    Lol, my grandmother always said "if in doubt throw it out", so not so new... she also said "its better to have and not need it, than to need it and not have it" lol. I've lived my life by both so I'm a minimalist hoarder...😂

    We've also been travelling with carry on only for the last 3 years (the last of those years was continuous travel through Canada in winter as well as Central America). We love the freedom that it gives you to move around easily. Second hand shops are a godsend when you need to change season.
    We've found in Central America you can't always buy everything that you'd want electronics wise, but overall we've been happy with going carry on only.

    The best thing I found was a product called washawaze They are super compact all in one soap/face/shampoo/conditioner/shaving cream. Can be used for it all. They are sheets that can be divided into small squares for say washing your hands and then add on for bigger jobs. Like say a whole sheet for hair and body (a whole sheet is about the size of a playing card. They are awesome. Super light weight and no spilling since the active with water and rubbing in your hands. Smells great too, like coconut 🥥 (but smell doesn’t linger after for long in case someone doesn’t want the smell after the fact)

    Another thing to try if you are considering living in one bag is to actually do it at home for a few months. While you are doing that you can also purge items you are not using and don't need.

    I have the E-bag and I do like it as long as it's not packed too full - - because then, it's pure torture to walk around with it on! I guess, as you said, it has something to do with the weight distribution. I'm looking forward to seeing what bag you end up with.

      I buy little things as souvenirs. In Costa Rica, Purchased a tiny hand blown glass frog the size of a golf ball. It was perfect and I look at it all the time. In Paris I purchased a 3 inch tin Eiffel Tower for 4 Euro. I buy magnets, which are small. In Normandy, I brought a small medicine sized glass bottle to bring home some sand. The small things are fantastic!

    I've been through a bunch and finally settled on the Osprey Porter 46 which I've used for the last several trips and I do like it... I couple it with my REI Flash 22 daypack which I can just remove the support in it and fold it and put it inside my main bag if necessary. For waterproofing, I currently just have a rain cover which works I guess. I'm considering getting a Aquaquest waterproof after I saw a hiker using it on my Kilimanjaro expedition earlier this year, I really loved that pack... super light and totally waterproof.

    I used to have a duffel bag when I travel but now I always just go with a sturdy roller carry-on. After being in huge airports with a long hike to customs and down city streets - carry on luggage with good wheels is the way to go in my opinion. I used to arrive at my accommodation with really sore shoulders but no longer. True - not so good if you have be on the back of a scooter taxi. I do carry a small backpack inside of my carry-on. Even with just a carry on I wonder why I packed so much.

    Cool video, thanks for the tips. I've been working on getting minimalist. I now got all my essential stuff into two bags.
    As for the bag recommendation, the lowepro flipside sport 20L is awesome if that's not too small. The camera padding all comes out and then it's very lightweight, I think about 700g, it opens like a suitcase, and opens from your back's side, so pickpockets can't reach into the main compartment while you're wearing it. There's a video on my channel about it in the favourites playlist. For me it's sometimes too large, so I also bought the 10L version, and sometimes it's too small so I attach a Crumpler Light Delight pouch on top of it which adds maybe 7L extra.

    • @Theendlessadventure
      @Theendlessadventure  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the tips. Glad you found it helpful! Yeah, one bag has been tough. Are you hoping to ultimately get down to one or has two been working well for you?

    • @nitsan
      @nitsan 7 лет назад

      Yes definitely want to get down to one backpack, plus my skateboard.
      I can currently fit all my travel essentials into the 10L backpack, and if I only take one change of clothes then I can even fit my 13" macbook in there. lol
      But I would need to leave a suitcase in a family member's home with a few things like documents, other clothes, a few tools, etc.

    Do they manage to meet 7kg restriction for carry-on luggage which is pretty much standard for economy class? I only ask because I have begun packing for a long trip and was influenced by videos like this to try and pack everything I needed in a carryon bag. Most of these travel tubers give tips on how to fit everything you need into a small carryon pack however I found this not to be an issue. The issue is meeting the 7kg weight restriction which is proving to be pretty much impossible for a long trip. Looks like my bag will have to get checked in after all

    Hey guys.. have you decided on a new bag? Have you considered the Tortuga Outbreaker? It comes in 35L and 45L. I am strongly considering that, or possibly the Kelty Redwing 50L, for upcoming long term travels of my own through South America. The Kelty also has a smaller variant. The Kelty looks like it would be more comfortable to carry, but the Tortuga more user friendly in it's design. Would love to know what you guys choose to go with :)

  • @TigersTimelessTreasures

    I know, I'm late again... But what I have a problem with with carry ons is the liquid rule. Do you throw away all your liquids every time you fly? I imagine that can get expensive and certainly is not good for the planet (yep, here I go again...). I remember I had a conversation with a TSA person at DIA once, because I had an "empty" bottle of something that he questioned because it was "empty". In fact, it was almost empty but had just enough liquid in it for me to use for the weekend and not enough to where I could not take it in my carry on. :-) And right now, my carry on only contains my laptop and camera equipment and is FULL and heavy as heck. I am leaving for Berlin again in November.

    Hello! I am preparing for my first trip to Australia in June and I’m unsure whether to bring my Osprey farpoint 40 with a high school sized back pack or only the farpoint. I want to bring the high school backpack as my day bag but I’m unsure if it’s necessary and worried that the airline will not accept two carry ons.
    Do you think this is a issue or not?
    By the way great video just discovered you guys

    • @katfran492
      @katfran492 5 лет назад +1

      Billy Bob Bring both but you may have to check the 40 depending on the airline. Qantas has a 15 pound limit for carry-ons. Most international carriers have stricter limits for carry-on. June is winter in Australia so be prepared for that but I don’t think it will be too cold.

    • @AS898-h3u
      @AS898-h3u 5 лет назад

      Katrina Francis thank you I will bring both of them because I feel a day pack is very necessary. Hopefully Qantas will let me check it in as a personal item.
      Yes haha I’m prepared, I live in Miami so it’s a great way to escape its crazy summer heat

    • @katfran492
      @katfran492 5 лет назад

      Billy Bob You will definitely be able to check it because Qantas allows you two checked bags for international flights. They may not be as strict in Miami as they are out of LAX. Good luck and have a great trip.

    There's this backpack from a brand called Quechua. For me it's kinda the perfect backpack. It is front load, and has tons of compartments and ergonomic. Plus it has a detachable sling bag too. Making it much easier to travel with just one bag. The link is the female version but it has the male version too. Besides, its cheap for what it offers.
