- I ndíl chuimhne Paddy Fahey (1916-2019), a cailleadh sa bhliain 2019 ag 102 bliain d'aois. B'as Cill Chonaill in oirthear an chontae do Paddy Fahey a chum ós cionn 100 píosa ceoil ar fad. Bronnadh gradam Cumadóir na Bliana TG4 ar Paddy Fahey sa bhliain 2001.
In memory of Paddy Fahey (aka Paddy Fahy, 1916-2019) : Paddy Fahey was an Irish composer and fiddler who is considered one of the finest composers of tunes that are in the style of traditional Irish music. Fahey was from Kilconnell in East Galway. His music had a distinctive yearning, magical quality often referred to as "Draíocht".
Here he is performing a set of his own compositions with the Kane Sisters, Liz and Yvonne, at Gradam Ceoil TG4 in 2001, the year he received his Composer of the Year award in Cork Opera House. 3 reels: Paddy Fahey's (Reel 0:05), Paddy Fahey's (1:09) & Paddy Fahey's (2:32).
Seo hiad na deirfiúracha Kane ag seinm le Paddy Fahey ag Gradam Ceoil TG4 2001 i gCorcaigh. Tá siad ag casadh trí ríl a chum Paddy é féin.

Sensational and virtuoso performance Mac dara from an old pal. Stephen O'Kelly
Rest in Peace Paddy. Blessings and gratitude.
We have lost a great light. But he has left our culture richer for having being amongst us. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis
In a style of music generally played in G, D, and A (and their corresponding modal scales), it’s fantastic he was so rooted in that Galway sound and gave us a wealth of tunes in interesting flat keys, in C, F, D minor, G minor & mixolydian, and a few Bb as well! And not only that he gave us some other fun keys to play in, but that they’re so SUBLIME melodically! Really unique. Fahey is Fahey, and you can hear it. Ed Reavy is Ed Reavy. They all have their accent and flavors. Plus all the other composers I’m forgetting!
RIP PADDY THE BED OF HEAVEN TO YOU FABULOUS MUSICIAN
The sign of a true master, he makes it look easy.
Such beauty and lilt in his compositions. You have given us such timeless gifts. I'll play your music forever.

Paddy RIP your music will prevale thank you
God rest you Paddy ! A brilliant musician and composer!
R I P...a great and sensitive developer of the tradition. Wonderful sense of melody and how to make artistic sense of a phrase with alternations of his sharps, flats and naturals in the most musical manner ..an art indeed which was greatly in evidence in the playing of Joe Cooley Joe Bourke Paddy O'Brien (Portroe) and Paddy Carty to name some and one which may be getting scarce.
Thanks for taking the time to leave that insightful comment.
His quiet demeanour, his stillness, is so amazing. Engrossed in the musical moment...
Yes, a master at his craft.
Lovely! Heaven has a brilliant addition and his music will endure here for us as well.
Probably the saying "the likes of him wont be seen again" is apt in Paddy Fahy's case. RIP
To think of all the tunes that fiddle has heard...

Can anyone advise, was Paddy Fahey's music ever collected and published? This is Genius.
He never named, recorded or published a single tune. He would just show up at sessions and play and ppl started taping him. Maria Holohan collected 60 of his tunes for her dissertation.
DOES anyone have the titles of these tunes..?
They are Paddy Fahey's reels #8, 3, and 5.
Sweet. Would anyone here know the names of the tunes played here?
They’re all, named, Paddy Fahey’s. Few have names.
It's titled as I ndil chuimhne Paddy Fahey (In fond memory of Paddy Fahey) but it is most likely an untitled ríleanna
