I've used this lens lots this year, bought for £95 new off Amazon (black Friday last year), it's excellent for insects, they can be surprisingly accommodating. It's an absolute jem

Thanks for the review, I've had this lens a few days and think you've summed it up well. What's the white grip you're using on the EM5?

l bought this same lens a couple of month ago, from MPB, 'as new 150 euros'. l use it on my Olympus E-P5. lts my first venture into to macro photography and must say I'm very pleased with the lens. l us a couple of Godox Litemons for illumination when necessary... Thanks for your review..

I love how sharp it is to photograph landscapes. Not the ideal focal length for that but, as long as you can frame the place, it is awesome.

You're right, it's not super ideal for landscapes - but I'd happily take it out on the camera for a walk or something!

Fun review ! I found a new to me Oly 60mm macro and it’s also useful and fun to use. I should try it more in non macro work to see I like the results

That was great, thank you! I originally bought a $25 10mm+16mm extension tubes set to play around, but you have to get so close and the DoF is so shallow that it makes it really hard to keep things in focus.
I recently got the 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro zoom though, and it's fantastic for macro, at least for my use. It won't be featured in Insect Magazine, but it's a great additional feature to an otherwise already fantastic lens. The 12-45mm f/4 Pro has an even closer focusing distance so it would be a great contender as well.

I think all the Lumix/Oly macro lenses in mft are good. I have the Lumix 30mm F2.8 which I call the travel prime, I find it to be a good focal length for street but if you come across a market or fair you can get some nice close ups, it is also nice for portraits. The Leica 45mm got criticism for being a little soft wide open however it can be found for relatively cheap secondhand and anyway who shoots macro wide open. For those wanting more working distance I can recommend the Tamron 90mm macro I’ve adapted this lens to mft and got good results, it’s a criminally underrated lens so can be found very cheap

Tried this lens but couldn’t get along with the images in post processing. Tried the 30mm equivalent from Panasonic and it was great but I didn’t use it as much as I thought I would so I traded it in to MPB. My native lens collection stays minimal. Not sure I need much more but I keep looking.

Great review of this interesting lens! Having had a play around with an adapted old 100mm md mount macro lens, I'm thinking of picking up a native micro 4/3 macro lens (perhaps for my birthday in summer- insect season!), with such luxuries as autofocus and decent image quality! This seems good, although tempted to save up another £100 or so to get the 60mm version, bit more distance to the subject, weather sealing, also for general I have 30mm focal length covered (12-40 f2.8) but not 60mm, could serve double duty as portrait lens. But this one seems to get good results too, and maybe even slightly higher magnification? Decisions, decisions.

I'd like to see the comparison to the m.zuiko 60 mm and how does the 30mm o of you use it in the 60mm nauticam port

does it have the clutch manual focus activation?

My question is that it seems no one, even in the instructionx booklet, does not show how to use the manual focus ring.

If you set your camera body to manual focus you should be able to focus using the ring
      What body do you have?
