      Alpha J It's the reason why I don't play Hardcore. Every-single-time I play, my kill streaks will kill teammates, and I get booted from the game. If there was no team killing, I would actually play it more, but the only way you can play, is if you use non-lethal kill streaks, and that gets boring to me. Oh, and I also feel you lose a sense of nuance to the individual guns abilities, as everything kills in about one bullet.

    Hardcore Players Need: fast reaction time, great instincts (because there is no mini map), great awareness (you can’t shoot teammates more than 3 times by accident or you will be kicked from game), HC players need to learn how to play with red blood on their screen (if they get shot and survive the blood doesn’t go away).
    Core Players Need: great constant aim (because it takes 10 bullets to kill someone), learn which is the best gun to use (the best gun usually wins in core), learn how to use mini map (because it’s always available).
    I played core on IW, but in WW2 I play hardcore. I like HC play style in WW2.

    • @stungaf
      @stungaf 6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I normally play core but the lag compensation on WW2 was so frustrating I tried HC, and it was so much sharper. As long as you're fast at getting your aim on target you can do well. But earning killstreaks is harder, especially with no health regen. One random lucky shot or nade from someone and you're done. At least in core you have a chance to react/recover.

    • @rushnready
      @rushnready 5 лет назад +3

      Makes me laugh about the aim bullshit... Hc you have to have a better skill at aiming to get the bullet in first... In core you can have slower aim but still win the gun fight... He talking shit

    • @SpyWhoLovedHimself
      @SpyWhoLovedHimself 4 года назад +2

      Yeah that's snap aim. Core has harder aiming in general since you have to keep it on target with recoil which is super difficult. Especially when you're flinching from return fire.
      Snap aim has to be better in hardcore which is being able to move your crosshair (which you don't have, so you gotta have a good feel for where the center of the screen is) onto a target very fast and precise.

Core is literally the practice mode 😅😂

    I started playing hardcore, when I first played COD, because it sounded more interesting to me. In BO2 I was working on challenges including gamemodes and began playing a LOT of core.
    I now enjoy both, but moving over to core I found the superiority complex you are talking about in reverse. I think part of what creates the superiority complex you are talking about is the flack hardcore gets from core players. I got a lot of hardcore is for noobs. Hardcore requires no skill, you can just spray and pray. Go back to hardcore where you belong. While that is true to a point, those who spray are usually not very good. Those that do good at hardcore are those who can snap on to target quickly and accurately. While core requires sustained accuracy hardcore requires quick accuracy. It is a lot more than just positioning. I really disagree that core requires a more balanced skill set. Playing both I see that they are both challenging in their own ways. Neither is better than the other, they are just different.
    While playing with clan mates I have seen Hardcore players try to play core and struggle. I have also seen many Core players try to play Hardcore and struggle as well. These are people that play well in core and struggle to get a handful of kills in hardcore. They are very different mind sets. When I run in core, I have the hud to help me know where to expect enemies from, when I run in hardcore I have to be more aware of my surroundings. I have to watch every direction, and check corners more carefully. This isn't because hardcore is harder but because it is a totally different play style.
    I really think both sides should stop trying to convince the other that they are better. That theirs is the more difficult mode to play. That you are somehow a better COD player if you play Core/Hardcore. Both are fun and both are challenging. What makes them great is that they are challenging in different ways. It is a good thing that they are different, it makes it more interesting that way. I would not want to see a COD without hardcore, likewise I would not want to see a COD without core. Although I would like to see them rotate some of the gamemodes into hardcore. Put CTF in hardcore for a couple weeks, then replace it with hardpoint or something, and so on.
    Sorry this was so long, but I have heard so much of the reverse, that just to hear you elude to it as well, put me back in those days of getting razzed by "The True COD Players"(Core players).

      Probably the best explanation I've ever read in comparing the two modes. Very well said. I really wish they would show HC players some more love with adding in more game modes like CTF or even a HC Ground War rotated in and out if need be. I've played both modes since the original MW came out and I always lean towards HC more just because I prefer the play style. I've done really well in both modes and also done absolutely terrible in both modes.

      Idk about that in HC a bad aimer can still kill a pro aimer from behind even if they miss their first shot. All they have to do is keep spraying and hopefully land 1 shot. In core a bad aimer won't be able to do that to a good aimer unless they are lucky because a good aimer has a chance to turn around and hit all their shots and kill you.

      @@hoemie2587 right which makes hardcore harder in this regard. No matter how good you are in core if someone catches you from behind, that's it, you're dead. Sure you can get a bunch of kills rather easily if and only if you have great positional awareness, know the map like the back of your hand, have better positioning, and have quick reflexes. Other than that though yea no it's the easiest mode in cod lol. What makes core hard is the meta and landing consecutive shots.

