I never really liked the caudex plants but your phyllanthus mirabilis is miraculous. The leaf shape and the form of its branches is just so pretty. Very bonsai-esque. If you don't have the squeezy bottle you can use a turkey baster.

I just discovered the sinningia leucotricha on Instagram the other day. I think it's a sign that you showed it today. I must find it! 🤗💚 Thank you for sharing your tips! I almost bought a caudex plant but backed off when I realized I had no idea how to care for it. I'll get one this coming spring. 💖

Such unusual plants. I have just binged watched all your videos from your first one over the last couple of weeks. I have really enjoyed them so much and learnt a lot thanks. One thing that I really appreciate is the fact that you put the latin name on the screen. That has been so useful for me so I can learn more about a plant if I feel like trying to find one and then care for one.
I also love your self painted pots, I am going to have a go as I have a lot of acrylic paint, and could have some fun :) Thanks for all your amazing content. From England x

I think you encouraged me to get the stephania erecta a month or so ago. It's still just the caudex, no growth (going into winter I didn't expect anything). I've never owned a caudex plant so thanks for the inspiration :) I have a grow tent that I put it in with 70-85% humidity so who knows maybe it will do something.

Sadly as of recently Phyllanthus mirabilis can no longer be imported into the US. It requires a two year quarantine, otherwise customs will deny entry. I had it happen to me, apparently it can potentially harbor some type of pest.

thank you for this video! my phyllanthus mirabilis just arrived this week - do you have a specific ratio you like for your bonsai mix? I have lava rock, pumice, and bonsai block. do you do equal parts of each? for fertilizing, do you use something that is meant for passive of semi hydroponics are a general liquid houseplant ferilizer that's diluted? I can't wait to get this lil baby potted up!

My Phyllanthus Mirabilis is growing thin stem and lengthy stem with tiny leaves, wonder if i should cut it off and will it grow new shoots? I live in a all summer country, wonder what's is like when the plants go dormant?

    • @mypetitegarden

I havent witnessed it growing larger but it grows back differently each time. I think (and I could be wrong) the caudex itself does get larger with age but that happens very very slowly.

If you dont like the look of fading leaves its okay to cut it back, otherwise the leaves and stems will yellow and fall off naturally 👌🏼

Yo my uncle had one and it would usually do this before it went dormant. The leaves wouldn't even go yellow, they would just fall off. I wouldn't worry if I were you, so long as the caudex is firm and the right colour:) good luck bro!

I just got a mirabilis , i placed it in a sunny south-facing window. I moved it to a bigger ceramic pot bec the roots were completely out of the pot. I watered a tiny tiny bit. Its been 3 days now and the leaves closest to the bulb has turned yellow. What am i doing wrong? Or is it just going dormant for winter? Thanks!
