I watch Pentatonix reactions for both Mitch and bass face. Mitch's high end is impressive and they've found an amazing follow-up to Avi's ridiculous bass.
I think he’s falling down the rabbit hole now and well on his way to becoming a fully fledged Pentaholic😀. Hallelujah was the first song I heard from them and I haven’t stop listening since.
The Mitch face.😂🤣. Kevin is the beatboxer, Avi is bass, Kirsten female singer, Scott is the baritone and covers bass. Mitch is the tenor. I listen to this song everyday. Thank you.❤
@@ari8184 But this song (as the author himself emphasized) is not about faith. The author himself was probably an atheist, this song is about unfulfilled love and sexual intercourse, but I might be wrong
Yes! Scott regularly does that when their bass singer has a solo. Scott can cover a wide range from bass to tenor-ish, though baritone is his home territory. A good example of Scott doing this is their video of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch," in which their new bass Matt (the only personnel change over the years) takes the lead throughout, and the constant close-ups show Scott holding down the bass line.
@@ForbiddenChocolate i‘m pretty sure i stole it too... I don’t know why people generally gravitate towards „Mitch face“ when „Mitch slapped“ is RIGHT THERE. 😂
An introduction to Pentatonix for you: Scott: the tall blonde guy in the middle with the first solo. He's the baritone of the group but has a range of about 4 octaves. He's just as comfortable harmonizing on the high notes as he is taking the bass line when Avi is singing. Speaking of which... Avi: the guy with the beanie and the second solo. He's an amazing opera trained bass and doesn't have many solo parts but he always kills it when he does sing. He left the group in 2017 on good terms with the rest of the members and helped find his replacement, Matt. Kirstin: the only female in the group, she had the third solo. She has the least solos of the main 3 that you'll find, but she always kills it when she does sing(examples are Say Something, Sound of Silence, Imagine, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, all of which are among their best work) Mitch: He's the man with the amazing voice and the final solo in this song. He's a tenor, and has a purely angelic voice. He also has an amazing range, I've heard 5 octaves before. Kevin: an AMAZING beatboxer, that's his main role, but he occasionally shows off his beautiful tenor voice (Imagine is a great example) and his skills with the cello, which he can play while beatboxing simultaneously. Pentatonix got their start on an old competition show called the Sing Off where acapella groups competed against each other for a $200,000 cash prize and a recording contract. Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch sang in choir together in school and have been best friends since they were teenagers. They found Avi through a friend and Kevin through one of his "cello boxing"(playing the cello and beatboxing) videos that went viral. They won the competition, you can still find the performances on RUclips. It's amazing to watch them grow throughout the show. Unfortunately, the record label dropped them shortly after they moved out to make music, so they persevered and self produced for a while until they were picked up by another label. They are the only acapella group to ever win a Grammy, and they have won 3: for their Daft Punk medley, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jolene ft. Dolly Parton. They're an amazing group, every one of them is one of the most talented singers in the world, and they have never released a bad song imo. Yes they do sound the same live, and yes it is all acapella. They never use instruments except for the occasional use of a cello when they feel it enhances the song (like their covers of Radioactive, Say Something, and Perfect). They have a rule that if they can't do it live they can't release it. I recommend all 3 songs above, Bohemian Rhapsody, Imagine, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Sound of Silence, Amazing Grace, and anything else you want to hear! Their Grammy winners are all insanely good. I also recommend any of their original songs like Sing, Be My Eyes, Happy Now, The Lucky Ones, etc. Welcome to musical bliss!
Basically, if you don't see and instrument, it's their voices only. You will occasionally see Lindsey Sterling (violin) guest with them and they just released a new Christmas song 'Thank You' that has Scott playing piano (a first for them) and Kevin on the cello. There are also a few fan vids out there of concerts where the venue (like The Hollywood Bowl) basically required them to use at least parts of an orchestra - but, again, you will see the instruments if they do. I say all this because Avi is not only a fantastic bass, but can also do overtone singing - ie singing two notes at once. He uses it to good effect to create a very electronic synth type sound on some of their songs.
