Hi Dale, you really make my day when you post your videos. I like the way you modify recipes to make them so you will like them, example, orange peel, yellow raisins etcetera. I also like the way you evaluate a recipe like when you said the orange extract is what gives the bread the orange flavor, or if something isn't necessarily needed. But the best part is the glorious final product-- as usual you have created another YUMMIE masterpiece. This certainly would make a great holiday gift or great addition to your holiday feast. Thank you so much. Bye :) P.s. Martha Stewart versus you, you win hands down !
Thank you Dale for another delightful video. What a beauty! I have seen Martha's video...but think you give her a run for the money, you're just as talented a Baker! I will have to make one of these for the holidays. Best wishes.
Christmas in a paper wrapper! The main reasons I want to make this are the smell and the visual of the interior - the great taste would just be a bonus. I've never seen bread like this, but when you sliced it all I could think of was "old fashioned Christmas"!! Have to add that I looked up panettone online thinking maybe I could buy one, but after seeing the pictures, I just don't think it would be the same as your homemade.🎄😊
Thank you Bonnie most of the the commercially made ones that I've had are quite good I am curious as to why they are still supposed to be fresh months later though LOL. Hope you give it a try. The only added suggestion that I would make is once it comes back out of the fridge leave it at room temperature no matter how long it takes until it is soft and easy to work with again before you put it in the paper to do it's last rise. Time is always different depending on your room temperature. Keeping up with the Italian Christmas theme I'm just finishing a video on making Pandoro.
Absolutely a gorgeous panettone, Dale. I’ve never attempted one, but yours turned out wonderfully. I’ve seen Martha’s episode doing these. I really love panettone.
Hi Dale and happy Friday! This is so beautiful! I never had Panettone. I've seen it at several stores but just never bought it. This would make a beautiful gift to give for Christmas! You did an excellent job. Tfs and sending Cali love. :)
Love this, especially during the holiday season. There is another one called Gubana which is very hard to find. Gubana is a traditional fruit and nut filled cake from Friuli in Northern Italy and is related to strudel, babka, and a host of other Slavic, Czech, and other Eastern European pastries with names like presnitz, putitza, and povetitza. I would love it if one day if you could make that. Thanks Dale for another great recipe.
Hi, looks fantastic Dale! You are a true culinary artist! Thank you for sharing this. What a great gift idea! You're right; think the ones you purchase may have some kind of preservative in it. I imagine this would freeze well. Yvonne🍞
this is one of my favorite breads. I remember the first one i ever saw and tried was when i had moved up north to Ohio and i thought to my self ..where have you been all my life.. lol i have thought about making one but i just a soon buy one then make it i think i would come out cheaper too. lol but your came out beautifully and looks so yummy. thanks so much for making this. Hugs to you and Angel and you both have a Wonderful Holiday.
By the way Dale...did the paper hold up well during baking? Also did the bottom seem to brown too much? It seems whenever I bake something in a liner the bottom and side browns more than I care for it to. As I said before...I love Panettone and I won't buy the pan because I can't see using valuable cabinet/storage space for something I will use only once or twice a year. LoL
Hi Dale, thanks for sharing this recipe/video. The bread looks delicious. I want to be on your Christmas list LOL. Wishing you and Angel a wonderful weekend.
Wow! Dale, that was great my family came over from Italy and open an Italian Bakery in New Jersey and this was very popular during the Christmas Holiday. Some people make the mistake and call it Fruit Cake but there's a difference. And those that called it Fruit Cake more than once, well, let just say they went swimming with the Fish..lol My Mom always said Panettone is created out of love, and my Dad always said Fruit Cake was created for doorstops.
Wonderful to watch, but wish I could smell it baking too! Dale, I've recently found you, and have subscribed! I sent your link to my sister also. You so could be our father's twin! Well, I'm thinking he is a good deal older..... He too gardens, likes the outdoors, and loves the birds.., he has canned and put up preserves, cooks, and is an excellent baker! He like yourself, has a calming and comforting way about him. Your channel is a wonderful blessing and a documented gift to us! lol.... I'm sure I will think of you when my dad arrives with his fresh Parker House rolls for our Thanksgiving dinner! We live in the Chicagoland area of the States....the rolls are made with his grandmother's recipe. I had never met her, but am told by many, that she was German/French and baked nonstop! 🙏❤️
Gosh I haven't had pannetone since I was a kid and It looks delicious. I don't recall noticing in the supermarket here, but it may be just that I wasn't looking for it. Will have to pay attention :-)
Help. My dough always comes out hard as a rock. I never get the sticky dough as seen here. I live in the desert of Arizona. Could the environment have anything to do with this? It’s dry here. Perhaps I need more water in the starter. Any suggestions
I will send you a bag of pearl sugar it is from Belgium(they use it to make Les gauffres de Liège) they are readylly available near my home and i have bought extra the last time, i will send it to you to Poste Restante at the Post Office of your island one of the two bye and i will make this delicaty....bye R
My favourite Christmas purchase. Have been eating these for about 40 years.
Cathy Gainge One whiff of panettone, and it’s Christmas.
Thank you Cathy.
Re watching this video from last year....will bake this beauty tomorrow. Thank you Dale.
Hope you enjoy I was surprised how good it is.
Was introduced to Panettone @ a Christmas work lunching about 10 years ago....discovered I really like Panettone!!
Me too what's not to like as they say. LOL

Yes I think it would freeze very well and like the comedian said I'm not eating anything that is going to be fresh long after I'm gone LOL.

@@222NancyG I thought it held up very well and there didn't seem to be any problem with it scorching or anything like that.

Never tried it I dont think. My mother used to make a Christmas pudding would keep for years lol. Must have been the brandy she put in.
Nothing like a well aged pudding LOL
Help. My dough always comes out hard as a rock. I never get the sticky dough as seen here. I live in the desert of Arizona. Could the environment have anything to do with this? It’s dry here. Perhaps I need more water in the starter. Any suggestions
Not 100% sure but it sounds like a hydration issue either use less flour or more liquid.
Making this but waiting on the liners going to make mine individuales. I am only one that eats it.
Great Gina let me know how that turns out.
I love your videos. Are you on Instagram?
Thank you Not really I have an account but don't use it .
It's pretty good with powder sugar sprinkled on it and dip it in some Espresso.
That sounds good to me too.
I will send you a bag of pearl sugar it is from Belgium(they use it to make Les gauffres de Liège) they are readylly available near my home and i have bought extra the last time, i will send it to you to Poste Restante at the Post Office of your island one of the two bye and i will make this delicaty....bye R
