Michelle is the first reactor I've seen to successfully come up with the word "atrophied" in reference to The Brides' legs after the coma (and many have tried!)... and she isn't a native English speaker! Well done!
"Atrophie" - Atrophy is not originally an English word. Most medical terms are latin/Greek origin

@sergeantbigmac Do I know for sure no. But my guess is across Europe.. probably. Russians and Italians both call cars machina but pronounces the ch as "sh" and "hard C /k" sound. different but same but different.
English "Atrophy"... Bulgarian атрофия (Atrofiya) - And yeah... virtually the same word in early Latin and Greek from which it is derived.

If you've watched Pulp Fiction, there is a scene where Uma Thurman's character says she tells Vincent Vega (John Travolta's character) that she auditioned for a part in a movie/TV show pilot called Fox Force Five about an all-female assassination squad, which is what I think was a nod to this (Kill Bill) future movie.
Tarantino has admitted that all his movies take place in the same universe. So yeah, the dinner scene is exactly a description of this
These are the first reactors I've ever heard point out the parallels of Bill and the guy in the anime. I've always believed Bill unalived O-Ren's dad and she just didn't get a good look at him. He came into the picture after she was under the bed so, maybe she just didn't get a good look. Even the music turns western in the anime when he makes an appearance, just like when Bill comes on the screen.
Tarantino already denied that. The guy's name is Pretty Rick, and he was supposed to see a sequence in the part of the anime where O-Ren killed him.
You two are lucky. I remember literally shouting “NO!!!” in the theatre with the cliffhanger ending, knowing I would have to wait 6 months to see the next volume.😂

34:31 parts of Bushido (Samurai code essentially) demanded that Samurai show compassion to those weaker than them, which were mainly women, children and the elderly. That's why Uma Thurman's character spanked the young man and told him to go home, because it was the honorable thing to do, seeing that he was under (or just about) 18 years old.
There's also a Classic Japanese film called "Yojimbo" where the main character, Sanjuro, a wandering Ronin, scolds a young man by telling him that children shouldn't play with swords and sending him home without harming him.
The Cottonmouth is a venomous snake in parts of the US. A friend of mine got bitten on the hand by one and nearly lost his arm to the elbow. Fortunately for him it didn't come to that and healed up, but it took a long time.
I had to look that up, but all the code names of the assassins ladies are names of snakes. I didn’t know that until a few months ago.
The yellow jumpsuit is actually a reference to an outfit the Bruce Lee wore in the classic martial arts movie Game of Death. The movie is a homage to classic Japanese samurai and Chinese martial arts movies, which Tarantino is a huge fan of.
Interesting fact, Kill Bill 1 and 2 were originally made as ONE movie. But the film was simply too long and Quentin was adamant that he did not want to cut any of it. So he broke it into 2 separate films. This is why the flash forwards in this movie actually reference the next film.
Personally I think Kill Bill 2 is a better film overall because the dialog between the characters is so much better. Enjoy!
But the "Is she aware that her daughter is still alive" is such a perfect cliffhanger ending. I think the division in two parts works very well. The first part gives us the "what," and then the second gives us the "why."

Trivia note: Part of the reason why The Bride Vs. The Crazy 88 fight scene is mostly in black & white is because it would have made the film too graphic to be released in theaters if in color due to the amount of blood shown. Also, there is an extended cut of the scene that is a few minutes longer that shows how the last member originally lost his mask, as well as how water was used instead of blood in some shots before being replaced with blood later.
I’ve read that in Japan it was all shown in color.

The Japanese release had the Crazy 88 scene in color. That was the way I saw the movie for the first time.
@@garycollins7750 I was stationed over their when it came out. It was in color there. Also I didn't get the subtitles for the Japanese's speaking parts. I thought I was remembering wrong when I saw that sequence on a dvd years later.

