hahaha! Yes! Its a lot of confusion out there, and I had to really take my time to RESEARCH the truth. I even consulted a chemist just to confirm putting this information out there.
Hi Karen, I really appreciate your help. I read that essential oils like rosemary, peppermint & lavendar are good for encouraging hair growth. What are your thoughts on them? Thank you!
Bayyybayyyyy!! I NEVER stopped greasing my scalp. I absolutely love hair grease and currently have about 8 doggone jars of Blue Magic grease because I just KNEW, the price was getting ready to go up because everybody started back using it 😆
Thank you for this video! I knew about most of the oils. I was happily surprised about hair grease. We all grew up having our scalps greased. It may time to return to our traditional ways. 🥰
I have been using Royal Crown for years. It works for me. I use it very lightly on my scalp. I have tried all of the new products and always return to Royal Crown😊
I was surprised too re hairgrease. However, when Curlbox was still around they had Cream of Nature products and included was a small jar of hairgrease. It kind of shocked me because as a natural we were told not to use hair grease. Sooo now thanks to you we know we can.❤
I am 59. My chemical-process free hair is about 40/60 gray and just 3" short of my waist. I do my own hair because the stylists in my area seem to be more skilled at working with artificial hair (weaves/sew-in's, chemically altered hair) and very little knowledge/experience working with Black hair longer than your neck. I was raised on Ultra Sheen (the green one for xtra dry hair) and I swear by it to this day - especially in the warmer/humid months (I live in Michigan) when any form of heat styling is a waste of time. Thanks so much for the information on gray hair. I have also used Matrix and Joico purple shampoos with great results.
I used Joice and Matrix in the hair salon. Excellent products. Now I certainly remember the Ulta Sheen from back in the day --I even remember the SMELL. 😂 It certainly keep the hair soft and nourished and locked in moisture.
I had kinky hair growing up as a white girl. I hated being different. It would be so nice to have to the help you give here. My hair might have looked good lol 😆
Thank you for this information. It explains several things. My mother used grease on my hair growing up because I pretty much lived in a pool and the chlorine dried out my hair. I haven't used grease for more than 15+ years and my hair is fine, long, softer than cotton and curls up with the mention of any moisture. With YOUR help I will FINALLY learn what to do with my hair. THANK YOU!!❤️👍
I don't have an oily scalp or skin for that matter. I haven't oiled my scalp in 30 years however I do put a moisturizing oil on my hair. After I stopped oiling and grease my scalp my hair started to grow longer and faster
🙌🏾. I will use it to seal in moisture sometimes but it doesn't quite so well with my wash n go. I'm not a big oil on the scalp type of girl but I remember my mom used to slap a ton of grease on our hair and scalp back in day! 😂
I was dealing with hair dryness now that I have more gray hair. I tried all hair grease and oils and I found that grape seed oil have done wonders for my hair it made it manageable and I noticed that my hair is super soft especially my ends. My hair was hard to keep moisturized.
I’m so happy to have learned your background. The science of it all is truly the secret🎉thank you Karen.grateful for your channel. Please keep content coming!

