- Mercedes Radiator Coolant Flush DIY iRepair Autos
A coolant flush is a process of draining the vehicle's old coolant and running clean water through the system to clear it out. Removing dirt, rust, sludge, and another sedative is an integral part of keeping your vehicle's cooling system doing its job right!
Legend running down to the shop and going to do with my engine oil change later today. Appreciation for your clip thanks.
Thank you for the video. Also funny how you played the bit back in reverse to show that you closed the valve, but forgot to film it :D
hey brother I'm an automotive tec 30+ years. I quit 20 years ago now work in Oil field your knowledge is great I love my wife gl450 it needs a little TLC now and then! thank you for sharing your knowledge. Blessing to you in 2024
I’m glad to be of service! Happy new year!
You didn’t show you filling the coolant, the coolant is supposed to be blue and it seems like you put generic regular coolant in there?? The blue coolant is used in BMW and Mercedes it is different from regular coolant as it has a lubricant in it for the water pump, it’s more expensive but it is better. It would be nice to list the tools and supplies needed as well. What island are you from Bredren?
Man I cannot stress how helpful you are I’m trying to be the best kompressor enthusiast I can be but it gets hard but you are the solution to that
Thanks iRepair Autos man I watched this video over and over I think yours is the best.
Thank you so much for this informative video, I love it how you showed exact location with great video shots, makes the difference. God bless you
I strongly recommend to add distilled water and flush many times till clear fluid. Then add new coolant. Change the drain plug it’s cheap.
Video shows green coolant, I'm pretty sure that all Mercedes Benz use either a peach colored coolant like Zerex G-05 or a blue coolant from Mercedes or Zerex G48. Very important to use the right coolant, for pH balance and anti corrosion.
I have that problem with my SLK now
thank you so much i’ve been stumped a couple times with my slk kompressor but u help out a lot
awesome dude.. i’m gunna try this now on my ride. i’ve watched this video 3 times already. very helpful, thanks
What size hose did you use to drain the coolant ?
nonsens! about 3 litres remained in the system
Keith so grateful for you myman so grateful!
Thank you
Thanks for the video. Great help
Do you need to run the car for a few seconds when you put the water in to clean it out fully?
a big fan of your videos keith i have liked and have subscribed!! you're helping me keep my wife's paid off ML350 running safely and smoothly
Good reviews thanks
Thanks
tanks i was in middle of no where to do this and did with my old school you confirm that i did right ;
How do you know all the air is out of the system without using a purge system tool to remove it?
I really appreciate the videos. This flush looks easier than I thought. BTW, did you use Mercedes coolant or something else?
Totally replaced that green stuff for Mercedes branded coolant. Thanks for watching and the kind words.
You are awesome! Thanks!
Thank you 👍
Mekanik indonesia gak ada mungkin yg bisa kasih tutorial sperti ini, khusus nya mobil mercy
Just wondering. Why is your coolant green? I thought mercedes is BLUE coolant?
the engine block is going to have a drain plug on both left side and right side as well
Do a video.because a lot of people miss a lot.there is an ingine drain as well
Does anybody know how to work the factory RES. I have the 2007 gl450. I think i watched every video you have and a couple other people. I wanna use the av in and out. But it only plays movies. Mercedes benz dealer ship has it all figuired out how to get every dollar you i own. Even if nobody has the answers. I wanna tell you how much i appreciate the camera view step by step instructions. Basically owning Mercedes for dummies lol. Thank you
Do you live the cap uoncovered and engine running while bubbles coming out?
I read in a manual I bought for a mercedes that you're supposed to use a special vacuum pump with an air compressor to force the air out of the system while adding coolant. Idk if that is necessary or not. Most of the cars I've worked on bleed themselves either with or without the radiator cap on.
special pumps are not necessary as long as you do what you said.
@@iRepairAutos Thanks
My e500 spots coolant out should I bleed with cap on or off with heat on low
Nice video brother.. do you have the diagram of the ignition coil so I know which one to change
What's the year and model?
2009 E350
I have a misfire in cylinder 2&5
@@dream_chaser9014 I had a misfire that was intermittent, so I replaced all eight coils, cost under $30 each and easy to do, car runs like a top now, glad I didn't waste time just doing one or two.
Is there any water left in the engine when we drain the water?
