Two things:
1. I know its been almost a year but the Argon One M.2 case slays everything on this list (though that wood one was gorgeous)
2. I really, *really* like your choice of jazz EP music. This alone earned you a subscribe.
I did a review on the Argon ONE shortly after this video. I also have the Argon ONE M.2, which I've shown in a video already, but I haven't specifically done a review on it.
Take a look at the Argon Neo. It is basically a combination of your two winners. Good access to GPIO etc with a metal heat sink case.
Once you get the Argon One, I'd like to see some CPU heat tests between it and the Flirc case with the Pi4 OC'd.

Flirc hands down for a passively cooled case.
@Isaac Newton I personally haven't had any issues with wifi or bluetooth. In my use, the Flirc/Pi is only a few feet from a wifi access point and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse even closer. The bottom of the case is plastic and so is the top. Just under the plastic top is the metal case and it does have a few (4?) small holes. I really can't say if the small holes help the wifi/bluetooth signal.
Check out Argon1 too. I have three Flirc cases and an Argon1 and honestly, while I love the Flirc, I'd like to see an updated design incorporating some of the Argon1 Elements.
The only thing about the Argon1 is that you need a short USB cable to turn the IR receiver back towards the front for remote control use. That's where Flirc could really kill it big IMO.
I agree, depends on the application. I do a lot of Video display usage with the Pi and that Flirc case looks like a nice new option for an upcoming project. Thanks for the video and options.
FWIW, just adding a note that you can use GPIO pins with the Flirc, but you have to go through the bottom, and I think it requires getting an extension ribbon cable... definitely no easy access though (it's not what I would consider a GPIO-friendly case) but figured I'd mention it's not impossible to do.
Argon one Neo best of both worlds, built in heat sink, access to pins and you can add a fan if you choose to.
The iUniker Mini Raspberry Pi 4 Case, Pi 4 Case with Fan is only $6.99 at Amazon (4.7 stars). I have two of these cases. I did have a fan bearing fail after 5 months, but I assume the fans used in other cases would also be prone to failure. I just ordered four extra fans. I also have a Flirc case and it doesn't cool as well as active cooler cases. I have a Geekworm Raspberry Pi 4 Armor Case. The heat sink pad was not thick enough to make contact with the case. I have also read that metal clamshell cases degrade the WiFi signal. I have nine RPis.
The Argon cases are the top of the heap but are expensive, this a good overview of a few less expensive alternatives.
aerosol spray cans containing car vinyl upholstery dye are EXCELLENT for recolouring acrylic (and most other) plastics if you are feeling creative, it acts as an etch, not a paint and best applied by thin multiple "leopard spotting" layers, or use a small airbrush
None of the cases has total access to the GPIO pins. The fan utilises to pins 2 and 6. This prevents breakout boards.
Yeah, no easy GPIO access is a red flag. Also, permanent fans instead of adjusted based on heat/load. Strange comparision, not very reliable.
Just set up a Pi Hole with the Flirc case last week. Great case. 👍🏻
Chris, another great video. I personally liked the stacked full-cover case over the rainbow case as it protected all the components. However, several people pointed out that the Flirc case had the benefit of a passive heat sink though it did not have pin access. A heat test of all of the cases would be a good follow-up test. Thanks for the great content and presentation.
What about the noise levels of the fans ?
Argon NEO is the best if you need passive heat sink and GPIO, not as good as Flirc on heat dissipation, but GPIO, ribbons access
thanks for the video. 1 point is the Pimorni case is not cheaper because you have to buy the fan shim as well. you cant run it with no fan imo.
Do we have any ideas on when the next pi update will be? pi 4B? Pi4+ Pi5? Any idea what they will put in the next pi as far as hardware? What new on horizon this year for them?

I got a free RPi4 case yesterday at a trade show. By far, it is the most affordable one far. :-)
Just checked Pimoroni website in UK and you have not correctly priced what you have shown: the case alone is 7.00 GBpounds but the Fan SHIM is an additional 8.00 GBpounds (current exchange rate 1GBpound=US$1.30 = $19.50 plus shipping from UK). Misleading conclusion! I bought equivalent to either of the stackable builds complete with fan etc. and am very pleased with it - I prefer extra protection of Pi compared to Pimoroni build.
My main problem with most of these cases is that they have the exact dimensions of the Raspberry boards and no space left for additional parts. For example if I want to connect a few DB9 connectors or pushbuttons to the GPIO port then I cannot mount them on the wall of the enclosure.
Ive had issues with some of the stack and build cases depending on the type of HDMI cable that im using. Definitely looking forward to getting my hands on the 4 soon.
The passively cool clam shell case that came with my Vilros Kit is very similar to the Flirc except instead of just 1 big metal contact piece for the CPU, it actually has a number of contact points for the other chips on the board as well. It comes with Thermal compound to use instead of the thermal pad. I used Arctic silver instead of the included and temps seem pretty solid. I am going to stress test some with overclocking and see how well it can handle it as a passively cooled case. I may end up getting an ice tower instead since temps are important to me
Would be good to see a stress test to see if there is a difference on cooling and actual functionality in use
I hope that the factory that makes these has a use for the large amount of waste acrylic that is generated from cutting out the centers of the layers.
I like the look of the Argon One, I may go with that.
It really all comes down to the project you're using your pi for. The Flirc is in a different class than the other cases imo
I use an ICE Tower Cooler case. Also looking at the Argon One M.2

B.T.W. The Zebra version has a LOT of accessory pieces that will let you use it with different HATs. Mine has the 'Astro-Pi' aka Sense HAT on it.(as well at the camera hanging out on it's ribbon cable).

