It seems i have been lucky with the school food my entire county had. I went to, technically, four different schools in the same county; first was my elementary, then the middle school was attached to the high school, then an actual middle school, and finally my high school. They all had, dare I say GOOD LUNCH FOOD. I always hear people complain about the food their schools fed them, but the worst I can think I had at any of my schools was undercooked rice. Even then that's just a third of my full lunch tray. Maybe you can count those awful breakfast pizzas, but that's obviously breakfast. We also had terrible microwave breakfast burritos, but, again, that's breakfast. Also you mentioned getting half an apple for lunch. At my schools they were required to make us take a whole apple/banana/orange/pear etc. At my school everyone celebrated when we had Crispitos on the lunch menu for that week.
When I was in preschool there used to be a bunch of regular trucks you could play with at recess. HOWEVER, there was one red truck you could get if you got there super early and asked the teacher for it first. Being the GENIUS toddler i was, I started burying it in the sand when I was done playing with it so I was the only one who could get it the next day.