    This is an old video now but I want to post my thoughts. I prefer hardcore because I feel that the slight lag and hit detection ruins core sometimes. I have gotten in gun fights in core that I should of won and I lost them because a middle hit didn't register. What probably happens is the enemy strafes but it doesn't register that on my side. I have also seen my shot get hit markers when I am not even shooting on the enemy. In hardcore this doesn't happen usually because it is about the first shot reaction. Also I don't believe in the minimap because it requires you to use a silencer. You should only have minimap when you get a UAV.

    • @Platinumrings
      @Platinumrings 7 лет назад +1

      Ryu0rKen yes but in hardcore, if you're lagging it's the first couple bullets that do nothing and in a game where it only takes 1 to kill, lag make hardcore more unplayable than core. That's just me tho. In core there are too many other factors that come into play for time to kill. That is why you only hear people complain about, "lag compensation" and "people get punished for being host or having a good connection" that play core. Hardcore players know that is not true. If your connection is good in HC, you will do good, if you're host in HC, you will do incredible. :)

    I've seen it from both camps being active on the CoD Forums, and even in BF as well. Core Players swear they are more highly skilled, Hardcore players claim they are more skilled.
    Fact of the matter is, both modes require a certain level of skill in order to be consistently successful. What it boils down to is... what do you enjoy playing? Play what you like.. like what you play... and what others do or enjoy doing is really no business of yours.
    The bragging in general over skill has diminished the fun factor of FPS shooters over the years. Just play, have a good time, be a good sport... and if you keep the mindset that you are only as good as your last game, it will help keep you humble.

    I’ve always switched between the two game modes, but lean a lot more towards hardcore now. The reason the simply because of what you said. I think it’s a bit more challenging to play without the HUD, calling in kill streaks, and not shooting teammates. The positioning plays a huge role, and being able to successfully navigate a map, without going down is a lot more difficult. Knowing when to aim going around corners, instead of just reaction aiming in core when you see an enemy, like most people do in core. Like another comment said, M4 and SMGS win in core. Knowing when you need the tactical advantage in hardcore is key.

    Im a hardcore player, and while i dont look down on core, i do understand the skill sets needed to play it. Sustained accuracy is definitely a necessity in core.
    Something i think many of you arnt looking at, is also the way you move. If you run a straight line, youre an easy mark in any mode, granted, but in HC, you learn little movement tricks that can really help. Ive seen people jump over my shots, drop shots, and even crouch jump over shots to avoid a headshot. Many HC players play with a high sensitivity to account for being attacked from behind, and many of the good ones can turn on you, even if you get hit markers.
    There are also cheap tactics that some people use to get their kills, weather they use smoke and thermal scopes. Thats not necessarily cheap, but the way its used sure can be.
    At the end of the day, do what you gotta do to get your kills, but dont think youre better if you got a lucky shot on a solid HC player.
    Tactics are something i think HC needs more than core in a lot of ways. How you move, your positioning, do you maintain cover, do you have situational awareness, ect.
    Some HC players reload after every kill, some like to use head glitches every chance they get.
    There are things involved in hardcore play that i think some core players would never know about just because theyre not as involved or invested in a hardcore game mode.
    Granted taking a bullet to the foot wont kill you, but if youve never been shot in the foot, how can you say youd still be in the fight?
    Im sure there are plenty of things involved in core gameplay that i dont know much about, and ill be the first to admit that sustained accuracy can be difficult sometimes. Thats what a knife and tomahawks are for 😂
    One thing i hate about core, is if i put a bullet, or 5 in your face, and youre still moving, there are problems.
    2 to the chest is more realistic in hardcore, as well as not knowing exactly whats going on everywhere else on the map. Shooting teammates is a pain. You always have to listen for that grenade, cuz you dont get a big red marker in the middle of your screen, and generally speaking, hardcore players use sound to play. Its almost necessary.
    I can hear the jingle of the belts on your uniform, i can hear when you aim down sights, i can hear your footsteps and know within 1 foot of where you are, and that also means i know when youre reloading, pulling a pin in a grenade. Everything.
    Sound is the most useful tool in a hardcore players repertoire next to snap shot accuracy. That is an area where core players can mute their TV and still get all the necessary info they need visually.
    Just my thoughts on the matter. Do what you will with the info.

