If we walk away from this with £27M in intial fee after add ons, get his £3.9M wages off the books, & then make another £20-30M after sell on clause it’s a MASSIVE win not only bc it’s a proper deal but it’s huge for FFP bc he’s an academy product
Exactly, and incentive for Marseille to try and onsell for 60m+ to cover transfer, sell on clause and wages just to break even - don't always break even in football but just from business perspective

With the sell on clause being 40-50% what's stopping a bigger club offering to buy him for a deflated fee in the future and buying a youth player at the same time for an inflated price to balance out the difference, meaning Marseille would get a better transfer fee and United would lose out?

Surely the “multiple bid approach” is a reinforcement of the “we are walking away” posture as clubs like Everton who are holding out for £20 million more than we’ve bid. They see us making bids elsewhere and realise we will walk away - after unsettling their player in the process.

It's good to clear out the deadwood if you are bringing in better talent. I think we are in a weaker position than we were last season and the one before. We are not getting better quality for replacements.

I think it's disgraceful that a person has been judged guilty and his career potentially ruined. All charges got dropped united should have stuck by him. If he was never going to play for the club again - which looked very likely to be the case - then he has to be sold. We aren't getting a fee that reflects what he could have been worth as a player but probably as much as we could reasonably expect.
