You should be able to get yourself exposed to as many Vietnamese native people as possible, I bet your Vietnamese speaking skills would be gradually improved day by day ... Like I am studying your nation's language, 😅
I don't do resolutions. I just turned 70 yesterday so I'm pretty much happy about everything. My view is if you have to start a resolution at a specific time, you're probably not going to go through with it. Start changing immediately. 🙂
Happy lunar New Year. Since I've seen you last, I've moved to Da Nang. I've been in Vietnam for about 3 months and Da Nang a little over a month now. I sold everything in the states, I didn't have much and retired here. Presently I am paying a monthly rent at a four-star hotel but sooner or later most likely March. I will find a house or a nice apartment. I can spend around 800 or $900 US. And yes I know that's a tremendous amount but it works for me. I really like it here. It's been absolutely great. Hope and glad you're doing well. Have a great year of the Snake.
Chuc mung nam moi, Van! I assume you're going home to Hanoi for new year, if so, reach out to Uyen Ninh as she's also home for Tet. She has a big SM platform so it'd a great collab. If you are in HCMC, then reach out to Jenn Tran since she's there for about 4 more days.
been driving in the US for almost 18 years, used to work in Germany for 8 months, driving the top speed of my rental on the German Autobahn countlessly... not just right side driving countries, but also some left side driving countries as Japan or UK.... my family still be like "Dat! dont ever drive a car in Vietnam!!!" ... sounds like a contest to me lol.
So sleeping and journaling huh? Who doesn't like sleep? I did Xanga once upon a time. Btw, we're both Rats / Scorpios, and I migrated at 11 to the U.S. to study.
Chúc em năm mới vui vẻ. Em đẹp quá! I love your videos a lot ! Hope you make more videos in this coming year and success! I am from Seattle. Please come visit in a near future.
I really enjoy your videos. My big intention for this year is to go back and visit Vietnam where I was born. I haven't been back since I came to the States 37 years ago, so I don't know our country from an adult's perspective. I might be in the odd category in that I really don't spend time wondering about the personal lives of the content creaters I watch; I figure it's really none of my business, and I only focus on what they share. I think part of this is because I myself am a very private person. If I'm not thinking about my job teaching technology, being an accessibility specialist, or training dogs, I'm buried in a book or out taking nature photos... so too many things for me to make room for thinking about things I don't know anyway. ::LOL:: I also deal with stress by sleeping though that doesn't always work for me. Meditation does, though and is part of my daily routine.
I love Vietnam, and I love Vietnamese, for over 60 years now. When I was there many years ago, as briefly as that was, I did everything I could to help them and protect them. Even those that tried to kill me. I love them... And now Vietnam has become a very dynamic country. Growing so much and so fast. Vietnamese have to go to other countries because there is very little room for them in Vietnam. When I lived in Australia it was easy to go to Vietnam for a day or two to take it in. Nothing special for the trip. Just to be there and was what was important. And when in Australia, I always looked for Vietnamese to get to know them. But they were very wary of my intentions because most Australians take a dim view of Asians. But no matter to me... I sought them out without any intrusion. And here in America now, my only true friends are Vietnamese. All my neighbors too. It's a beautiful life I live. My last job I worked with over 100 Vietnamese. It was wonderful to be with them everyday. But then I was laid off so now my new job has no Vietnamese. I like the job but I die every day there. I'm trying to recruit some now because they are very good workers. So it's great to be with my friends as often as possible. I like your videos to give me the perspective and vision of Vietnam. I'm going back very soon but our paths may not cross. Sure people are curious about you and want to know your status but to me it's of no interest. I want you to be happy and prosperous. As far as the war... it's over. I don't want to know more than what I know. I don't really do activities with my fellow veterans because of things they seem to focus on. I never talk about the war with my Vietnamese friends. What matters now is what we have and who we have become. There will be new wars to talk about. But good luck to you and take care in 2025. Năm của con rắn. CHÚC MỪNG NĂM MỚI!
My goal this year is to able to converse in basic Vietnamese and able to listen to Vietnamese dialogue: went to Hanoi last few weeks, excellent trip and laid out the foundation of my next trip, probably to Sa Pa next year January to enjoy the winter. I am planning a trip to HCM in March. Should be a short journey to pick up some books for my Vietnamese language learning. The Viet Eng dictionary that I am using is trash and Google translate ain’t helping. It’s time to get a bigger gun And I believe that HCM had better and more types of books compared to Hanoi.
Okay. I have been playing pickleball for over 8 years. I'm not the best player out there but I'm not the worst. Some suggestions for you. Don't take any lessons until after a couple months of playing. Just have fun! There's a million videos on RUclips for beginners and intermediates. Watch some of those and go out and have a good time. Don't take any lessons when you do from westerners. Take them from Vietnamese. There are plenty out there. Don't buy any super expensive paddle. When you get better, if you stick with it, then buy yourself a better paddle. I brought 5 paddles with me. It does make a difference. If you're going back to the States, think about buying a paddle there. A lot more options and pricing. Like any sport, you'll only get better with practice. If you decide you really love pickleball and want to get better, find a friend and do drills. You will get better five times faster by doing drills, the hard part is finding somebody who wants to do them also. Playing you do get better but slowly. If you have any questions please let me know. There were no courts as far as I know 2 years ago in Vietnam, now there's hundreds. And Da Nang. I have three different Pickleball clubs I can actually walk to. With another three or four a 5-minute scooter ride away. Have fun! It's a fantastic sport, I personally love it. Enjoy!