    I actually agree with everything you talked about in the video. I'm a hardcore player and have been one for several years now and will never return to core again. However, I in fact started out as a core player for several years before I switched to hardcore, so I have serious insight on both game modes. I can personally say that if you play hardcore you can definitely take out multiples of enemies with ease where as in core you can easily be taken out by multiple enemies. Core is better for one on one engagement and hardcore is better for one vs. Multiple, which means you have to be precise and be able to snap on targets way quicker and steadier than in core. And as for the part about not being able to evade most fights in hardcore, that is FALSE. I am able to successfully evade at least 70 to 80 percent of all fights when I'm at a disadvantage and need to run and find cover. It is hard to do but when use to it, very possible. There is a way stronger learning curve in hardcore than in core, mainly because most people like to act stupid and have a lot of opportunities to screw around in core vs. Hardcore. There is ZERO room for error in hardcore and plenty for core, BOTTOM LINE. Until you've ACTUALLY played both core AND hardcore steadily for several years Ace, don't say we have a superiority complex, we just know the skill it takes in both modes. Don't forget that almost all Call of Duty players start out in core since most fps online games promote core modes the most. So if anyone has the say so about which takes more skill or is the pro mode, it's HARDCORE PLAYERS

I literally played a game of core yesterday because I needed 25 throwing knife kills. Got that challenge done in 1 game on shoot house and went positive team won and I didn’t shoot 1 bullet. I was laughing after the game and was like wow is core this easy. Went to play more core to try it out and asked the kids in the lobby what’s the best core gun they said M4 so I used that and almost got a nuke on hackney yard. You can’t kill teammates you have the screen filled with info to help you out like a kill cam lol. Idk to me core is just about using the best gun whereas HC is pure skill and no room for error. Just my opinion and to be honest I see more camping in core on this game and everyone is using the same gun. I haven’t played core in years because it’s too boring with when every enemy is using meta weapons. If you’re a scrub HC will expose you in second. Again just my opinion but I agree with you

(until shot down lol) it's not that core is lower or takes more or less skill... it's all the advantages like HUD or even a kill cam that don't make core as fun. maybe if they did mid core lol or something where it kept the health and damage the same but took away HUD and kill cam we might just have a sweet game mode.

Nevertheless, when they are asked to join a HC game they refuse giving as an excuse that it will have an effect on there K/D ratio. Hardcore players are better overall players because you have to deal with friendly fire. Core play allows every player to shoot through one another and concentrate fire to kill opponents. This is something you see in pro tournaments and my take is that professional players should always play hardcore so they have to play with the risk of friendly fire.

    I want to say thankyou for the input you provided. A lot of what you brought up is true to fact. Knowing maps, positioning, when to and when not to shoot. I would like to add that I think most h ardcore players are not that egotistical but we appreciate a more delicate approach to killing. I don't consider myself a pro but have played on great teams winning matches 75-0 in previous cods. I think core players don't really worry about getting shot because like you said, they can evade, heal, then try to go face to face in a gunfight. I think the Hud in core is a crutch to core players along with the kill cam to know where to go back to since it replays the killers position. That you didn't really mention. Other than that you are pretty much spot on

    Pretty good video. As a HC player i tend to agree with most of what you said. I play as a rusher/clear out and do fairly well in HC, but in core my KD is far better if I'm not working on headshots etc. My biggest issue is rushing a route to get behind the enemy and you may get that first and second kill but it's either lack of bullets or to many enemies that get you killed where as in HC you can get that triple or more. Aside from camping I find HC far less annoying.

  • @bowman_chris2615

    I think one key skill that you could have elaborated more on is instince. As a lifetime CoD HC player there is nothing more important. This is also a skill that requires the player to retain a TON of knowledge and adapt on the fly based on how the game is playing out. If you combine that with: reaction speed (imo), first shot accuracy, no HUD, no ammo gauge, etc. The player has to be much more reliant on self efficiency than when you all all of those resources to work with.
    FWIW, my interpretation of what you said is "HC needs high level skill for in a few areas. Core needs all around skill, but really just being able to connect on multiple shots in a row." In a way I think you kind of countered your own argument.
    For the record, I dont think I'm a god for playing HC, BUT I do think it is the more advanced gameplay and more heavily depends on the player rather than the resources.

    This is a great unbiased comparative review. I play both Core and Hardcore, but I ultimately enjoy HC over Core. Not because I am just better at HC, but simply due to how much more team oriented hardcore is. Having a team that can communicate will almost always change the outcome of any HC game mode. It can be argued that Core requires the same ammount of teamplay, but in all the years of my gaming. That is what ive always experienced. When I first log on, I play a few games of core and once I feel as if my Accuracy (Consistent accuracy) is on point, ill swap to HC and joing up with my friends. Another HUGE reason that I enjoy in HC, is being able to use a weapon that I enjoy. Not because it's "the best", but becausd the way it handles and feels. In Core, you're almost always limited to certain guns/varients due to the significance of TTK.

