I have this lens. Used it mostly on portraits. In use, the 45mm f1.8 is an absolute pleasure. My first prime lens. Its autofocus is extremely swift. Even at f1.8 wide open it is still sharp enough to give plenty of details on the subject eyes but it is more sharper if you stop down to f2.8..

This little magic lens punches well above its weight, size and price.

Hi Eli, thanks for your insights. I used to have this lens when I still had an E-M10 but eventually I moved back to Lumix, a G80 (I could never get the hang of the Olympus controls) and the Lumix 42.5mm. Both of them have been very good for portraits.

      You're very welcome!
The G80 is a fantastic little camera, and honestly the olympus menus are not intuitive at all!

It was the first lens I bought for m4/3, using my 'old' 4/3 lenses with an adapter when I got my em1.
I have learned (the hard way) to protect my lenses, and use a lens hood there - for the 45 I have one in foldable rubber - 37mm thread - its outer diameter corresponds very well to the rest of the lens, and since I have a black version of the lens, it just fits really well.
Thanks for your videos - I really enjoy them.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy them! I'll look into one of those rubber hoods!

Could you remind us where you found the 3D model for your grip? I have an E-M5iii and I would like to see if it's possible to adapt the grip from the Mk 2 to the Mk 3.

Thank you! I'd imagine it would be pretty easy to adapt, I'll paste it below!

great video. i've been looking for a budget camera and a pocket friendly ecosystem and i stumbled upon micro 4/3. I fell in love just for the aesthetics and small size. i usually like robust and weather sealed bodies because i do alot of landscape, i found a good deal including an Olympus OMD EM-1 with the Mzuiko 75-300 ii and i'm really tempted to get it. What do u think and advise me guys ?

This reply is probably too late, but here it is. I bought a new 75 to 300 a few months ago. Contrary to most reviews, I did not find any fall off and sharpness after 220 mm. I do find that “microcontrast” is not so good at the extreme zoom. That may merely be the haze that comes with distance. Recently I have purchased a CPL filter in an attempt to improve the contrast at distance. Even without this filter, I have been very happy with shots and videos ships taken at a 4 km distance.
My choice was between the lens and the 40-150 F4 Pro. The 75-300 has more reach and is more than good enough in the 75 to 150 range. It is also lighter. However, no weather sealing. The 100-400 is heavier and far more expensive. I am content with my choice.
Also, I feel it is better to work on my craft rather than count on the gear to take the picture for me

@RoderickJMacdonald thx for sharing your experience with us. i finally bought the em1 mark 1 plus m zuiko 45 mm f 1.8 i like it but i need more linses wide for landscape and a super zoom for wild life. I'd love to get a weather sealed lens but im affraid that the lumix 100-300 ii is a bit expensive for me. Also im not sure if the O.I.S stab on lumix lens would work with my em1 body to get dual stab, if not the 75-300 ii would be enough for me.

I somehow assume he's shooting all MF on an old fixed LCD Canon without IBIS, something like that :). His work helped cool off a momentary obsession with 'perfect' AF.
Anyway, great he's out touring again, hope to catch it some day.