What he said...lol. he saved me the typing. Amazing Grace is rapidly becoming one of my favorite songs by them. Other groups that really succeeded after Sing Off! are Home Free (Tim Faust's bass is amazing, and Misty Mountains shows him off) and Voice Play (their bass Geoff Castalucci recently released Sixteen Tonnes and should be required listening)
Don't forget Aha Live at the Star Vista Singapore. Avi KILLS the Christus Factus and Mitch....O, Mitch, Mitch, Mitch...he SLAYS it! His best performance ever and one of Avi's too. Mary, did you know is also a good one of all of them. Go on to Avi's solo career, he just released a EP earlier. Three songs stand out on the one Change on the Rise, Chains and It knows Me. Oh Avi, that voice...swoon!!!
@@MetalGuyReacts just want to say thank you! Love all the reactions! Watch over reaction videos but you are my favorite! Also metal/ heavy music is the best! Who's your favorite band?
@@gaynora1858 I agree with you about Kevin. He definitely has a glow about him, whether he's singing, playing the cello, beatboxing or playing the piano. He just has it all going on. It doesn't hurt that he's a gorgeous man, either!! When he looks right in the camera lens, it feels like he's looking right at you. OK, maybe I'm just hoping there! I'm old but I'm not dead, ha ha!
Best part about Pentatonix is: It doesn't matter who's lead at the moment - the others give their everything to support that lead. And the second they pass the lead to someone else, they get behind the new lead and don't try to keep the spotlight. The tall guy, young lady, and guy in the hat (aka Scott, Kirstin, and Mitch) also have been friends since childhood. The group, including both Avi and Matt, are as much a family as they are a group.
The guy in the hat is Mitch Grassi. He is a counter tenor. And it’s called “Mitch face”, which is the face reactors make when hearing his voice for the first time. Yours did not disappoint! All of us Pentaholics love to watch first time reactors for that. Pentatonix did a live version of this song for one of their Christmas specials a few years ago. I don’t think you will hear much difference.
They sound the same in their concerts although they have changed it up a bit since Matt replaced Avi. I thought I heard Kirstin go off key once in the last concert I seen them but then realized it was the woman sitting behind me that was singing along lol.
Although I am a Pentaholic, I have also obsessed finding 1st timer reviewers of Pentatonix...both Mitch's upper register and Kevin's magic as instrument "section"-he kills the percussion. Check, also, Mitch doing electric guitar riffs in Bohemian Rhapsody, augmenting/distorting with a megaphone.
@@larrygranbois4164 You just gave her and every other singer there is an Excuse If they go off key."It wasn't me. It was the person sitting behind you singing along."
Their version of Mary Did You Know is my absolute favorite song they’ve done, christmas or otherwise. there is just something in the harmonies that always get to me 🥰
@@MetalGuyReacts This is one of the outstanding features of PTX... the seamless way they move in and out of solos and harmonies, whether a remix, a medley, or an insane mash-up. Highly recommend their "Daft Punk" medley (1st Grammy), or any of their "Evolution of" videos for extreme examples of this talent, but virtually any PTX performance highlights their arrangement genius.
Leonard heard this before he passed and said that it was his favorite cover. When Avi (bass) has to sing, Scott (first singer) takes over the bass. Scott has a five octave range. Mitch has the hat.
@@MetalGuyReacts For seeing Kevin (Beatboxer) singing solo, you should see Mary did you know or Amazing Grace, which is my favorite song with the "new" bass Matt. And there is a live version of Halleluja where you can see the switch between Avi and Scoot singing solo/bass
@@Likr666 Amazing Grace is now one of my favorites! KO gets a real piece and as someone who's religion is close to his heart, I think it's so cool they gave that to him. Kevin is just god like!
