Thank you thank you thank you. I've said it before, you guys provide more of a feeling and understanding about the places you're visiting just by showing street life and day-to-day stuff than any other vloggers who seem intent on giving information by talking the whole time. You show getting tickets for public transport, buying hot drinks from vending machines, going to 7-11, travel passes, walking around, interesting sights, and you film it and let it explain itself, and give a bit of chat when needed, so that we really get a feel for what you are doing in such a happy and, well, artistic manner it's a joy to watch. Congratulations. Melbourne Simon.
This is exactly the type of thing we are trying to convey, so it is really amazing to hear that it is being received that way!
Always lovely to hear from you, Simon. Hope all is well in Australia.
Cheveyo & Tia
I travelled from Tokyo to Hiroshima on the Shinkansen, loved it. So smooth. Japan has the best and most reliable public transport. Japan is awesome. I miss it so much.
We were shocked to learn that the Shinkansen are late an average of 1 minute *per year*. That's just mind-boggling.

She looks happy and so relaxed.Have fun!
I'm Japanese, welcome to Japan. I don't think much of it when I ride it every day for work, but seeing it from a different perspective made me understand once again how exciting it is.
I hope you enjoy the rest of the world as well.
Can u recommend website to buy airticket fr tokyo to sapporo?
I’m really enjoying your Japan videos. I love Japan - the food, the historic sites, the culture - one of my favorite countries to visit. Keep up the good work!

I am so jealous of you guys. I am in Tokyo now and wanted to go up to Hokkaido but couldn't get enough vacation time to do it. Looking forward to watching your adventures up there instead.
I love how you guys are so respectful of local customs; wearing masks and speaking softly on the trains
Good for you to that you got to spend time with Tia's family in Japan ☺️ I would like to take the bullet train in Japan! Can't wait to see more of Sapporo 🤩
Some Interesting facts about the Shinkansen: the more the number of cars, the faster it goes. Every car has its own power train unlike the normal trains you find elsewhere, which are usually powered by 1 or 2 locomotives. The Shinkansen N700 series has a maximum of 16 cars and top speed of 300 kmph. Also, it takes about 4 kilometers to come to a dead stop from a top speed of 300 kmph. It is equipped with earthquake detection sensors which automatically triggers emergency stop procedure in case of an earthquake along its route.
These were all very interesting facts, thank you! The engineering behind these trains is incredible.
@@OnePackWanderers oh yes, I forgot the most interesting fact as to why the N700 series have an elongated nose. This is to ensure stability when entering tunnels at very high speeds, but the most interesting part is how did the engineers come up with such a design for the nose. Well, it so happened someone was watching a kingfisher dive into the water, causing hardly a ripple. So they came up with a nose design modeling the beak of the kingfisher. This is the beauty of Zen, learn from what nature has to offer.

You guys are cute putting sweaters gifted by the grandma😊
There is something special about riding trains in Japan but especially the Shinkansen. It's one of my favorite things to do there, very practical, easy and comfortable! This series is so cool, I am learning a lot of new things & places.
I’m glad that your parents are in Japan and you were able to spent time with them and all of your relatives . Kudos to you for keeping the traditions by payed respects to your ancestors. Take care and keep the videos coming.😊

If you’re going to the far south of Japan, I highly recommend the island of Yakushima off the south of the main islands of Japan. One of my favorite places I’ve been in the world. Thousands of year old massive cypress trees up in the mountains including possibly the oldest tree alive in the world that you hike to up an old WWII era abandoned train track. Special species of deer and monkeys up in the mountains. Moss forests that inspired some of Miyazaki’s animated forests. Tropical jungle feeling at ground level up to high temperate forests up the mountains. Amazing local onsens and seafood. And a fun ferry ride for a few hours out from Kagoshima to get there.

Have a nice trip😍😊👍
How nice that you got to spend quality time with your family! It looked so nice. That is a long day of travels and I hope y’all got a good nights rest. So amazing that you’re going to be traveling all through Japan 😍

