I used your mandala brainstorm, well, I used it a little differently than how you demonstrated you use it……….so I dotted a key chain, lol, I know, it’s a little design, but I liked the way it turned out and knew I would use this design again……got out your mandala brainstorm and dotted and recorded the paints and tools I used and now I will easily have access to recreating this design again. There’s so many rocks I have sold and loved, if I would have had your mandala brainstorm back then, I would easily be able to go back and make them again. My memory isn’t what it used to be, so this is gonna be a very handy tool for me!! Thanks JaDel….you rock and I just love you, girl❤❤❤❤
That’s awesome! The exact purpose of the brainstorms. I have pictures of all my rocks but that doesn’t help enough to recreate them. I love having a little instruction book. And you can totally use it for any size mandala that fits. This 5.5 one even has a spot for ideas. I tried really hard to leave extra space that you can dictate how to use. It’s fun. But I was good… maybe rushed it a day but that’s it 😂😂😂 I literally pulled it off the resin stand yesterday. Have you tried the new dotting tools from HDC? I’m really curious.
@@JaDeLRocks Yes I also have the new HDC's Dotting tools, they are great and especially love the extra oval tool in two sizes plus having a .5mm and 1mm tool and a tool that covers all the way through to 15.5mm is great. For those who aren't aware, there is a tool conversation chart that gives all the size equivalent to the HRC's tools.
@@Lyn4817 awesome Lyn… I’m going to have to give them a try. Diane showed me that my 2mm rod is no longer included in the HDC set of acrylic rods… my only hesitation to the new tools is that they are all the same color. I’m weird like that 😂😂😂
@@JaDeLRocks You could use heat shrink used to cover, seal and secure electrical wiring that comes in some different colours or you could always paint a band of colour on each rod. The numbering is large and so easy to read. If held right while doing tutorials it should be easy enough for everyone to see the size your using. The new HDC numbers on the tools are the size of the dotting surface in millimetres.

Thanks for the heads up on the latest mould from the HDC, which I prompty ordered and also got an extra #3 mould, which is such a cute size for a quick 'thinking of you gesture' or simply trying out a new palette and design idea. It's also a great little size to leave somewhere, just to make someone's day. Like at the hospital, Doctors or anywhere else that's not a pleasant part of our day. Just like a Dotter from Utah who made, dotted rocks and left hidden at her Radiation appointments. Sue left a decorated stone everyday she attended her appointments. I often wonder what people thought when they found Sue's gorgeous art rocks. This 5.5""rock looks gorgeous as usual.
You are so right… I have 4 of the #3s, 3 of the #4s, and 1 of the #5s and tealight. I cannot imagine finding one of Sue’s rocks… I once found a red rock that was half painted and said be kind in black sharpie. This is one of my prized possessions…. Can you imagine finding hers? I’d feel like I was stealing 😂😂😂. People can be so wonderful ♥️ I need to focus on that more. Thank you Lyn. 🤗

The waiting is the worst 😂😂😂 I waited 4 days to paint then another 3 to resin.. yesterday it came out of resin and I couldn’t wait to upload this video! I probably left fingerprints on the back 😂😂😂

If you sit it on a ruler you’ll measure 5.5” but…. If you flex a ruler over the top you’ll find a whopping 6” of paintable space.. plus a bit more if you want to wrap under towards bottom.

May I ask 1 question ? Do you mean we prepare separately 1 part Liquitex Flow Aid : 20 part water, then add less than 25% (based on the acrylic paint) of this liquid to any normal acrylic paint (1 part Liquitex mixture : 4 parts acrylic paint) ?
I mean that I mix up 1 part Flow aid to 20 parts water in my little bottle and use it to thin my paint. Let’s call that mix the “thinner.” So I use drops of the thinner into my paint to get the consistency I like. Let’s call the thinner and paint mix the “final result.” And the answer you are looking for is… be sure that the amount of “thinner” in the “final result” isn’t more than 25% of the “final result.” In other words… don’t thin it too much or it will mess up the science of the paint 😉. Gosh I hope this made sense. I’m so glad you asked this… Thank you ♥️
