I worked in a mirror factory. After the silver is sprayed on the copper gets sprayed on. Then it goes through a short oven. Then it goes between 2 rollers that roll on a layer of paint. Usually blue. Then hits a sensor and shoots through a curtain of paint. Usually Grey. Then through a long line of ovens. I worked in the paint room at Arch Mirror North in Bettendorf, Iowa.
If it receives 2 layers of paint (blue and grey) how come the surface is not covered by those layers? How does the paint become "invisible" letting the reflective silver plating show through?
@@kb8077 the silver goes on first, then copper. Then it goes through a short oven, burners on top of oven. Then the paint roller of blue. Then paint curtain. Of course these colors can change. Scrape the back of a mirror and look through a magnifyer.
Great info, very detailed but understandable. I had always wondered about the history of the modern mirror and how they are manufactured. I wonder no more. Thank you.

I find it extremely cool. I have some idea's with mirror's I would like to try. Now that I know there are people who can cut it into the dimensions I want. The ideas are much more realistic.

A few years ago my kids father brought me a full body size mirror form a house he was remodeling. ( the mirror was going in the trash anyway) I had horrible nightmares for the three nights the thing was in my room. On the final night I woke up from the nightmare and looked in the mirror only to see like I was looking through a door that lead to some type of dining room... I got up and took that thing to the trash lol
I still don’t understand how copper and silver once gone through the oven and sprayed with water would make a mirror. I’ll be visiting this video a lot.
Thanks, something to reflect on...
Good one
I sea what you did there
Lmfaooo

I've never thought of this process until today.
Now a 67 year old knows the secret...👍
Thanks for clearing up that...😎
" A layer of copper is sprayed to rinse of any excess copper " ??

Good information, but can't help but be distracted by the narrator's weird unhuman emphasis with words.

India has millions of these types of videos and web articles and you can spot them by this broken English.

Can someone tell me how many times he said ‘mirror’?
Around 63 times, got bored early on and saw this comment, the only reason I continued to watch this video was to count how many times he said it lol
Indeed. Mirra mirra mirra
such a lengthy process for them to be so cheap. my favorite mirror was like $10. 50in by 12in from Target years ago, with a nice white border