Hokkaido was the first spot i landed in my journey to Japan , i have yet to finish it up by visiting Kyushu , my last leg but covid struck , Hokkaido is like the Alaska of Japan , it's at the north , cold , got bears and they eat lots of seafood .. superb upload from dynamic duo
My wife and I visited Hokkaido last week and decided to fly instead of taking the Shinkansen. We were only in Japan for a week and didn't want to spend 2 of those days on a train. The flight was only an hour and half and I think it was cheaper. We highly recommend renting a car because you'll see so much more of the island. We also rented a car in Tokyo and had an amazing time seeing the autumn colors around Lake Kawaguchi and Hakone. We also saw quite a bit more than usual while driving around Tokyo last Saturday. Hope you see some autumn colors on Hokkaido because we seemed to be a little late where we were. Just another reason to return another time.
I’m doing the same thing next month. Going to Japan for a week and decided to squeeze in a one night two day trip to Hokkaido 🥲 wasn’t sure if it was a stupid thing to do or not because it’s my first time in Japan
I m visiting hokkaido in coming april... You wrote that it is best to drive around island.... Can u recommen any rental car office in sapporo?
@@zgrace3224 I used Nippon Rent a Car at the New Chitose airport and in Tokyo. They also have several locations in Sapporo. It was really easy and they were incredibly friendly. I’m guessing that every company is like that.
@@tburt50_ do u drive by urself as i am googling , it is with driver included
I took that train. Absolutely loved it. Great you had family time. Are you going to extend Japan trip?? Are you going to the brewery?? Absolutely awesome
We will probably be in Japan until late December/early January. It will probably take us at least a month to make it all the way down to the islands 🙂
You guys are just so pleasant to watch. Everything is well presented and not too long and highlight all the cool stuff on your adventures. Keep it up !
Love the pov shots that make you really feel you are there.
Thank you! Working on refining those a bit still 😅
it looks very comfy on the bullet train despite the long-distance journey! I hope you guys enjoy the Hokkaido scenery, food, and leaf coloration! maybe the Onsen too!
My husband and I LOVE your videos we are so excited when we see you’ve posted a new video. How long are you going to be in Japan for? Can’t wait for your next post🤗
Can't wait to see you guys exploring Hokkaido and other parts of Japan!
Their smiles are priceless treasures.
In Hokkaido(北海道), there's a fried chicken called "Zangi(ザンギ)."
It is one size bigger than the common Japanese fried chicken called "Karaage(からあげ)" and very tasty!
Hokkaido is also rich in seafood, so if you get a chance, try crab(カニ), salmon roe(イクラ), or sea urchin(ウニ)! It's a bit pricey though lol
I went to Japan roughly 3 weeks ago too. Been in Hokkaido Sapporo the entire time so far but will be going to Tokyo soon... kind of reverse of your guys. Have fun.
Same to you, enjoy your trip 🙂
You guys are the best. Love your video, always puts a smile on my face.
日本にいるのに、最近何処にも行ってない事に気づきました。
そうだ、旅に出よう!
もう少し仕事を頑張ってから、忘れかけていた新しい発見の為に。
気づかせて頂きありがとうございます。
omg i lovvvvve the Japan videos!!! it’s bringing back all the memories from when i was there in 2019 😭 can’t wait to see what the rest of your trip has in store for y’all ✨🫶🏼
So happy you like them 😊 We are having a lot of fun here. Will you come back to Japan?
@@OnePackWanderers yesssss I’m planning to go back next year around the end of summer!!! Honestly soooo excited for it 🤩
p.s I’ll be adding a few things from your guys trip to my itinerary hehe 🤓🍜
Woo! Late Summer in Japan looks amazing 😍
2人のワクワク感が、伝わってくる😀
Have a nice trip ! from Japan.
Having done the same train trip, I think I will fly next time. I took the train because I wanted to stop in Aomori but for time saving purposes I think I will take advantage of internal flights
笑顔が素敵☺️
I love Hokkaido so much. But maybe next year. I like seafood there along with dairy products. Great quality.
WOOHOO! Hokkaido! This video basically answered a few questions I had for my upcoming Japan trip. Looking forward to the Hokkaido videos. 😁
was Tia born in Japan? Loved the video guys! So nice that you got to spend time with family. How special!
I was born in the US 🙂 Mom and that whole side of the family is from there. I’ve been lucky enough to visit many times 😊
@@OnePackWanderers Cool. Half a century ago I was in Japan for almost three years. There is a small US Army base (Camp Zama) to the south-west of Tokyo and that is where I went to high school.