Goosebumps and Mitch hadn’t even done his solo yet! Watching the reaction of someone who has never heard him before is always wonderful, the pure shock and enjoyment on their face. Mitch is a true treasure. It’s rare enough to find a true first tenor after puberty, but Mitch always just takes it to a new level
Not only does he have the first tenor but he brings the power that maturity has. He has breath control and the size of adult lungs. It's a killer combination that is bone rattling the first time you hear it.
Scott (tall blond and first singer0 is both tenor and baritone, and easily drops into bass whever Avi (or later Matt) needs to take the lead. One of the most incredible things about PTX is the RANGE of each singer, and how well they can fill in for and work with each other.
You will get hundreds of recommendations and descriptions from everyone but I would highly suggest you do their live version of this same song from their Christmas special. You will never doubt their voices after that. Reactors often think its autotune or heavy manipulation but when you hear them live you will understand. Their live performance in Japan at Popspring 2016 is also insanely good. Its 4 songs, 3 originals and one evolution and is well worth the watch. ❤
Or their live version of "Daft Punk." But that was recorded on somebody's cell phone and they we're not using microphones so Kevin doesn't come through as loudly as he would if they had microphones to adjust the volume with. But they sound exactly the same as they do in their video.
5 members: Avi - bass in the beenie is an opera trained basso profondo. Left and was replaced by Mat. (Who does an awsome job) Scott- blond first singer is a barritone but takes the base when Avi singes solo. Has an amazingly wide range. Kirsten- messo soprano and only woman, always sounds amazing. Mitch- contra tenor in the hat. Has an amazingly high register and can reach really high notes but still sound good in lower register Kevin - black guy who does most of the beatboxing and rythems, sings tenor at times and is an amazing cello player as well. They all sound good apart, but those harmonies are magical when they sing together. Check out sound of silence, bohemian rapsody or their daft punk medly. Love again if you want original
Excellent summary! I would add that Mitch likes to change his look. A LOT. You can pretty much tell when a video was released by Mitch’s look. But it’s always him. Avi is the only member who has left.
Thank you Thora for this breakdown and recommendations! I think their rendition of Sound of Silence will have to be added to my list of songs to react to soon!
@@MetalGuyReacts May I also recommend "Love Again"?. as he said its an original and as a big fan of EDM and good dance music you must hear it. You really can't go wrong with them. Daft punk is quite special.
I've listened to this song what must be 100 times or more. I cannot for the life of me pinpoint when Avi and Scott swap parts. Both times they swap is handled so masterfully.
It is my personal opinion that no one else should be allowed to cover this, Pentatonix has done the definitive version. Check out Aha live from Singapore.
Yes, Mitch Grassi's high notes are just insane, his range is so big, there are several videos about his range, I'd love you to react to one of those! 😊Just mind-blowing
This cover still gives me goosebumps. The video went viral in a week. It's so popular that, even if there's a storm and the show has to end early, they'll squeeze it in. PTX is unparalleled.
You did see Avi in a Home Free video and he was the bass for Pentatonix. When he sang his solo, Scott (tall blond) took over the bass line. Avi has since left Pentatonix and they have a new bass, Matt. Scott (tall blond) is a baritone with ridiculous range, Avi bass, Kirsten (rhymes with thirstin') is mezzo soprano, Mitch (with the hat) is countertenor, and Kevin the beat boxer also sings tenor. They did a live version of Hallelujah for their Christmas special ruclips.net/video/haFHrfmfHbc/видео.html

Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole! The guy with the crazy high voice is Mitch. Most people react that way to his voice, it's known as the Mitch face amongst the community. He has a 6 octave vocal range. The guy with the beanie left in 2017 and was replaced with Matt (who's birthday is today as of when im writing this!). If you want to see more songs like this one, I'd recommend their cover of Amazing Grace, and their originals Run To You and Light in the Hallway. If you want to see them cover different genres (they cover everything) I'd recommend their Daft Punk medley. It was recorded for $400 in a closet and kitchen and won them their first Grammy
Welcome to the Pentaholic family! You've just fallen into a vast rabbit hole full of awesome. Really enjoyed your reaction! As for what to watch next... Some of my favorites include: Covers: Daft Punk (1st Grammy win), Can't Hold Us, Sound of Silence, Bohemian Rhapsody, Break My Heart, New Rules + Are You That Somebody, Gold (live), Attention, Can You Feel the Love Tonight (from The Lion King), Say Something, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (2nd grammy win), My Favorite Things (from The Sound of Music), and Mad World. PTX Originals: Love Again, Can't Sleep Love, Sing, Cracked, and Water. Looking forward to your future PTX reactions
Scott (the blonde guy/ first singer) does the bass when Avi (or now Matt) sings the lead. You can watch their Hallelujah Live Performance from their Christmas special, there you can see Scott doing the bass. Also in Sound of Silence we can enjoy his deep register. If you want to see different song where Scott does the bass I would like to suggest "You're a mean one Mr. Grinch" even though it's not Christmas anymore, haha.
