Ry Cooder just kills on that slide guitar. Song is a masterpiece. Some have speculated that this song is about the Vietnam veterans who became addicted to morphine as a result of hospital care for injuries. Other than that it's a junkies song for sure. I've been in the hospital twice on morphine 7/24 with shots every 4 hours for weeks at a time because the pain from my conditions was so intense. So I understand calling for 'sister morphine' more times than I can count. I kept my hospital room at 65°f because I would burn up from the morphine. Basically I was in a morphine coma for weeks at a time. Blues song to the core. My favorite song on the album.
Rock n roll was hitting its stride in the late 1960s and early 70s. Some of the greatest rock music in history was recorded in those years, including the late Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stones, Who, Pink Floyd, among many other great bands of the era.
For all you young people out there who are rediscovering this great music with your vinyl collecting, the album cover with the real metal zipper glued in is where it ($$$$$) is at.
The tension of the lyrics and the slow buildup of instruments is so intense you don’t realize Charlie doesn’t kick in with full drums until the song is half over!
A great album gives a little something for everyone to enjoy. It's a very, very difficult task to do that and remain yourself at the same time. Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones does that in my opinion. Part 3 of the great era of the stones.
Wow Yes! So in agreement with on this one. It's dark but it shines all the same. I have to also say I commend you on probably the BEST REACTION video because You Listened and Didnt't stop or talk over the music!!!! You respectfully saved your reaction comments for last. Most other reaction video makers are almost IMPOSSIBLE to listen to or deal with. They say really inane dopey baloney and go on and on loving the sound of their own voices. A few do it right - ANDY & ALEX do it well. So Bravo to you. THANKS!!!!!!!
I am glad to hear you enjoyed it. Many don't understand the concept, but that's fine. Hope you will subscribe for more or at least checj the play list for any other reaction that I did in the past.

"Sister Morphine" is a great song. And the Rolling Stones delivered a terrific cover of Marianne Faithfull's brilliant original.

One of the best tracks on Sticky Fingers
Credit to Marianne Faithfull, who did the original. She has her own history with the Stones.

JFC what an incredible song. 100% the best Stones album.
All the Stones know about this lol...graduated High School in1973 and knew this came out before I graduated
great,
Ry Cooder's on this track. He's worth an exploration in himself. 'Bop Til You Drop' & 'Borderline' were memorable to me.
I see the Slide guitar surprised you
