so somewhat of odd choice to introduce yourself and your viewers to Nightwish since that was not a great performance by the original singer who has not been with the band since 2005, the 3rd,current & final singer since 2013 is Floor Jansen who is a phenom ,from Wacken 2013 the most reacted to song in YT reaction history : NIGHTWISH - Ghost Love Score (OFFICIAL LIVE) : ruclips.net/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/видео.html

I’m sure you both will enjoy Floor Jansen performance with Henk Poort (Dutch professional opera singer & ‘Phantom’) duet at ‘Beste Zangers 2019’ The Phantom of the Opera ruclips.net/video/plCScjvDOJM/видео.html recorded in HD quality by Dutch RTV broadcast company at Ibiza Spain.

Yes Marko played the Phantom perfectly here. He certainly made the part more menacing as I think it should be. If you want to see him as the lead check out Nightwish's version of Pink Floyds High hopes or the Islander.

Elizabeth Zaroff, a prominent opera singer and YT reactor ( The Charismatic Voice) fellmin love with Floor 1st time hearing, and wanted to hear Tarja too on the Phantom of the Opera. She liked Tarja a lot, but was blown away by Marko's vocals. According to Elizabeth his highest note on this performance was G5.
Marko has played the bass so much that it comes naturally, so he can sing at the same time, and act the roll of The Phantom. It is amazing. I have never understood how some drummers can sing at the same time. Drumming itself requires so much coordination. Singing a melody on top of that amazes me.

Tarja almost outdid herself in this insane brilliant performance. Sorry guys, but she was and still is, the best vocalist they ever had. And like you said, she has a darker attitude and that’s make her more interesting to watch.👌❤️🕺💋

Marco brings the menace that the Phantom needs, IMO

Ya know i love Marco's voice and he and Tarja's chemistry is unparalleled. But, the more I think about it, his rasp and menace is actually all wrong for the phantom, story-wise, in this song. He's seducing Christine here and is her teacher with an angelic voice.
Now after this, when she takes the mask off and in particular when he sings point of no return, his style would be perfect for it

@@coachmikesfilmroom3111 I always thought The Phantom was the most overrated musical in history. I was forced to watch it as a gift for my wife. So anything that spiced it up was good for me!

You made a good observation about their voices, I think the contrast is very fitting in this song, and Marco plays the Phantom excellently. And the notes they get to... My god.
I'd love to see you react to some Scardust! Their singer Noa comes from operatic background too, and they are all super talented. I think you'll like their song 'Stranger' which just came out :) Kimmy might like it too!

The concept is Christine representing innocence vs the phantom being a mean character.Nightwish started with gothic influences and that slips in bringing a dark smell. For the 'more metal' side of symphonic metal I suggest "Nymphetamine Fix" (music video) by Cradle Of Filth or "Gateways" (live) by Dimmu Borgir (beautiful, hard and dark, all in one) or for more upbeat and less dark ones "Crepuscularia" by McBeth or "The Essence Of Silence" by Epica. For the softer side, bands like Van Canto and Within Temptation are wonderful.

No question Tarja has some vocal chops. Loved the color of her voice as well, enough that I listened to some old Nightwish songs and some of her solo work.
That said, I think Marco stole the show. I also think this is the most appropriate and best version of the song I have ever heard, and I have listened to many versions. I listen to opera a fair amount. Tarja stacks up well on this song with many lyric sopranos who sing nothing but opera professionally. I actually think there are few men who can sing this song in that style as well as Marko did.

Nightwish - Slaying the Dreamer (End of an Era)

    Nightwish's 3 singers:
    1. Tarja (original singer): 1995 to 2005
    2. Annette: 2006 to 2012
    3. Floor (current singer): 2013 to 2020+
everyone knows Floor, she's super popular with everyone, especially right now, and is a really good singer, having a huge variety of singing capability (pop, classical/opera, belting, growling/raspy), able to sing nightwish's old songs that were for Tarja's classical/opera singing, as well as new songs for her own variety/range of singing abilities
Unfortunately for Annette, she's a pop/rock singer, and a very good singer too, but her pop/rock singing just didn't go that well with nightwish's music, which was made for Tarja's classical/opera singing. So, usually, she gets left out.
so, it comes down to "Targasm” (Tarja) vs “Floorgasm” (Floor) in terms of the Nightwish singers in who you like most, if you like classical/opera singing better, Tarja is better at it, but that's all she does while with nightwish, as nightwish was created for tarja's unique dark operatic singing/voice, (now with her own band, or solo, she does a greater range of singing), but she does it really well, she's really got a beautiful voice, if you like more pop singing, belting and growling/raspy, with or without classical/opera singing, than you like Floor better
I knew nightwish from the early 2000s, so Nightwish will always be with Tarja, but Nightwish with Floor is really good too, but it's Tarja, who's my favorite singer with nightwish
(many others will help you out with Floor's songs, so I'll just stick to Tarja's songs here)
    ----------
if you do like Tarja with nightwish, here's some good ones:
    (NOT ranked, just listed)
    1. End of an Era (her last concert with nightwish, hard to find good quality and the entire concert, as it gets taken down)
    2. Phantom of the Opera (her duet with Marco, really good, both of them together, this song was actually used in the Phantom of the Opera remake movie in 2004)
    3. Wishmaster
    4. Planet Hell (marco sings in this song as well)
    5. End of All Hope
    6. Dead Boy's Poem
    7. Nemo (watch the official music video, NOT her concert performance of it, as it's really good, this is probably what got most of us older fans of nightwish, hooked to nightwish and her, after finding/watching this song by her and nigthwish)
    8. Kinslayer
    9. she is my sin
    10. wish I had an angel
    11. slaying the dreamer
    and many more too

A couple of things here. When you go back and look at the musical, Eric (the Phantom) is supposed to be menacing, primarily because of what happened to him. If I remember correctly, he kills someone, so he's supposed to be this menacing thing. So Marco plays up on the menacing aspect here.
Second, when you look at it, Eric is doing all that he can to get Christine to sing, and she does. In some interpretations of the song, it offers a slight hint of BDSM, where Eric is the dominant, while Christine is the submissive. So add that into the menacing aspect that Marco portrays here, and you get an unusual twist, which makes this version stand out.
Third, this wasn't a one-off performance, like if some band plays a cover live that you'll never hear on their albums, or hear recorded. Nightwish covered the song on their album "Century Child", which was released in 2002. It is the album arrangement of the song that you will hear Floor Jansen and Henk Poort use in their duet of Phantom of the Opera on the Dutch TV show, Beste Zangers. That is worth a listen.

Enjoyed the reaction, somewhat. Since she’s not a full-on metalhead, she would probably enjoy Ghost Love Score, Elan and Sleeping Sun. Sung live by Floor, of course. I’m not a big fan of splitting up the music and the commentary. I like to hear the reaction with commentary as they occur using the pause, backup, resume method. It’s not interesting watching someone watch a video without commentary. It’s like watching a video without reactors. I remember two other reactors who started doing that and I just stopped watching them. Anyway, it’s your channel. Do your thing. I do enjoy it when there are two or more reactors and they get a little banter going back and forth. 😄🤘

i think Marcos style of portraying the phantom was awesome,.. because the phantom is a bad person...and it fits this portrayal way better than the smooth opera style.
doesnt mean i dislike the original....i just think the original doesnt fit the story as good.