Matt does the bass lead on 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch', and Scott covers the bass background, just to be clear. It really shows off Matt's voice beautifully and he obviously had a lot of fun with it.
Dude. I know im a year late to the party but you chose one hell of a song to chose as a first song for this group. Watching your facial reactions was a blast to watch. ♥️
This was the first song I saw of PTX and immediately fell in love with the bass. Avi is brilliant he has had classical training as a Basso Profundo. He is their Bass but also sings the higher ranges. He and Kevin (beatboxer) shared an apartment and were the rhythm section ...magicians really lol You might like to see their journey from The Sing Off which they won...it helps to understand how they evolved. The judges named Kevin & Avi the 'Meat & Potatoes' of the group...lol would recommend 'Say Something' for another awesome performance. Kevin does play the cello and Avi does a duet with it lol....but seriously awesome
There are a few live videos, and they still sound insanely perfectly in tune with each other. There’s a live Christmas special of this one, an “Aha” live in Star Vista, and there’s a private performance of the Daft Punk medley, to name a few. You should definitely watch the official daft punk medley video first, to get the full effects, and see why they won their first Grammy for it
You had the breakdown of the group right. Kevin, the guy hitting his chest and stomping is their beat boxer/percussion and Avi, the one that you thought was the bass really is the usual bass singer. Scott, the one who started the song, takes over the bass when Avi sings lead. Mitch, the guy with the really high voice, is, to me, what allows them to have such a balanced sound. He can sing tenor or all the way up to messo-soprano. He gives the group another voice that can hit the notes that a female soprano would usually sing. Avi is no longer with them, a young man named Matt has taken over his place in the group and he's also hella talented. The one female in the group is Kirsten or Kirstie and she has a very powerful, emotional voice that didn't get to shine as much in this song. They have a rendition of "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" that is gorgeous and one of "The Sound of Music" that is also incredible. Oh, and that's their actual voices. They sound almost the same when they sing live. They really are an incredible group.
Pretty much spot on! :) Although I wouldn't say that Kirstie doesn't get to shine in this though... when I first heard this in Oct. 2016 when they released it, it was actually Kirstie's verse that gave me goosebumps. Then Mitch came in with the cherry on top of the sundae.
I never get tired of hearing PTX doing any of their songs, but Hallelujah is truly special and you recognized that immediately. Enjoy your journey with PTX. You will be richly rewarded.
I just LOVE to watch someone new hear all these voices and other sounds come forth from an amazing group of gifted humans for the first time. I also love it when I see the point when you get Mitch slapped!!! Dude, I could actually watch your mind get blown several times. If you didn't get goose bumps I would think you are dead inside. Welcome from all us Pentaholics my friend!
There are very few songs or pieces of music that can get such an immediate and real emotional reaction from me . Every time I hear Mitch’s part 🥺 every single time. Especially when he hits that ”broken “ 😮💨
Scott, the first singer, also covers the bass parts when Avi or Matt are signing. He covers the first verse on “The Sound of Silence” and its also in a very low register.
