AKANE provides the maximum effect with the smallest drum kit. Besides, she is said to be the happiest drummer because she always has a smile on her face.

Band Maid should be a lot more popular . In 50 years people will say just how incredible they are .

Usually Akane plans out her solos and of course her drum Parts of songs to the point of writing everything out. This is the first time she did a solo completely improvised.
I love that Akane just uses a "Standard Kit". It harkens back to the days when she had to haul her kit to the gig and set it all up by herself. I am reminded that I heard one drummer say that session drummers should get used to playing a standard studio drum set-up so you just adjust your stool and play, rather than mucking about with the studio's kit. Obviously, if you're huge rock star you can just have your drum tech haul your gigantic rig into the studio, set it up, and have it "ready-to-roll" when your chauffer drops you off at the studio.
Band-Maid has a dedicated studio/practice room with Akane's drum set all ready to go. The other members will get in costume and perform "solo" for the fan club website videos, and Akane is usually the one behind the camera.
I am always amazed at her akill and dexterity. But let's not forget that beautiful smile she has.

No, *Akane* is using it for her next set of drum sticks. 🍌
She has the power and a sense of timing that eludes a lot of drummers. Add to that her flare for composition and general musical awareness. Akane is the perfect storm along with her band mates.
Akane is always great and always has a smile on her face, but you might want to take a look at Freedom live and From Now On MV.

The final edited version of her solo for the DVD shows more of her footwork than this does. She's so good. 😁

I love the way she seems to start by vibing out on the natural slapback of the arena. She must have caught this in sound check when it was more obvious.

The role of Akane's drums in Kanami's songwriting is, in my opinion, a revolution against conventional rock music. I think this is one of the characteristics of BAND-MAID's unique sound. (Kanami is the composer of BAND-MAID.)
Another characteristic of BAND-MAID's sound is that its varied drumming is strongly connected to the development of the lyrics.
Listening to BAND-MAID's diverse songs with attention to Akane's drumming, the drums in other rock music songs sound monotonous and boring. This is not to say about the drummer's playing technique.
I want you to listen to the drums in the song, not just the drum solo.

Thanks for the reaction. You should check out the instrumental, From Now On, where her drumming is creative and lyrical. I really feel the close friendship between her and Kanami, the lead guitar. They are often playing a sort of lead duet. Many drummers have great chops but few adapt to the song and their bandmates as well as Akane.
