Good news for CO2 is that as soon as the surface temperature reaches -50C there will be no CO2 in the atmosphere, it will all be snow on the ground. At -183C the oxygen and nitrogen will start to condense out as well, so the only life left will be the stuff at the deep ocean hydrothermal vents, who did not notice any of the above stuff anyway, and the ice layer that is the ocean surface will protect them for millennia as well.

Surely the moon wouldn't disappear much before the sun would as it would still take the last light 8mins to come from the sun, reflect off the moon and arrive at earth?
Considering how being on the surface of Mars would result in a lethal amount of radiation from the Sun, some astronomers aren't sure we are really in the Sun's habitable zone, but are surviving because of our atmosphere and magnetic field instead
Ig u don't understand what does habitable zone mean a habitable zone is a zone of star in which we neither too near to star making it too hard too live neither we are too far making it too cold so in the habitable zone the temp is just right
Habitable zones are more complicated than that. I worked in a planetarium teaching people about possibility of life on other planets for years, so I’m pretty sure I know what I’m talking about
@@GaryLiseo so can u once google what are habitable zones and then define habitable zone in your words cause what did u wrote is not making sense to me
I'm not arguing that one definition of a habitable zone is the distance from a star where liquid water could exist on a planet. I'm merely pointing out that it is not the end-all-be-all for life on planets. I also neglect to see how Google makes someone an expert on any given topic through a simple search
To clarify my stance, I'm going with the definition of habitable zones being a range of space from a star where a planet is neither too close nor too far for life to exist because of radiation and solar energy. In that regard, we would be in the Sun's deadly radiation zone seeing as planets like Mars, which is farther from the Sun than we are, is too close to not have lethal levels of solar radiation

I feel like it'd take the moon just as long if not longer (than the sun) to stop emitting light. Just cause the light the moon emits is being relected, doesn't mean the light wouldn't have to travel
Yes, it's how long it takes light from the Sun to reach Earth, PLUS 1.3 seconds. If it happens right now (when one can see the Moon and the Sun at the same time), the moon would disappear a second after the Sun does. However, the Moon REFLECTS light, it doesn't emit it. Emitting it would require geologic activity that it doesn't currently have.
First off, cool episode. Second off, not how orbital mechanics works. When discussing the new orbit of earth, you forgot to consider that earth still retains the same momentum that it had prior to moving away from the location the sun was previously at. Which means the new orbit, which starts much higher than before, would also travel much closer to the sun at its lowest point in the orbit. So you would have a freezing cold season, and a freakin hot season. Also: Since your change isn't just an altitude change and your initial vector changes before the sun returns, earth would still not be at it's highest point for at least 4 months. Which makes the math even more fun. Upon request I will present math for this, as opposed to my 4 month estimate.
It doesn’t matter because at minute marker 8:21, one second after the suns gravity disappearing is felt on earth, every living creature would be killed or would die very, very shortly there after. The velocity at which the earth was thrown from its orbit would kill everything.
If the sun disappeared - what on earth would 'a month' even mean ?
We use the Kavanaugh calendar.
A month has it’s origins in the lunar phase... and clocks still work.
Yeah - we call that a lunar month, a month as used by us today is a solar month.