thanks for indicating prices and price of trains, useful info
Yay! You're going to visit my in-laws hometown in Kagoshima! Lots of great food down there not to mention shochu! Highly recommend you also try their premium tonkatsu, karakan, ramen and tori sashi. I'm sure you'll visit Sakurajima too and there's a free public hot foot bath very near the ferry port.
🥩🍜 🐔 🍶 🗾
It's cheaper to take a low cost carrier and fly in half the time. Take a bullet train on a shorter and cheaper ride. Then again a bullet train is so cool and should be on one's bucket list.
The rail pass is a bargain...maybe? We found that lots of trains are not JR...
Will Sapporo have the ice festival this year? Think it's in Feb so you may have to come back...bring your parkas.🥶
I am very pleased with this wonderful family reunion🌱
Hokkaido is a treasure trove of ingredients!
For seafood, seasonal oysters and scallops. He is more of a meat person than a fish person, I recommend Hokkaido wagyu beef or mutton barbecue called Genghis Khan.
Miso butter ramen is also a must !
Lloyd's for chocolate and Shiroi Koibito are the most famous chocolate confections in Japan💓
You won't see drift ice until January, but it's already below freezing in the northern and eastern parts of Hokkaido right now.
If you buy a light down compact vest or jacket from UNIQLO that folds up small like a raincoat, it will come in handy early in the morning and at night when it is cold. I've been using mine for 6 years and it hasn't deteriorated at all🎵
Every woman in Japan uses Uniqlo's Heattech underwear. And we enjoy wearing clothes that are not limited to protection from the cold✨
I have become a fan of yours and will continue to watch your wonderful travel videos even after I leave Japan.
I'll be watching you guys with great enthusiasm for your comfortable journey in the North 🌱🌱
Ah! The electronic message board inside the Shinkansen said that the train was delayed because something had entered the tracks. Perhaps a deer?
It happened only twice in the past. There is no entrance or exit, so they say it's hard to get rid of it. How they get in is a mystery. Thanks for the long wait🍀
In the city, police officers sometimes guide and organize cars when the Karugamo ducks move out.
It is a peaceful Japan🦆🦌🦆🦌✨
Ooh, thank you so much for the wonderful suggestions! Will definitely have to try Genghis Kahn here 😋
My passion is train too .Thanks for sharing unfortunately shinkansen go to only hakodate afterthat is quite not high speed but i still love it I miss the time i took train from sapporo to furano 6 years ago
Indeed! It slows down a *lot* after Hakodate. Did you like Furano? 😊
This train is like SpaceX rocket 🚀
I just did the same trip yesterday! I’m in Sapporo too. But..I flew, took an hour and a half. Can’t wait to share the experience with you, I’m looking for ideas. I’m here the next 2 weeks. Hope to run into you!
Would be lovely to run into you! Your flight was much faster than our train rides 😅
I’m hitting an area called Susukino tonight, supposed to be full of restaurants!!
My first shinkansen several weeks ago... So nice I fell asleep 15 minutes in!
Thank you for another wonderful video! I'm sure you'll have a great time in Hokkaido with all the beautiful scenery and the FOOD! I remember eating corn on the cob and a baked potato from a street vendor right in the park! The soft ice cream is also super yummy. Otaru is a very picturesque port city close to Sapporo and has some really nice cafes and shops. I think the way you two travel is such a nice way to enjoy everything around you. I love the enthusiasm and warmth you bring to every video! 😁👏
thank you for coming to Japan!!!
I am here by chance and happy to see you two enjoying your train trip in Japan. I love trains, too. 2 weeks ago I've visited Aomori and Akita by Shinkansen. Have a great stay in Japan!
I thought you guys were going to Hokkaido with just t-shirts lol But it's still warmer than Hokkaido in winter. The average temperature in Hokkaido in winter is about 15℉.
2人の笑顔を見ていると、汽車旅の楽しさがわかります。北海道にようこそ😀
Loving your videos. I was in Japan roughly same time visiting family. Love the Shinkansen’s and you’re totally right. They upgraded the specs on line so it does 320km/h (restricted to that speed to be super safe b/c it has been tested at much higher speeds, but Japanese like to be precise and safe).
I was in Hakodate this January and it was bitterly cold and windy.
While my family spend more time with grandparents in Japan, I am back in Sydney and it’s a jump from winter Japan to summer Australia that shows that seasons can be seriously different and…. Biggest shock with coming home is how much stronger Australian sun is.
Good to see you two again , say Hi from Bangkok.
Hello to Bangkok!
Love ur vibes. Thanks for sharing all the important info's!!
The Ganso Sapporo Ramen Yokocho. It’s in Susukino, 17 ramen shops, featured by Anthony Bourdain.
Really enjoy your vids guys I wished you guys lived full time in japan!!!!😢
I like trains as well, but I dont think I will like it for 8 hours! Going from Tokyo to Sapporo directly ourselves with no plans to stop in Hakodate! Flying with a 21 month old seems like the faster and better option for us!
Have a good trip!
great video, looking to do the same trip in the future.
Hi guys, I just got back from Korea and did just about everything you guys did! epic adventure, cant wait to re create your Japan tour. I did the KTX "bullet" triain.... cant wait to ride a real bullet train.
That’s so cool! How did you like Korea? The nature and hiking there is so beautiful 😍
@@OnePackWanderers I was very blessed. I covered points to the east and west and SEOUL to Busan. some much to see and love. There were amazing things and some complicated things to witness. Shinkansen runs on standard-gauge railway (1435mm). While many, but not every, of the none Shinkansen Japanese railways are on 1067mm narrow-gauge railway. This maybe why some other trains are narrower. Metros are also on standard-gauge.
Ah, thank you for the correction/context! Maybe the Shinkansen just felt wider due to clever packaging/seating arrangement? Or it was just my mind playing tricks on me 😂
@@OnePackWanderers No no 😆 What I meant was Shinkansen trains are indeed wider. You were right about it.
The JR Hokkaido train and the Narita Airport train are both at about 2,845mm wide.
Shinkansen trains are about 3,385 mm wide. 🚄
Metro trains are narrower even thought it's on standard-gauge, sorry for the confusion on gauge width. There are Metro trains from 2,490mm wide to around 2,800mm wide.
To sums it up, Shinkansen are much wider then all other Japanese trains and Metros. 😄
Maybe look up some of the tourist train around Japan! The special sightseeing trains are beautiful. Some with special meals and have special interior. JR Kyushu have a whole range of tourist trains all look amazing.
Great video! From japan
😊
Another day in paradise...👍🙃
“Every day for the next 3 weeks”! 🤣🤣🤣🚂🚂
楽しんでいってね!
Hey you are following one of my other favorites Gabriel Travel would be neat if you did a crossover episode 😊
Cool trip, you guys. Greeting from Indonesia :)
Hello to Indonesia 🙂
Trains are also my favorite form of transport. 😊😊😊
You guys should have stayed in Hakodate for a day or two.. It's great ;-) Breaks up the loooong train ride as well :-)
That gives us something to do on the way back down 🙂
I just love you guys. Kinda late for me to tune in, but thanks! Are those AllBirds? lol
Those are AllBirds! Good eye 😂