I always love when people start their PTX journey with this song and they all go through the Mitch effect. LOL. Always priceless. Scott ( the baritone) is the tall blonde who sang first and he took over the low notes when Avi (the one with the beard sang, and yes, you saw him join Home Free and he did drop it low). The one with the hat is Mitch Grassi and he has an absolutely AMAZING vocal range. He is a counter tenor but he can go low and go into the tree tops with his high head notes. He can also do whistle notes and has astonishing control. Kirstie, the female singer is a mezzo soprano and can go very high and do whistle notes as well. And last is the black guy, Kevin, who is EXTREMELY talented. He is their beatboxer, but he is also a classically trained celloist and he does do both on some of their music. He calls it celloboxing. He can also sing. Avi left the group back in 2017 and they now have a new member Matt Salle, who is just as talented as the rest of them. And you need to always remember when you listen to PTX that except for a few songs where they use the cello, and once Scott played the piano, it is all a cappella. No instruments. What you see on the videos you hear in real life, they don't use any auto-tune or anything else, just their voices and Kevin uses his whole body. Each member is extremely talented. Check out their Daft Punk which they won their first Grammy for, also "Aha" In Singapore live at the star vista. You can hear how low Avi goes and at the same time how high Mitch can go.
It's "cellist" (the O is dropped in the word for a cello player). And sometimes Kevin does actual singing, kind of a tenor, I believe. A few times, he used falsetto, like in "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)."
I listen to their music all the time, but my favorite would have to be "The Sound of Silence". For something a bit different from them, listen to "Radioactive". Kevin (beatboxer) plays the cello while still beatboxing and this piece also has Lindsay Stirling playing violin. Would also recommend "Shallow", "Little Drummer Boy" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy."
Bass: Avi Kaplan, who has his own pursuit now, does an amazing “Otherside” solo, and his duo with Peter Hollens “ Black is the colour of my true love’s hair ” is mesmerizing!
Studio version of this song is incredible as you watch beat boxing, bass, tenor, sopranos. The cross over between vocalists in multiple facets is inspired.
I'm glad this was your first exposure to the awesomeness of Pentatonix. In my opinion it's the best introduction to the group. As others have probably said, Scott (the first singer) takes over on bass when Avi (and yes, he was in Ring of Fire with Home Free) sings the lead. As you watch more Pentatonix videos, you will see a new bass, Matt, who replaced Avi when he left to pursue a solo career a few years ago. Have fun going down the rabbit hole!
You have been "Mitch slapped". I believe your face was one of the best ones at that point. He is a force of nature. Fun to see a first reaction to these guys. You will be a fan for life now. I promise.

I loved it when he heard Mitch, the best one so far lol.
An introduction to Pentatonix for you:
Scott: the tall blonde guy in the middle with the first solo.
She has the least solos of the main 3 that you'll find, but she always kills it when she does sing(examples are Say Something, Sound of Silence, Imagine, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, all of which are among their best work)
Mitch: He's the man with the amazing voice and the final solo in this song.
@@janices5389 Lindsey Stirling
Kirstin sings mezzo-soprano.
First video: "What's their names?"
Second video: *Calls them by name*
Third video: "WHAT'S UP PENTAHOLICS?!"
Vinny you are 110% correct 😂 🤘🏼
@@MetalGuyReacts just want to say thank you! Love all the reactions! Watch over reaction videos but you are my favorite! Also metal/ heavy music is the best! Who's your favorite band?
@Vinny, that just means you know he likes them! Ha
Kevin is awesome as a beatboxer, singer, cellist, and all around great person.
KO plays piano as well
Yes, and very smart. He gave up medical school for Pentonix. I think he definitely made the right decision.
He's also got perfect pitch!!!
I dunno what it is about Kevin, but it's like he has a light shining out from his face when he sings AND when he beatboxes.
Truth!
Matt being the new bass and Kevin being their percussion and beatboxing
It was the person sitting behind you singing along."
mitch is a contra tenor.
