India is celebrating its 76th independence day as well as 76 years of independence on 15th August 2023. The history of Indian independence cannot be completed without the story of British colonialism in India. This video explains how India become a British colony. The story starts with the arrival of the English East India Company and their expansion over Indian territories. This video mainly focuses on the annexation policies followed by the East India Company through wars and policies like the subsidiary alliance, doctrine of lapse and the doctrine of misgovernence. The transformation of power from the Company to the British crown is also discussed.

Also please try to understand the fact that, tipu sultan had conquered malabar after defeating the malabar ruler (zamorin ?) and have moved further down to capture travancore. Travancore army has restricted the downward movement through its nedumkotta line. Travancore made the subsidiary alliance with east india company and the company attack on mysore caused the retreat of tipu to mysore thus saving travancorre kingdom which otherwise would have been attacked.
Tipu"s army caused immense destruction to the people in the annexed areas. People where divided on religious lines and massacre and forced conversions where carried out. Many hindu family from malabar has migrated and settled in the travancore area as the effect of this barbaric act....

Nice and simple, Alex. One important aspect to understand is that with the loss of America, Britain had no resources to feed their businesses and India was the best option left for them to colonize as a replacement for the USA. This was the main driver that drove the Crown to take over governance of India in 1858, the Revolt being the immediate cause.
American war of independence was in 1775. Company controlled India using "British government" officials long before that.Change of power in 1857 was insignificant in the lives of Indians.
British crown took the charge only because of the independence fight of 1857 because that was centralized fight in which many indians believed to go back to former mughal muslim rule. They marched to Delhi to be ruled under Bahadur sha safar(to appoint him as emperor like the old days of centralised governance). They took red fort control for over 6 months with support of Indian soldiers of kings and indians in british regiments all together.(British historians purposefully reduced it as mere shipayi revolt though).
The next thing they did is what made the difference. They made sure that muslim rulers would never rise back(Tipu was another precedent for this mentality),they killed mughal emperors kids and send the old bahadur sha to exile. They understood that Delhi is centre of control in minds of Indian kings and they took it with full force by demoliting much of the infrastructures there(old delhi). They made plan for new delhi even making sure that the height of new parliament on raisina hills is higher than the minar of Delhi juma masjid(that was in old delhi). I hope he says all of this in next video.