    I do very well and top of lobbies in hardcore. I do descent in core. My failure with core is that it takes more bullets on target to kill than in hardcore so I can't get those awesome obscure jump shots I rely on in hardcore. I think it takes different sets of skills for each mode.

  • @EnergyOM
    @EnergyOM 8 лет назад

    I totally agree, as a hardcore player, that the skill to successfully hit serveral shots in a row on a target isn't that necessary, which can cause a deficit when entering a core match to one's disadvandce. And since the PS3 version doesn't offer all gamemodes on hardcore, one has to switch to core for some gamemodes. A sugar coating effect to hide a lack of self-worth or self-esteem hasn't entered my subconcious by playing only hardcore, which would be noticeable by showing behavior patterns like a Kayne West or practicing a tribe-mentality ritual in a hardcore player group by endorsing that fallacious delusion to feel superior. One either is superior in a certain field or isn't. Just like rappers that keep saying "I am the best", when objective reality isn't reflecting that. Actions speak louder then words. "Taten sprechen lauter als Worte.".

  • @Versatilty
    @Versatilty 6 лет назад

    I'm a serious hardcore player and I think core is harder because of having to hold on target longer and that if you don't get your kill your target can regen. I also like this about hardcore that you have to pick your moments because you can kill teammates, you don't know where you stand all the time (i.e. hud), and that you can't just run into the Frey because you won't regen so if you take damage and don't get killed even a fall or jump might finish you off.
    I definately don't feel superior though because I think it's easier for someone who plays a lot of core to learn hardcore then a hardcore player to play core.

    Only a handful of guns are 1 shot kills (always) in HC. Most at close range, but longer range it's usually two. Which makes HC more fun with weapon variety, as they are most on an even playing field. If you try rushing in HC with no health regeneration it's not as easy as you may think. Ace states it pretty well. I play HC because I have a lag disadvantage most of the time. That makes winning a head to head gun fight in Core usually impossible, unless they have terrible aim, lol. I've gotten DNA bombs in Core and went on many long kill streaks, much longer than my HC ones. If you lag quite often I find being a smart player in HC can make it possible to do well.

  • @mingsweetjp1
    @mingsweetjp1 8 лет назад +7

    I'm a hardcore player. I agree that you really don't need that much accuracy on hc. But afterall, it's not the game mode that determines your a good or skilled player. Say a sniper camping on core tdm will get a good kd but doesn't mean he's more skillful then a rusher on hc even the rusher dies more.. And if your good at video games you will be good at both you just need time to adjust to different mode. But if you suck you might get some lucky shots on hc but overall you still get wooped because there are skilled and smart hc players.. So if you play core, it doesn't mean that your more skillful. It depends on how good you are at core. If your a really average player at core, there's no way you become top notch player at hc just because hc "need less skill".

    • @rushnready

    I started out only playing HC, (COD4) but I always respected Core players. It's different, I didn't like that I was constantly melted by guns I hadn't unlocked yet, or the guns I was trying to level up weren't anywhere near as good as the best guns you'd go against in core, HC made that pretty much irrelevant.
    I pretty much only play core now, I'm tired of team killing, or losers that join just to flashbang/stun grenade teammates, or assholes that deliberately find you to kill you off a streak. If that didn't happen, I'd probably still only be playing HC. I only play HC to level guns, and play core for fun.

    The normal time to kill in most FPS games is usually ridiculous. Hardcore just feels right to me.. It would be a nightmare in real life if you had to dump 2/3s of your mag into every target to drop them. In my opinion, the margin for error in core is much larger than in hardcore. Peak a corner in core - get hit a few times and live to step back and rethink your next move; do the same thing in hardcore and you're liable to catch an instant fade..

    Great video. I am a player that enjoys hardcore game modes. Not because ones requires more skill then the other. But I really like using a variety of weapons, and I feel that in hardcore all the guns a pretty much balanced whereas in core you have some that just dominate regardless. For example only in hardcore can a atlas 45 beat out an asm1 or BAL. I think each game mode has its own skill level that's required but I just prefer hardcore game modes for more weapon balance and just a slight challenge. I stopped playing core for 1 reason mainly. And that’s the BS of me shooting enemies in core first but end up dying anyway somehow. In HC you don’t have that crap.
    99% of the time it’s whoever shoots first kills first, like it supposed to be. And 2nd reason it’s you don’t have the constant minimap.
    Which is good because it gives you the feeling that you need to earn that UAV/Minimap. Right now in WW2 we can’t have silencers on our AR’s so this way I can play with AR’s and not worry about showing up on the radar, while rushing in the enemy spawn.
    So just these 2 reasons alone make’s HC IMO way more enjoyable! Plus they’re soon introducing ricochet mode so no more kicks if you kill an teammate by accident.

