@@Poorlineforeva The average lifespan of a solar panel is about 15 years, but high temperatures, snow, dust, and other natural events cause material fatigue on the surface and in the internal electric circuits - gradually reducing the panel’s power output.
Solar panels generate 300 times more toxic waste per unit of energy than nuclear power plants.
They also contain lead, cadmium, and other toxic chemicals that cannot be removed without breaking apart the entire panel. Worse, rainwater washes many of these toxins out of the fragments of solar modules over time.
Another real concern is the vast increase in the use of nitrogen trifluoride (NF3) in the construction of solar panels - up 1,057 percent over the past 25 years.
The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change deems NF3 to be 17,200 times more potent than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas - meaning that even relatively minor quantities can have major impacts.

I'm all for Nuclear Power 100%. Good call to add Jubiluka to Kakadu NPark for the indigenous people that live SO close by!! Roxy downs Uranium mine has 2,000 MILLION tons available and is in the hot dry part of Sth Australia. Jabiluka still NEEDS LOTS of restoration and be filled in and planted with native trees. Amen. uranium mining began in 1980 at the nearby Ranger site, surrounded by Kakadu, the radioactive metal has never been mined at Jabiluka site
There were plans to mine Jabiluka in the early 1980s but when Labor won government in 1983 under Bob Hawke, they were put on hold.
Minning rights application for a 10-year renewal became due in August 2024 of the mineral lease for the Jabiluka site, which has never been mined
While some of ERA's minor shareholders had sought to extend the mining lease, it did not have the backing of Rio Tinto.
The disagreement is now resolved with the lease being rejected. never having been mined
There is no fallout because the Jabiluka site was never ever going to be mined
Australia hosts the world’s largest operating uranium mines, including Olympic Dam and Four Mile, Australia has maintained a steady position as a reliable uranium supplier to global markets. The nation holds the largest share of the world’s recoverable resources and is the world’s fourth-largest supplier of uranium

Willy Packer’s $2 billion Investigator Trust tipped about $80 million into ERA over the past four years as part of a long-term bet that uranium’s price resurgence and a growing pro-nuclear sentiment would prompt a reassessment of the undeveloped Jabiluka site.
