    the Canakit comes with a pretty good case in my opinion. Its just acrylic, but it has all the right cut-outs and the middle layer even labels everything. I especially like the fact that I was able to fit a pi-zero sized hat, some small metal heat sinks and a camera inside the case. Its way better than that last place case for certain.

    Despite its popularity, I think the NesPi case is still one of the best looking enclosures out there; glad I picked one up (and didn't get scalped for it).

    Flirc powerrrrr!!! I followed your advice and ordered this immediately....could not be happier. Thanks for doing what you do ETA. Excellent case, man. Zero complaints. Some (haters) have said it hampers bluetooth and Wifi. Personally I have not experience any of these issues.
    I did have the official Pi3 case you mentioned for the first month I owned my pi3. It's a great case for the price. I got it for $7.99. The convertible top and sides are a nice touch, and I'm sure it would've been adequate for Retropie with a good heat sink. However, I did experience overheating a number of times without a sink. Especially after I scraped with Selph and added video, clips. My Retropie was in death valley mode in the official pi case without a sink, even if I did remove the top ans sides during use. So I'd say it's probably a sufficient budget case with a heat sink, although at the price of the case+heatsink...you find another reason to just put that money towards the Flirc. Pi Case Master-race.

    Just bought the NesPi case last week paired with a Nes Pro 30 Controller. Totally happy with it (despite the lack of a safe shutdown mode via the external power button). Looks and feels borderline identical to the original U.S. NES case. Highly recommended.

    I've been more than happy with my first RetroPie build in the inexpensive NES case. Very well made plus I love how the cartridge slot is functional and the sides were cleanly fitted around the other power, card, etc. ports. I was interested in the Tinytendo, but I didn't like how the controller ports looked and the gaping hole on the side. Since the Pi was going to be a RetroPie, I wanted a retro case and the NES throwback was perfect.

    Ordered the Flirc based on your earlier vids and promptly proceeded to mod it with the same power button you did, again based on one of your vids, and I agree fully, it's by far the best Pi case - especially for Retropie users!

    I am glad too i went with flirc, very well made case. Not saying the others are bad, just that the flirc case is an excellent case, and suits me fine.
    I am not really into fancy looking cases. The flirc looks very professional.

    The issue with all of these cases, they are non-hat or basement compatable. A basement is less known about less used, it is more of a thing on the pi zero using the bottom pin connectors. Most hats are not heatsink + fan compatable though either. The solutions for those issues are often 3d printer.

    Something is up with the Tinytendo case though. The fan that it comes with doesn't do jack in cooling the Pi whatsover. I would add that one to the bottom of the list.

    Mine came with a nice black case. It looks like it is well vented as the top of the case is rised up a bit leaving space all around for heat to escape. I think black looks better than any of these cases. I was thinking about getting one that looked like a original NES but it looks too sealed up and would get too hot. From the look of these two in your video they look really cheap and I wouldn't pay more than $8 for one. Think I will stick with the all black look.

      the retroflag nespi case is really high quality actually, i'd say it comes close to a NES mini. The power and reset buttons aren't safe, but i don't mind manually shutting it down before pressing the powerbutton. Its really spacious inside so overheating shouldn't be a problem but since my pie is overclocked i got a 30bucks set that comes included with a dualfan heatsink. been using it for long FFVII sessions and it hasn't shown any signs of overheating.

    Retroflag NesPi case is crap! I've had nothing but problems with undervoltage warnings. I've tried a few different things to try and sort it but no luck. It's more hassle than it's worth.

    • @xmentertainment
      @xmentertainment 6 лет назад +1

      The problem is 100% your power supply, not the NESPi case. Undervoltage warnings with third-party 5.0v 2.5a power supplies. Use official Pi power supply 5.1v 2.5a and you will have no issues.

    • @m0otube
      @m0otube 6 лет назад

      I'm using an official power supply for the Pi 3. I've sorted it now by making a hole in the back of the case and plugging the power straight into the Pi instead. The power/reset buttons cant be used now but I can live with that. I never used the reset anyway.

    • @xmentertainment
      @xmentertainment 6 лет назад

      That's weird. Maybe you got a lemon. I've done quite a few builds with the NESPi and never had a problem when using the official power supply. At least you found a workaround.

    • @telmopaz
      @telmopaz 6 лет назад

      Exactly! Finally. If you overclock the unit and plug a fan that's it. The system will unddrperform due to the amount of electricity the case circuits take. I'm using the official power unit as well. Threw the thing away already.
