Thank you for your question. When we created this product, we considered using a low-thread-count fabric. It was less expensive but gave a stringy, fringe appearance. Instead, we chose a high thread count, more expensive fabric to make Chenille By The Inch. It makes a beautiful-velvet look faux chenille. If you just wash instead of using the brush to separate the threads, the chenille will ruffle. Let me know if you have other questions.

Why wouldn't you just wash it to bring out the fluff?