Another thing to add is the Pironomi Case has no protection what-so-ever for the very fragile fan. Both great cases though, I've owned both.
You should do the cooling test for the final two.
In addition to personal preference, I think the use case (pardon the pun) would govern. For example, if you are going to be using the Raspberry Pi in a “production” environment, then the open design case might be a problematic. Similarly, if you are using the Raspberry Pi for lab or experimental work, then the closed case would be a hassle.
For me its a cheap layered case with a good fan and heatsinks, then the ArgonOne, then the Neo, which is all i use till the RetroFlag Pi4 NES Case is out, very soon
If raspberry pi 4B can be over heated... u need to use “”52PI ICE TOWER CPU COOLING FAN ICE TOWER FAN FOR RASPBERRY PI 4 MODEL B & RASPBERRY PI 3B+ & RASPBERRY PI 3 MODEL B””. However, it will not fit in a case then.
The tower drops temp by 30C when over clocked.. monster good.
This is another that should not be over looked.... Argon One Raspberry Pi 4 Case - As well I'm looking for a case that will house a Pi 4 with a POE hat, any ideas what may work here?
I'm going to be checking out the Argon cases soon. As far as what will work with the PoE hat - it depends on the profile of the hat. But likely the GeeekPi case or the Muizei case would work fine - lots of space in those.
David G. Stevenson I have the same issue although I liked the argon so much I may drop the Poe in favour of the case and the ability to overclock the mini monster :-)
The geek one that Chris reviewed allows you to add the poe hat but you need to leave the top off it and not put the heat sinks on. Or get the 40 pin and 4 pin header extenders that are available then you can add the heat sink on the cpu.
I have a RP4 w/ POE hat and used the HighPi Raspberry Pi Case. Not the greatest looking case, but the Pi and the hat both fit.

Has anyone seen a decent case that is compatible with the PoE HAT?
Fenix1861 I like the Argon40 Neo case. It looks a lot like the Flirk, but has a removable top, and a middle layer. I used it with the official PoE HAT personally, and that worked just fine, physically. The middle layer does passive cooling like the Flirk, but blocks the HAT fan from blowing directly on the CPU. So not perfect, but pretty darn good. Its design deals with Chris’s negative on the Flirk, too, in that when you take the top off (it clips magnetically) you have access to the GPIO pins. (Unless blocked by a HAT, of course.)
Michael Alderete thanks for the suggestion. The issue I foresee with that case is it doesn’t breathe without the cover off, so while the passive cooling is nice, the fan is effectively useless. Thoughts?
I'm using the SecurePi case ($9) from Elmwood Electronics with the official POE hat:

It has venting holes from the Hat's fan, side access to the GPIO pins, and optional ports covers to secure all the ports from prying hands. It can either snap together or screw together for security. Overall, a great case for the price if you are using the POE Hat, especially if you are going to deploy it into the field.
Using the $10 HighPi Raspberry Pi Case (ruclips.net/video/MJIjdKh6XgQ/видео.html ) with the RP4+POE hat. Not the best looking case, but everything fits.

Fenix1861 Yep, exactly, the fan has no real efffect. It can’t blow onto the CPU, and has no ventilation for cooling the interior of the case. You have to rely on the passive cooling of the Neo itself, which _does_ work pretty well. (As well as the Flirk, according to test comparison done by a guy in England.) Basically, it fits, it works, but it’s not the best case if you’re using the PoE HAT. But it _is_ compatible.
I miss the two ARGON cases. That would be ORGON ONE and ARGON ONE M.2.
The NESPi case is the best one.

I too have owned most of the cases you showed. The Pimoroni is a very nice case but it also gathers dust (as do all the fan models) so all of my RPi4's are in Flirc cases and I have zero heat issues. 🍻

I Like the Flirc as well, but see no possible extensions. Thinking of Battery for UPS or NVME2.0, I have the Geek case looks great one problem I had a stroke so I am wondering were the fan pins go..

There is not much, bitscope makes some, but they are quite expensive. Rackmounting is still more a DIY thing
I gave you a thumbs-up because I think it's a good quality production, not because I liked the video. The choices of cases you chose to review has a specific market niche. Apparently I'm not that specific market niche, needing utilitarian or industrial cases that I can have a PiHat or some other space for a SSD, and an expansion board on it.
Also, you should have reviewed the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Aluminum Case RPI 4 Metal Shell Green Box Enclosure for RPI 4B by Unistorm.

Why?
Three reasons:
1) Better heat dissipation combining both a fan and heat sinks.
2) Component protection of the very flimsy RJ45 and USB2/3 ports.
3) Mounting options -- Like the GeeekPi Acrylic Case that you said you didn't like the bottom on, it is made to mounting to a equipment closet backboard, only better... the "wings" are visible on the sides of the case so that you can screw and unscrew the case without trying to guess where the holes are on the back of the case.

Did you hear me scream “Noooooo” when you didn’t install the thermal pad? It is needed for cooling otherwise the SOC is not being properly cooled
In addition, not a good review of the cases as no thermal testing was performed. The Pi4 runs very hot and having a good cooling system is critical. You should follow up this review with thermal testing so this video would actually be beneficial
LordHog With the different firmware patches the RPi4 runs less hot. (Still hot, but less.) Be sure you’ve updated yours if you’re having heat problems. I think that if you’re not under long-term load you can get away without any heat sink or pad-joining-thermal bridge, at least for a short time, and Chris did say all installs in the video were temporary.
Mine run in the low 30 degrees Celsius easily, not hot at all. Another advantage of the poe hat