Their version of Mary Did You Know is my absolute favorite song they’ve done, christmas or otherwise. there is just something in the harmonies that always get to me 🥰
Hi Becca! The way they put this one together was so smooth! I can't wait to add in more of their tunes to react to! Thank you for watching 🤘
Ayyy, Mary Did You Know was my introduction to the group and I immediately got that album 🤣 still hooked 4 years later.
That’s the first song I’ve ever heard them do and it moved me to tears
Agree!
Hears* Mitch sing*: eyes go wide me dies of laughter I love when people hear Mitch sing and their like what? I love it

Stay safe, stay sane,Stay Strong Ukraine 🇺🇦
Mitch was singing the high notes. He has an outrageous range. He is amazing. They are all amazing but Mitch has an insane range
Man with the hat? Our angel, Mitch.
Leonard heard this before he passed and said that it was his favorite cover. When Avi (bass) has to sing, Scott (first singer) takes over the bass. Scott has a five octave range. Mitch has the hat.
You should check out their cover of Bohemian Rhapsody! It’s incredible. They also did a Daft Punk medley that they won a Grammy for
Yes bohemian rapsody and daft punk are absolutely beautiful and amazing
I'm really excited to check out their rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody! I can't wait to dive in! Thanks EmDet! 🤘🤘🤘
@@MetalGuyReacts you won’t be disappointed! Thanks!!
Mitch is nominally a contratenor, but with a 6 octave range he can sing bottom baritone as well as he can top tenor and even soprano.
Scott (tall blond and first singer0 is both tenor and baritone, and easily drops into bass whever Avi (or later Matt) needs to take the lead. One of the most incredible things about PTX is the RANGE of each singer, and how well they can fill in for and work with each other.
Their cover of “Gold” has an official video that is live
Gold is a cover and you should really take a quick listen to the original to understand what they are doing.
@@sub4rctic this is very true, please do this lol
Gold, definitely.
Great suggestion
One of my favorites! I follow the sheet music to it (their version) and I still can’t see how Mitch does that. 🤯
Agree with every word.
Thank you Tammy for the recommendations! I'm so excited to check out more of their stuff.
I was about to recommend their Christmas Special as well.
Or their live version of "Daft Punk." But that was recorded on somebody's cell phone and they we're not using microphones so Kevin doesn't come through as loudly as he would if they had microphones to adjust the volume with. But they sound exactly the same as they do in their video.
@@MetalGuyReacts yeah the fact that they still sound good on shitty smartphone videos is a testament to how good they are
5 members:
Avi - bass in the beenie is an opera trained basso profondo. Left and was replaced by Mat. (Who does an awsome job)
Scott- blond first singer is a barritone but takes the base when Avi singes solo. Has an amazingly wide range.
Kirsten- messo soprano and only woman, always sounds amazing.
Mitch- contra tenor in the hat. Has an amazingly high register and can reach really high notes but still sound good in lower register
Kevin - black guy who does most of the beatboxing and rythems, sings tenor at times and is an amazing cello player as well.
That saved me a bunch of typing. I would include "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", "Sing" and "Can't Hold Us" as great songs to react to.
@@lynn2574 Kirstie changes a lot as well
Thank you Thora for this breakdown and recommendations!
I can pinpoint it only because Scott as a bass is slightly higher and has a different quality than Avi's depth.
Wait until you hear them sing Mary Did You Know. The video especially. Moved to tears almost every time. Love them. Amazing.
Love the "Mitch Effect", lol. Welcome to the PTX Rabbithole!
Hi Lady Shar! I was definitely not prepared for that voice to come out of Mitch! So ethereal and amazing! 🤘

Can I just say Avi's note when he sings moonlight is amazing!
I always love watching somebody’s reaction to hearing Mitch for the first time. He clearly has the voice of an angel. ❤
Did you know that Avi (the bass in this video) can do polyphonic overtone singing? That’s singing two tones at the same time!
