot from the Japanese movies he watched when he was younger. I highly recommend you watch Battle Royale (one of his personal favorites) where he saw Chiaki Kuriyama who he cast as Gogo Yubari, Lady Snowblood, and Lone Wolf and Cub series. BTW, Jon Favreau acknowledged Lone Wolf and Cub as an inspiration for The Mandalorian.

    Tarrantino loved to watch the ol' karate movies of the 70s; and they used cheesy sound effects like Tarentino did in this movie.

    It’s funny how the title says this is her first time watching Kill Bill but when she’s riding on her Motorcycle in the film she says “that’s her iconic outfit.” So if this is in fact her first time watching this how would she even know that? Lol

    • @boyaintright3317
      @boyaintright3317 3 года назад

      That's part of what something being iconic means. Your reasoning is like being surprised that someone recognises Superman without them having seen any Superman films.

    • @vincew4297
      @vincew4297 3 года назад

      @@boyaintright3317 that is not a good comparison lol everyone knows Hero’s like Superman or someone like Wonder Woman and their iconic outfits because they’ve been around for 80+ years. Kill Bill is a great movie, but you wouldn’t put it in the iconic category like them, plus surprisingly a lot of people haven’t seen Kill Bill either.

    Pulp Fiction is a great Tarantino film, the sound effects from Kill Bill was on purpose by Tarantino- as a nod to the old Bruce Lee films AND Adam West Batman.