The shinkansen train "Hayabusa means falcon in japanese" is the most rapid speed 320km/h running in the ordinary bussines in the world.
Really enjoying your videos. Have been watching since the first video in Japan. Can you comment on shorts? I notice you wearing shorts in a few of your videos. We are going to be there in the summer and don’t want to be disrespectful. Can you comment as a tourist perhaps on clothing that is acceptable as a tourist? I am use to running around in athletics shorts with my kids when we go on vacation. Also can you comment on the luggage issue on Shinkansen? I know you have big backpacks but they changed some of rules. Thanks again!
Gabriel Traveler is also there! Possible meet-up with some my favorite RUclips vloggers? Hokkaido
That'd be so cool! We are such small potatoes compared to him, I think we'd be irritating if we tried to meet him 😂 But it would be really cool to run into him. He seems a lot like my (Cheveyo's) dad.
@@OnePackWanderers I think he’d be happy to meet you guys! Trust me, with Tia’s knowledge of Japan you could help him! Reach out! You have nothing to lose!

So jealous of you two right now, I'm about ready to start blasting the Asian Kung Fu Generation and Ellegarden on the headphones 😆
Kung Fu Generation heck yea!
How do you book the Shinkansen tickets? Thanks
Hi. Did you paid for the 2nd train to Saporo. The slowone? See you in a machine geting a ticket?
My favorite city is Sapporo,Hokkaido❤️
I'm thinking about taking the bullet train from tokyo to niseko - did you say it took about 10 hours?
Hi, can you please tell me how much did it cost to get from Tokyo to Hokkaido? I always wanted to go to Hokkaido when i was studying over there but I didn't have a chance. Now that I'm going back tokyo for a trip, I wanna see if I could go there on my own. Thank you in advance.
Dear fst love from🇧🇩
Welcome to Hokkaido! I’m originally from Hakodate. My husband has been messaging you by instagram. We are in Hokkaido as well.
Hello! 😊 It would be nice to bump into you two, if we end up in the same place at the same time!
Thank you for the video. Although of JR Rail Pass, did you pay extra fees for this trip to Hokkaido?
Thankfully, there are no reservation fees attached to the JR Pass we bought. I think the only extra fees would be if we decided to upgrade to first class, or take one of the overnight sleeper trains.
Thank you Very mucho for your reply. I am planning to do this trip but from Hokkaido to Tokyo 😊.
We have been comparing the regular cost of fares against the JR Pass, and it’s definitely worth it if you plan to use trains. For us, the cost will equal out after a week of use, and that’s for the 21 day ticket. We will probably ‘save’ $600 per person at the end.
Have fun on your trip! Hokkaido is really cool 🙂
my first time on speed rain was Frankfurt to Berlin. As you know Australia has slow train network
I can't wait to go to Sapporo
By the way which hotel did you stay the first night?
where is mama and dad? We want to meet them!