My favorite game mode is Dom core the only reason I would play in hardcore is if I need quick kills to unlock an attachment. I don't like playing HC because you have guys that just sit back and tube or use the NA45, or you get the idiot that team kills you on purpose, or while you are maybe one kill away from your streaks a teammate walks in front of you and you get kicked. I play both core and hardcore and the truth is neither modes require more skill then the other. I enjoy the realism of hc and the regeneration of core which neither makes you a better player then the other just makes you hone in on different skill sets. Playing core will help you learn the maps , reading the radar , spawns , running and guning ect , playing hc will help you learn to be more patience , and not to rely on radar , pre aiming , and positioning ect. Neither game mode is easier to get kills , yes hardcore takes way less shots but if you think spraying everywhere will get you kills any decent cod player will kill you easily , and yes core has regeneration which isn't unfair because everyone has it or unrealistic because its a video game where anything is possible. Trying to say any game mode requires more skill then the other is ridiculous. Playing cod online or any online game just takes practice the more you play the better you will get especially by switching up game modes and finding out what your good at and not good at and learn from it and to remember to have fun and play what ever game mode ya want.

    Alright guys here is my thoughts... I prefer Hardcore simply because I hate landing a head shot or upper chest shot and then the enemy shooting me once with a shotgun or lmg and kicking me off of target then winning the gunfight. If I shoot first and I hit you in a vital are, you should die. Now In BLOPS 3 I liked core better than I have in the past, but in all cods and Battlefield I have always preferred hardcore. One other thing I like is that one mag can spray down multiple enemies. In BLOPS 2, I got a couple 4-5 man kills in one mag of an assault rife just because they were grouped up all facing one way and i was flanking. I will admit I cannot do this in core. they have too much health and too much longer to react. In core, I do better with a knife than a gun when it comes to multi-kills, even though knives are less reliable.

    I play hardcore because it eliminates the *meta* that nearly every COD player uses. I don't wanna deal with bunny hopping, butt sliding kar98 players in core where I know my headshot on that sweat should of dropped him. But one shot me to the chest with a quick turn around. Even odds, fun gameplay, hilarious accidental team kill, no meta = *HARD CORE* ❤

    I can do well just hip firing with the AK12 wrecker and Ameli Whale Horn in Hardcore. I will say hardcore doesn't need very good aim, but having no mini map requires better knowledge of the map.

    Dont see much run and gun in hardcore in any cod game. Very rare

    I play both and learn to play differently for each. I play all types of game modes on both Hardcore and Core modes. I pick up skills that overall show up in any match I’m in. I’ve noticed people play hardcore domination to feel more like a boss by flanking and spawn trapping. Good players should be able to jump into either version and still play a good match.

    I play hardcore and Core and have never encountered a hardcore superiority complex but that's probably just me

    Learned something new today. Thank you. I just enjoy HC objective game play over core. It’s just more enjoyable. Didn’t know there were people out there who have a weird power trip being the HC is far greater than core.

    Good vid and I liked the balanced opinion. I play HC simply bc to me it is easier. You’re right - the one shot kill does make it easier and spraying does have an effect. Where as in core it takes just a bit more to get the kill.

    I think ACE missed one key point here. I play Hardcore bc I play a tactical game that I want to be as real as possible. I feel that hardcore is a little closer to reality. Example: it does not take 4-7 shots to the chest to kill someone but in hardcore its 2-3 shots with a M4 that is alil more accurate. Yes some guns are 1 shot kills but not most and those are high caliber rounds so those cause alot of damage. Secondly no mini map. Too many players in Core run around and have to have the mini map or get trashed on. You have to use more senses and strategy to figure out where people are coming from,flanking, and positioning etc. Those are really the only big reasons why I play hardcore, “REALiSM”. I dont think that hard core players are more skilled either just a focus on a different set of skills than core. Which ever fits your playing style. I play Modern warfare mainly bc they are more REAL/Modern as well. Sorry but hard to explain this fully without explaining it in length. Love the videos keep up the outstanding work ACE always look forward to your in depth analysis!!!!!

    I've played my fair share of all game modes, hardcore was fun for me because I could be fast and play alone. Slowed things down a bit and used my map knowledge to play more defensively in core modes and usually ran with a party. Good cod players understood the differences and played both well. Core imo is much better suited for tournament play. You'd hate to watch a match over in less than a minute or two.
