I’d read somewhere that the sugar industry used to release some bogus studies or information. Not to conclusively say sweeteners were definitely bad, but to cause doubt and muddy the waters.
I’ve probably consumed 100 lbs of the stuff. I know of no known side effects that I’ve suffered. Probably 10-20 packets a day. To me, it has no aftertaste. I’m not giving any kind of endorsement, just stating my experience. Probably not ideal, but it’s kept me from eating a lot of sugar. Stevia causes me awful intestinal upset.

I use aspartame in my coffee and sugar free popsicles and I only drink root beer once in a while, but it has sugar usually.