Uma Thurman’s outfit in Japan is based on what Bruce Lee wore in Game of Death. Quentin Tarantino said Uma hated the jumpsuit and didn’t know about the connection so he had her watch Game of Death and once she got the connection to Bruce Lee, she understood the jumpsuit. You mentioned stunts... the most underrated Tarantino movie is Deathproof, a horror movie starring Uma Thurman's stunt double from this movie. She does her own stunts, and she is amazing. :)

Hattori Hanzo makes terrible Sushi in Okinawa, which is a place in Japan known as the worst spot for Sushi. A perfect hiding place for a retired sword smith.
I enjoyed the irony of The Homies saying her name more times than it was bleeped out in the movie.
“Can you imagine if they really did this in the hospitals?” they do, unfortunately. There’s been PLENTY of cases of women in a coma suddenly being pregnant. Also happens to conscious patients who can see, hear and feel what’s happening to them but are completely unable to move and speak.
Being in such a vulnerable position absolutely terrifies me to death.

The assassin names are all based on snakes, and most of them are American snakes that have almost no imagination in the names.
The name Cottonmouth refers to an American viper (snake). It's very dark, almost black, but the inside of it's mouth is bright white. it's common in the South, where cotton is grown.
Sidewinder is a type of American rattlesnake, also a viper. They live in the hot desert and move sideways rather than the way you'd expect them to.
Copperhead is another viper. They are a red-brown with a copper-colored head.
Black Mamba is an African snake (not a viper), that is known for being highly aggressive and with very strong venom.
California Mountain King Snake is not venomous. They actually eat other snakes, but are mostly harmless to people.
Not all of the names match the characters.

The black and white part was partly for ratings for all the blood, but also a salute to '70s Samurai movies which were rebroadcast on TV in B&W just for ratings.
Chuck Norris was originally approached to play the part of Bill, but turned it down, due to the gruesome violence.
Region 0 version has over 20 minn of uncut seens, black and white seen in full color, and all cursing, extra 25 minn of movie.
probably the bloodiest movie ever made. tarantino wanted it to be manga bloody, and that's pretty damn bloody.
I would say:
Sidewinder(Budd) was probably effective enough but not as good as the others. His knowledge in tactics and subterfuge give him an edge though. I feel like he only made the squad because he was Bill's brother.
Copperhead(Vernita) was definitely the best at edged weapons, especially knives and I guess by extension swords, razors, etc. Using edged weapons requires good skill in close quarters combat so its safe to assume she was level 4 out of 5 in that area as well. Guns, while proficient was probably a weak area for her though.
Cottonmouth(O-Ren) was at her best with ranged weaponry (swords and guns). She more than likely did have hand to hand combat skill but because we don't have have too much to go off of, maybe that was more of a last resort for her. Swordplay was better than The Bride's and gun skill better than Vernita.
California Mountain Snake (Elle) was Bill's enforcer within the Deadly Vipers should anyone of them get out of line so its safe to say that she could've taken on anyone of them and given them a challenge if not won. Plus she specializes in poisons which is something all the other Vipers lack. I do however think that she lacked swordplay though. In my head, the only reason she wanted the Hattori Hanzo sword was because it was Bea's. If you watch the fight, she didn't even have the discipline to use it properly.
Black Mamba(The Bride). The best all-around...not in terms of techinique...but in terms of Balance. When you think about it, she wasn't that much better than the other deadly vipers and many of her wins were by by luck (O-Ren let her get up/If Vernita was prepared, fight could've gone a different way/Budd could've taken her out after shooting her/Elle was slightly winning the fight before Bea got her eye). Every other Assassin outclassed her in something but they also had blind spots that she didn't.
Just my opinion though
Black Mamba is an extremely poisonous snake. She was named that because she was a badest one of the squad.
Kill Bill was filmed as one movie. But realized a movie running time about 4 hours 45 minutes would be to long of a movie for fans to pay and go see. So they decided to split it into 2 volumes.

This movie is very good. everyone should watch it. It is one of my favorite movies. These types of movies are lesser created in the Hollywood industry.

Perfect reactions to a perfect movie. I have seen this movie several times, but I really enjoyed watching you. At the end it says the Bride is based on a character created by Q&U which is Quentin and Uma. They brainstormed while filming "Pulp Fiction."
