Great video!! In 6 minutes you have not only perfectly explained the source of Mikasa’s headaches but also tied it back to the trauma and experiences of the founder Ymir. The very thing people on social media have been fighting about for a year and half now since manga ended and you did it in six and half minutes, this video deserves more views. I always thought Mikasa’s headaches were mainly result the result of Ymir looking through her mind but it makes more sense it was a response to the trauma when she lost her parents
The way that you explained what she was going through with the psychosomatics really hit home for me, and I know that she’s just a made up character but we are so similar
Bro i love your videos so much, we really need more youtubers like you talking about attack on Titan this way. I Really hope you continue making these kinds of videos 👍👍👍
Mikasa on seeing Ymir for the first time: "So it was you... you were the one always looking inside my head." I see this as Mikasa basically saying: "so you're the Ymir I've heard so much about. The person who's been looking into my mind to try and understand the way I see the world." - I assume she heard about Ymir's history and interest in Mikasa through Eren (in their paths vision at the cabin in 138) or Armin (after crying together while holding Eren's head in 139). She might literally be feeling Mikasa's thoughts by reading her mind, or it could just be symbolic language by Mikasa - i think my reading stays the same either way.
@@eliteari so ymir did peer into her mind? i don’t understand because ymir wouldnt have been able to connect to mikasa if not having access to her mind and seeing. But as you said cause of her headaches is trauma which i agree makes more sense and is more fit however there shouldve been more depth on how ymir was able to be emotionally freed by mikasa not just by that one panel in the manga and the only other thing that makes sense is ymir peering into her mind but it wasn’t shown ymir doing it so it feels bland.
First of all, that bgm torwards the end of this video had me distracted, trying to remember where I heard it from…Revolutionary Girl Utena (right?). Second the conclusion to this discussion about Ymir’s feelings basically created the world of titans had reminded me of (SPOILERS) the ending of one of the Tenchi Muyo movies when he’s an adult living with this new female character that he’s dating in an alternate timeline. It turned out that in the real world, she died on a ship with her lover at her side. And I think her spirit or feelings created an alternate reality on earth, dating Tenchi, living the life she never got to have.
I think it's kore like 2000 years for someone to do evil as great or greater than how she interpreted Fritz's as well as someone that has experienced trauma like her's to love them
While I had already seen Mikasa's headaches in this way watching this reminded me that she experienced them when she was kidnapped and after finding out that Eren had been eaten in Trost, both of which weren't depicted in the anime. As good as the anime can be I feel like everyone should also experience the manga at least once, because these subtleties are often lost in the process of bringing it to life. Goes to show how important it is to reread tbh, I might be due for another one.
Great video. I’d always loved Mikasa but one thing that always bothered me about the Ymir theory was mainly the fact that we’d have no idea if Ymir was looking through her head when Mikasa didn’t have headaches but this explanations makes a lot more sense.
0:17 I mean, thats Kenny’s Grandpa theorizing yet he doesn’t know the full story of how things came to be the way they were, he’s just aware that the King can erase peoples memories. For the Ackerman’s, they may be able to resist the will of the King, but may be subject to memory gaps. It could be something as simple as Kenny’s Great Great Grandparents being aware the King erased everyones memories but them somehow not knowing why. This is why we need a series focusing on the Great Titan War. It could explain a lot concerning not only the Ackermans but everything
I think this explanation is fine, but if this was the intended messgae in the anime it could have been set up and fleshed out better. The headaches, its hard to tell someone otherwise that it wasnt the result of Ymir peeking into her mind. What we gather od Ymir besides her backstory is dialogue from other characters, Frieda, Zeke, Eren and Mikasa (i might be forgetting). Endings are hard and esp ending AOT. I think isayama did a fine job, but could have been better. As he stated himself. One thing i would have liked was that technically Mikasa does have free will from the founders power. So in that way it wiuld be wroth waiting 2000 yeara for her or at least why The founders power decided it to be her.
great video. You seem to like Shingeki. That's why I recommend you the "Muv-Luv" trilogy of visual novels. In the third part you will see almost everything Shingeki copies almost directly from it. But that doesn't take away the merit of Isayama's work, since it managed to attract much more people than the work from which it was copied.
ah, and not only the trilogy. It also takes from Muv-Luv The Day After and other stories in the universe. I reread the complete Shingeki recently after consuming much more of the Muv-Luv Multiverse and it's even a much clearer picture

its sad that the ending tries to turn this into "it was all ymir's doing"
spoils the already little depth that mikasa's character had
This channel is such an underrated gem. Keep these calm thoughtful dives up! Loving the one's you've put out so far.
you ended this video beautifully. absolute gem of a video.
Finally got to watch this, very good stuff Ari!
Beautiful explanation, thanks
I thought the headaches was her moving timelines

but when mikasa said “so it was you looking inside my head” she said smth like that then what does that imply??

@@afraaahmed5958 Nobody should be able to get into an Ackermans head because she IS an Ackerman and minority bloodline. It's a retconned plot hole.

Revolutionary Girl Utena indeed. What a soundtrack that show has.
@@eliteari Underrated. More people should react to it.
Mikasa gets headaches because she hates feeling like someone important to her is about to die or has died. It has nothing to do with Founder Ymir.
It took 2000 years for Ymir to find someone who can overcome trauma?
I think it's kore like 2000 years for someone to do evil as great or greater than how she interpreted Fritz's as well as someone that has experienced trauma like her's to love them
Yup, exactly. It's trash writing
the edit is freaking cool

guys ISAYAMA is DAMN DANGEROUS!!
Another great video as usual! Personally I've never thought too much about the headaches, but this explanation makes a lot of sense

I think it’s a link through trauma and the lost girl ova (that they might use for the finale)
Her headaches have nothing to do with Ymir
Great video, thank you!!

It's Ymir.
