Thank you! It is so encouraging to know I am not the only one who would prefer to plan next year instead of finish this year. We tried to use GatherRound as our core this year, and we just don't like it. It might be good as an 'extra', but we honestly have 3 units left that I purchased, and we don't even want to do them. The kids groan every time I pull it out. But I am planning for us to finish them, just not in the way they were intended.

We didn't use Gather 'Round as our core, but did 3 units over the course of the year when we felt like mixing things up. It worked really well for us doing it that way. We loved the units we did, but were always ready for a break from GR when we wrapped one up. Maybe you want to save the units you didn't do and use them next year when your kids aren't tired of them anymore! Changing how you approach them is great too! :)

We downloaded a three week sample from Sonlight and got the books from the library. It’s been a fun week so far.

That's a great idea! We used Sonlight for several years and really enjoyed it!

    We were missing you!
I’m doing a smooth transition this time because we finished earlier our Language Arts program but are behind schedule in Math and History. We took a lot of time for history and got stuck in the Middle Ages. We just loved it. We are starting a new science curriculum because the one we were working on did not work for us but I don’t want to stop science. My kids overall were supposed to start nine grade this coming fall but they just don’t want to and I’m ok with that because they are just way ahead for their age. I have to slow down in some areas and move on in others but overall we are very happy with the way everything is going and they still love learning. Thank you for another great video🌸

So happy to hear how you adapt things to work for your family!! I wish new homeschoolers had that same confidence as I see so many stressed out mamas trying to finish what they bought for this year, even if it isn't working for their kids. What ages are your kids?

My oldest middle schooler is behind in math 🤪. We had to repeat a few units, so needing to play catch up and probably will go into the summer with it. The benefits of homeschooling!
But I’m soooo excited about planning for next year 🤗
We love outschool! My older two have done entire IEW unit, writing classes that they can do at their own pace (we love flex classes) all on outschool. Highly recommend:)

Middle school math is hard!!! Good for you for repeating things as needed. I love hearing about your Outschool experience! This is the first time we've done a class and it's been great. Do you have an IEW instructor that you recommend?

@@karlacanon2507 We have been using Paige Bombacie, she offers lots of flex classes for IEW. We prefer the self paced feel of the outschool classes. You have inspired me to order the IEW writing course for my older two! I have a rising grade 6 and 8. She I was planning to purchase the grade 6-8 program and stream the instructional videos with Andrew Pudewa:) I think having some IEW experience will really help them get through the program!

I am planning to finish Notgrass Our Star Spangled Story next year. We have enjoyed it, but only completed part 1.

I often complete things over two years and find we can enjoy it more that way! Good for you!

This was my first year homeschooling and I can 100% relate with so many of the things you've covered on the end of the year woes/worries.

It's something we all struggle with, but I'm sure you've done a fantastic job with your kids. No one knows their unique strengths and challenges better than you!

Thank you, I love your videos! There is always so much substance. I actually do feel that a lot of the curriculum we have used throughout the year - As excited as I was at the beginning, I now need a break from these materials. Excellent idea to focus on what has been neglected so far! We do need to finish math, though. That’s a must.
