2Na2SO3 + 4AgNO3 --> 2Ag + Ag2SO4 + SO2 + 4NaNO3 This can be also done, but make sure to heat test tube without boiling the solution... This is reaction for identifying SO3 2- ions in the solution :)
Yes and yes. But the last is depending on the air quality where you live since the silver will tarnish from nitrate compounds from cars and such so if you life close to a trafficated road or in the middle of a a city the tarnish will get faster then if you would live at a calm riverside in the middle of nowhere. I might ad though that the tarnish of the mirror in the middle of a city/trafficated road won't exactly happen over the night it will take time but it will happen sooner or later depending on the air.
75 cc from 0.8M of KOH or NaOH ? Nice video... How many cc finally used about Ammonia? 5 cc when you added Ammonia to Silver SOlution, then when you added OH- how many ?

This guys is soo cute! He has that look in his face, almost as if thinking he is making something wrong!
I used NaOH in my lab exam yesterday... got the siver mirror for Benzaldehyde.
I can't tell which one is more fascinating: the reaction itself or the guy who is doing it while he reminds me of Jeff Daniels in Dumb n Dumber.
In the experiment silver mirror is created, it's also called the silver mirror experiment. Why would you call it silver glass?
what does he say at 1:07? ___ _____ ammonia?
Nice video, can this process be used to coat a telescope mirror?
Question: Will there be any difference if I put the Potassium Hydroxide to the Silver Nitrate solution first, then the Ammonia?
Really neat! Can I make a telescope mirror with that or will it tarnish?

can this be sprayed to achieve the same results?
somehow, I remember something like this being done for CRTs.
can you tell me what are the products used beyond the silver nitrate?
Nice explained. Thank you.
Can't you demonstrate reactions in videos or description itself?
Can we put this silver mirror liquid on stainless steel bottles?
cool! now.... how do we collect that valuable silver....ahum I mean how do we clean the flask sir?
science is awsome
can we use coke or sugary drinks in this test?
could this work to mirror finish plastic ie a vinyl record?
Interesting! Nice video!
hey, could you please, tell me what is the concentration of the silver nitrate solution?
it might be a little late but typically 5% AgNO3
personal preference
75 cc from 0.8M of KOH or NaOH ? Nice video...
How expensive are the ingredients to make the final solution?
Hello friends can someone please give the formulas and measures or subtitling the video since i don't speak english thanks
thank you regards.
I like how he wears gloves. You'll spend ~$200 for lab grade chemicals. +$50 for beakers, etc. $1000 for a fume hood.
we've done this also i think.. :)
they're the same
no more then what you flushed down it this morning.
the tital should be called silver glass
its like chrome paint :D