O.O that's amazing
You did see Avi with Home Free. Scott often takes over bass when the bass has a solo. It is Scott. His range is incredible.
the guy with the hat is Mitch Grassi, he's such an amazing singer and my favorite member! his voice is insane
I am always surprised by the most knowledgeable in you who are spellbound by Pentatonix..did you think no one could excel..that there was a peak and no one could go beyond your own cerebral margins. Pentatonix has stretched your imaginations and musical limits. It is beyond joy.
Yes that gentleman fills all the beat and sings the deep throb of the song.

They sing this live in their Christmas special. You’ll NEVER hear them sing off pitch in a live performance! 😊♥️
More pentatonix please. They are awesome. More more more.
Those goosebumps ... Holy Spirit.
Beautiful
Mitch has an 8 octave range! They are my favorite group! 🥰🔥🎶❤❄🤟✌🤘
You forgot to add Kevin is a talented singer as well as a beautiful cellist
Agreed but I think you meant "The Sound of Silence" 😜👍
@@doilysimpkin6972 Thank you, yes, that's exactly what I meant.
@@bill.godwin-austen I think she still shines, just not as much as she does in some of the other songs. That's just my opinion, though.

Welcome from all us Pentaholics my friend!
I always LOVE the first-time reaction when the (counter)tenor takes the fourth verse.
There are very few songs or pieces of music that can get such an immediate and real emotional reaction from me . Every time I hear Mitch’s part 🥺 every single time. Especially when he hits that ”broken “ 😮💨
I love watching people hearing Mitch Grassi for the first time XD
Mitch came out of left field and has such an amazing voice!! I wasn’t prepared for that 😆
They have terrific Christmas music as well! Mary did you know!
Scott, the first singer, also covers the bass parts when Avi or Matt are signing. He covers the first verse on “The Sound of Silence” and its also in a very low register.
Can't wait to check out Sound of Silence! Damn having to go to a 9-5 lol. Otherwise I'd just be tumbling down all their videos today 🤘🤘
So fun to see someone get Mitch face for the first time!!! Awesome
Blonde dude is baritone, hat dude is a tenor, girl is soprano, beanie dude is bass and the final dude is beatboxer that also plays cello
Amazing Grace, Bohemian Rapsody , The Sound of Silence
Individually, each person is amazing! Together... the kill it!!! From whistle notes to the deep growl, the cover it all!!!
Also I believe Kevin is doing the bass in this song.
It’s sooo cool seeing a star amongst a group among others who are great
This song never fails to give me chills
I listen to their music all the time, but my favorite would have to be "The Sound of Silence". For something a bit different from them, listen to "Radioactive". Kevin (beatboxer) plays the cello while still beatboxing and this piece also has Lindsay Stirling playing violin. Would also recommend "Shallow", "Little Drummer Boy" and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy."
The man singing bass is Avi Kapplin and his voice is stunning.
Mitch with the hat is a counter tenor, and may I say, a really impressive one at that.
If you liked Avi (the bass) I'd totally recommend his solo music! He's amazing
Mitch and Scott also have a second channel, called superfruit, they also did some amazing stuff on there :)
I promise.
Mitch really blew my mind! What a voice!!! I've always been a huge fan of tenors with sky high ranges. Geoff Tate is one of my favorites from the metal world :) Thank you for the comment Kerry! Hope you are having an awesome week!

..But be aware it was recorded on a cell phone - also you won't see Kevin because he was putting away his cello at the beginning of the song and the fan who took the vid is pretty focused on Mitch - but he's there and you will hear him. It is still an amazing live performance.

I'm sorry you hadn't heard them until 3 months ago. I'm glad you took the time to listen. Their accapella sound is outstanding. Yes, Avi has a crazy low voice, but, he has incredible range. Scott (first singer) took over while Avi was singing. Mitch, such an incredible beautiful voice. Yes, all of them could go solo, but, why? They've worked so hard to get where they are. From what I've heard, PTX got the ultimate compliment when, before he passed away, Leonard Cohen (who wrote "Hallelujah") watched and heard this video and stated that it was the best version of his song he'd ever heard. Considering that everybody and their brother has covered this song, that's a hell of a compliment.