What’s that you say we have to squeeze at the end? Can you please clarify? Thank you.
Can you used a flush cleaner by Prestone before replacing the coolant on a MB e350 4matic?
thanks bro.
Would you suggest changing the hoses, since the coolant is temporarily empty? My CL550 is 14 years old.
Whats the diameter of the drain nipple?
Hi, can you please tell me where is the block coolant flush plug( crankcase block) in w204 m271 engine. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I got green coolant in my Mercedes. Can I mix Prestone with it? Apparently its universal
Do not mix them regardless of what the bottle says. If green it’s wrong - it needs to be drained out, then you need to flush with 2 gallons of distilled water (do not use a garden hose) finally refill with MB coolant.
I was thinking of doing this because I'm about to change my thermostat anyway. But what you mean by this is not a complete flush? In the beginning of the video
You're right, a complete flush includes hooking up an evacuator and sucking all the coolant out of the system including the engine, the hoses, the radiator, etc. then filling it back (even the air is sucked out) Does that help?
Very Very Helpfull :)
Buenas Tardes,
Del minuto 4:17 al 5:17 habla de las burbujas que se pueden formar. Pero no entendi la explicacion de que se hace para que no se formen. Alguien me puede explicar, porfavor.
Gracias,
Juan
One question, did you have to remove any bottom pan that may have been blocking access to the red drain cap, also would it make any difference because I have c300 2011, thanks
how many different type of coolant does Mercedes carry? my low coolant light came on and I order the coolant it turns out to be blue. the coolant in my tanks is looks orange to me. when I do research pink and yellow comes up a lot. so which is it? anyone know? I just need to top it off by a quart o
Go with what's in the vehicle now. You run into issues of clogging when you mix the various types. If you don't mix then you're good.
There seem to be only 2 type of Genuine Mercedes Coolant that they produce at the moment
Blue (BQ 1 03 0004) and Pink (BQ 1 03 0005) - some sellers called them Red
I don't know what yellow is, maybe they used it long time ago? but not in current models, for at least 15 years or so.
I heard Zerex (by Valvoline) was the OEM manufacturer for Mercedes (at least in USA, may not be in Europe)
Zerex in North America is the supplier to many European car makers. Mercedes Benz at one time used G48 in North America from 2011-2013. G40 is the violet coolant from 2014 and up. In Europe, the largest supplier to European carmakers is BASF. BASF's aftermarket coolant brand is called Glysantin. Hence the G in front of the number.
What kind of coolant did you use brother ?
I tried to remove the radiator drain plug but it broke. I drilled it and removed it. When I replaced it with a new drain plug, water was leaking from the litlle black hose next to the red drain plug, I assume I damaged the threads. What can I do to fix the problem?
Hey man if I were you. I would take it to a mechanic do your research on the places. There are good honest shops out there that take care of your car and you can save your money. I'm not to sure if this guy is going to reply to you he hasn't to a lot of people when they asked.
You have to be really careful when removing anything in your car. If you are very gentle with it and kind. It will be your good friend. If you are rough and mean it will make sure you learn your lesson in life.
Sometimes you have to be a little bit rough when it comes down to removing certain things in your car. But that's like a little bit.
Sometimes you can get blessed with a really kind person that can teach you in person how to do it.
Stuff like that I would leave it alone unless if someone taught me. And I am confident enough to know what I am doing.
If you break more things it can lead to serious problems.
Mercedes are meant to last if you take good care of it but if you don't know what your doing. Don't touch it!
Can you use regular coolant or does it have to be the blue kind?
The collant must meet MB325.0 norm. Check the label. I wouldn't use the regular green stuff.
What diameter size hose did you use?
Is it same for e250d
Don't think your should be using the green stuff in a Mercedes engine, either the blue Peak or the Gold G05
My coolant is orange on my R350
You have to stick with that type, you cannot mix them.
@@iRepairAutos do a video on how to change a AC compressor
Who owns a ML 😂
for a brief second, I thought it was 50 cent teaching me how to change my coolant...
Liquid should be blue yikes
What about coolant in the heater?
Ok. Yes. There is coolant there as well. It comes all from the same source. It's flushed through.
Suwi oli mersedes a140
Sedative...?? Or sediment??? The sedatives you can send them to me Rasta... Yah mon....
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you
