Imagine having a band where the people just do what music you imagine done. That was Nightwish's best era. Marco, Tuomas, Emppu all composing.

This is one of my favorite Nightwish performances. It is very iconic. In addition, the parallel that is possible between the history of Nightwish and the story told by the musical is very interesting. Tarja would be Christine and Tuomas would be the Phantom. In the musical's history, the Phantom is in love with Christine. It is an unrequited and stormy love. In addition, the Phantom is heard through Christine when she sings his compositions. The story of Nightwish is marked by dramas and many say that Tuomas suffered from an unrequited love for Tarja. Tuomas used to say that Tarja was the voice that best expressed his feelings. The lyrics of songs in Tarja's day were often very confessional. Christine was the voice of the Phantom, while Tarja was the voice of Tuomas. In the musical, the Phantom disputes Cristine with Raoul. At Nightwish, Marcelo (Tarja's current husband) said that Tuomas disputed Tarja's love (read the answer he gave to question 36 of the fans). Nightwish's choice to cover The Phantom of the Opera, just the part where Christine and the Phantom sing together, seems to be a very interesting coincidence, or who knows, it might even be a choice made by the unconscious, if the situation is viewed from a psychoanalytic perspective
She is fecking Adorkable such a cutie. Great to see the the two part video style as well I love to see people hear the song with out the constant pauses spoiling the flow of the music.
I love Floor but Nightwish is like this and sounds so especial because Tarja sings like a opera singer.

1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005
2. Annette: 2006 to 2012
3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+
everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does while with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish

Anette is the reason the band still exists. Tuomas was getting death threats after Tarja left. Tarja was Nightwish back in the day. Then Anette comes and Tuomas redeems himself by utilizing her voice into producing their two of three best selling albums with songs that truly fit her voice. Anettes problem was that she could not sing Tarjas songs to save her life. Then finally Nightwish gets a great metal singer and Tuomas decides to produce mediocre shit.Once is still unbeaten but DPP and Imaginaerum are the best of the rest albums and these two are Anette's albums.
This song fits Taria's voice to perfection. Who else wants to hear the complete musical performed by Nightwish? Tuomas, a new project?
Tarja the original and the best. Floor has some classical training but Tarja has extensive. Tarja was very sick in high fewer during this show, this was end part of it and in between songs she vomited.Great reaction. cheers from Finland the land of the Nightwish

sorry thats completely false, he never said that ,he does not even know who NW is , he has however said that Henk Poort the Dutch Phantom was one of his favorite ,who performs this with Floor Jansen from the Beste Zangers

@@nicod1361 I don't know about the interview, BUT in fact Andrew Loyd Weber had to allow the release of this song by Nightwish Twice: first one in the "Century Child" studio album, second time in the "End of an Era" Live album... You cannot release a composers music without his knowlegde, so he definetely had to know who Nightwish are, and if he didn't like it, he would not allow them to release the song Twice (its actually quite common when a composer denies this, Nightwish themselves were at first denied the release of "The heart asks pleasure first" by Michael Nyman, just as an exemple)...
Having said that, there are many males who can sing the Phantom parts, as well as the Christine Parts for this musical... Anyone can have his favourites, of course. But Henk Poort is just one more Phantom, not the Best, not the worst (very few outside of his home country actually knows who he his)... The musical is still being played around the world with others singing it as well!
What Nightwish with Tarja did was to bring something NEW to the table with an already "classic" song: This instrumental arrengement was New, as well as Tarja's vocal arrengements (Both the Studio and the Live vocal arrangements Tarja did were made by herself, and curiousely copied after by other female singers, which shows how good it fits this song). If you prefer others, its up to you!

The best version of phantom of the opera that I've heard among the several versions I've heard, Marco stole the show and made the phantom into what he should have been portrait from the beginning.
Actually no. Don't get me wrong Marko does an amazing job, but the menacing Phantom should Actually come a Lil later. At this point in the play the Phantom is still Christine's Angel of Music and her seducer.

This ‘Beste Zangers 2019’ version is the best I ever heard. Professional recorded an HD audio & video quality at Ibiza Spain. On top of that performed in a intimate setting. Must watch.
