- Part 2 of my documentary on the history of motorcycle racing. In this chapter I'm talking about vintage motorcycle technology and how it evolved over time. Simple stiff bicycle frames, with spoon brakes, was replaced by duplex cradle frames with leading link front end, some with plunger suspension in the back and drum brakes.
Motorcycle chassis design always was a key element of motorcycle technology, and especially for racing in the Isle of Man TT. Manufacturers and innovators competed with their own tire, suspension, frame and brake design. Innovations during this era includes:
Trailing link front suspension
Leading link front end
Girder fork
Telescopic suspension
Disc brakes
Duplex cradle frame
Still waiting for the rest of the series......... Very well done. Need more
this deserves a LOT more views
This is an outstanding video series. It's entertaining and very informative. Similar to bicycles in their beautiful simplicity, motorcycles are just the next step up in complexity so the advancing technology is not difficult to comprehend. Thanks for sharing some of how all that happens. Good stuff on the world's greatest invention!
Waiting on part 3. This is an amazing thing you are doing. 👍🏽
when part 3 ???
Still waiting
When Is part three being released? This is really well done I appreciate the hard work
Damien....Part 3 will be released after part 2 and before part 4.... Stay Tuned.
@@slit4659 Was part 1 released yet? I know that sometimes documentaries start with part 2 when being parted up into parts, depending on how may parts it gets parted into.
In part, it’s partly due to the risk one runs when parting out videos into parts, at least in these parts.
@@jorhay1 Got it.. well partly.
I Guess something must have happened...And there Will be no more
SUCH a great series. I love this stuff.
Outstanding technical and historic information, never would have thought disc brake experimentation went back that far with motorcycles. Looking forward to part 3.

Well researched and interesting series so far. Enjoying it very much; would love to see part 3, so have subbed you. Keep on keeping on.
Great stuff 👍 Especially liked the animated diagrams showing the flaws of particular suspensions.
Wow, this is an excellent series. It's got good camera work, location shooting and historical footage combined with actual informative content. You must have put a ton of work into this!
Looking forward to part 3.
Very interesting and well done. I'm looking forward to more. I'm hoping to hear something about Paul Bigsby. Before ushering in the modern electric guitar the man was a pattern maker work on improving motorcycle engines. First with Indian band then with Crocker.
Is Part 3 available or was the rest of the project cancelled? The first 2 parts were interesting, if the project was aborted it would be a shame! :)
Hi Mike..are you planning on making rest part of this series? much appreciate the effort you put and please continue it.
Give this man a book deal
Great done well thanks dude

I think you forgot the Moto Guzzi in this chapter, if I remember correctly they developed their rear suspension in 1935 for racing and was the first to offer it to standard road bikes.

What's happened to parts, 3, 4 & 5?
I’d think you’d have a documentary done before you start releasing it. Say 1-7 -pl think it’s done and go on to something else. Just a thought. Ty for an interesting video.
Where’s part 3 bro??
Where's the part 3?? It's been 3yrs already and still don't have a part 3
Are you still working on this docu?? I enjoyed the first two parts very much!

Here we go.
No no.. it's not a part anymore..it will be season 3 from now on..and Netflix will release it..
Thank you..
Hey mike! Where’s the other 3 parts?
Tack👍
Sadly, it doesn't look like there will be a Part 3 or any others.
This is based on the fact that Mike does not seem to have replied to any of the people that have asked as to when he will release them and the fact that he has posted more than 25 other videos since Part 2.
It's a shame as it was both very interesting and very well done.
When will part 3 come?
So where the rest ?
Oh no! No part 3+???
is the series discontinued?
It's 2022 bro, where's the next episode ?
Yoo where's part 3?
No part 3, 4 and 5?🤔
So I guess part 3 is no more then
Part 3?
Nimbus came out with Telescopic forks a year before BMW
Dunlop did not invent the pneumatic tyre, that particular honour goes to another Scot,William Thomson of Stonehaven.
Ok so where is part 3 and the rest??