Hello Karen! I just recently found your channel and I'm so glad I did! I have a head full of gray hair and it is kind of problematic. I have been using your DIY moisturizer and it has been working very well for me. I had to add a little more glycerin than you did though. What I would like to ask you about is seborrheic dermatitis. I developed a problem with it when I was "slugging" my hair. If you haven't heard of this, it is putting on a deep conditioner and going over it with oil. Leave it on under a dryer for 30 minutes then wash thoroughly and follow with a conditioner, rinse and style. I used this method for several months and then I started getting scaly dandruff patches on my scalp. I thought it was just dandruff at first - something I've never had a problem with - but it kept getting worse. I stoped slugging and started using a tar shampoo to treat it. I used the shampoo for close to a year and am now at the point where I don't need it but I still use aloe vera mixed with tea tree oil the night before I wash my hair. I've been washing weekly. My entire life I have never oiled my scalp. My mother used to press my hair when I was in school and I washed once a month. She also used the Lustrasilk press maybe every 3 or 4 months. For the last 20? or so years I have been natural and in the last maybe 10 years I have been trying methods and mixtures I have seen on RUclips. Some were OK, most weren't, but slugging was the only thing that created a problem. I stopped experimenting and right now I basically wash with black soap from Ghana and Castile shampoo, deep condition, and oil my hair, not scalp, with a mixture of light oils and braid it up. Since I CAN'T oil my scalp, and everything recommended for hair growth IS an oil, I was hoping you could recommend something that ISN'T an oil that promotes hair growth. The dermatitis did cause some hair loss at my hairline, at the nape on the right side. The right side of my hair is also thinner than the left. I am 73 years old , active and healthy and most gladly past menopause. Do you have any suggestions?
Hi Ms Patricia! Thank you so much for your comment, and thank you for teaching me about 'slugging'. You certainly taught me something NEW! 😜. Thank you Karen. This is my first time watching your videos. Since menopause. my hair has been out of control. I don't care how many times I comb my hair it is still the same old song. Is there anything that I can use to bring it under control?
I can't wait for part two of this series....I have fine hair and even though I use a shampoo brush for my scalp ( And aloe vera juice as a rinse twice a month) there is still some itchiness .. any recommendations?
I used to use fresh aloe vera and it itched my Scalp as well. I still use it but let it soak for at least 30 hours to get that "itchy poison " stuff. Big difference no more itching!
Yes! Rosemary oil is excellent for growth! This video was more so about carrier oils. I did talk about Rosemary in the video I just posted actually ruclips.net/video/HtEzyOu1DPQ/видео.html
Hey there! Thank you so much!! Actually … I don’t really prioritize my skin 🤨 I use something over the counter - Aveeno I believe 🤷🏾♀️ I do drink a lot of water 💦 so that helps. But honestly I’ve always had pretty good skin
Castor oil is very tough on my brittle hair. So I use it in smaller amounts with coconut oil. My hair is going through menopause so it seems nothing helps it externally..😢. Working from the inside out now.
Hello Yolanda! I typically get the 32oz size but Amazon is currently out of it, but here's the gallon size if you want bulk ruclips.net/video/y-WwFVYyJMM/видео.html

I can't wait for part two of this series....I have fine hair and even though I use a shampoo brush for my scalp ( And aloe vera juice as a rinse twice a month) there is still some itchiness .. any recommendations?
Hi Cheryl! Do you apply anything to you scalp at all?
I used to use fresh aloe vera and it itched my Scalp as well. I still use it but let it soak for at least 30 hours to get that "itchy poison " stuff. Big difference no more itching!
What about Rosemary oil? I read it is good for the scalp for hair growth and inflammation.
Yes! Rosemary oil is excellent for growth! This video was more so about carrier oils. I did talk about Rosemary in the video I just posted actually ruclips.net/video/HtEzyOu1DPQ/видео.html
Great information. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! 💜
Your facial skin looks beautiful. If you please, what products do you use on your face?
YES! That's the best way to go! Grow Differently! Not sure if you've seen this or not: ruclips.net/video/AW1MTpD4jMo/видео.html
Where'd you get that big bottle of Castor Oil 😲⁉️
Hello Yolanda! I typically get the 32oz size but Amazon is currently out of it, but here's the gallon size if you want bulk ruclips.net/video/y-WwFVYyJMM/видео.html
What about Avocado oil?
What about Grapeseed Oil ?
I've got low porosity natural grey hair, so no butters...
Great video! Looking forward to part 2. You Rock! Thx!
I will rock on! LOL! Thanks a bunch!
This was a very informative video. Thank you for providing this information.
You are very welcome Terrell! Glad you found it helpful!
@@KarenofCurlHouse I have fine, high porosity hair. The high porosity is from birth, not chemical damage. How do I keep my hair moisturized throughout the day, after applying the initial moisturizing products, in the morning? I hope my question is not confusing.
Thank you for any suggestions you may be able to provide.
How do you find out the comedegenic rate???
Hey Lynn! I just googled it. Just goggle comedogenic rating for hair oils or oils and you will see several sites that provide this information.
Great content! Thank you, I'm learning from your channel! 😊❤
Awesome! My mission has been accomplished! By all means, let me know if there is anything else you would like to learn that you don't see on my channel. Always looking for more content!

Thank you so much Chanel! I appreciate it!
Wow, how i avoided hair grease🙄
What about ghee, I use it and it is the only thing that softens and not cause interactions with my seborrheic and give me nutrients.
